HI, I have a couple of questions about the project. 1) I want to make robotic arm based on your project but larger and with greater payload. But it probable require to set new Denavit-Hartenberg parameters. Is there any easy way to determine them? 2) Why did you install the encoders on the motor shafts, and not on the joints of the arm itself? Isn’t it better for determining the real coordinates of the arm? Does the program allow installing encoders on the joints? Great thanks for this project, it's just unbelievable!

The software allows you to put in your own custom denavit hartenberg parameters. you could put the encoders on the actual joints if you wanted to but mechanically that was a little bit difficult for me as I would have had to redesign some of the components to have through shafts whereas putting encoders on the motors made a fairly streamlined change.

Hi chris this video is amazing you have gone to a lot of trouble I’m planning to watch every one of your videos. The challenge with any robot is the software code and you have even covered that. If I lived in the US I would come over and buy you a coffee. I see the payload is up to 2 kilos I wonder if you maybe interested in a 10 kilogram payload

Interesting, so one movement/commands controls several motors? When I looked at the program I thought each parameter was for each motor.

You can jog each joint individually but when you execute a move command it will command all motors to move together to whatever position you have asked

Are you using the DH Matrix for Inverse Kinematics Calculation or just with Trigometrics and a Rotation Matrix for the spherical wrist?

software looks great is there a way to take this software and make custom 3d printed robot control with other dimensions ? for example no encoders ?

Yes you can setup inputs and outputs to the Arduino board for this purpose.

I'm working on some software updates to make the robot compatible with RoboDK which should be out soon, currently the software doesn't have any simulation capability.

for some reason, i get a permissions error on using my USB port - i just get an error saying access is denied and the program freezes after i "set com" - any ideas?

I used the 3.5 due to its pins being 5v tolerant for the encoder inputs. Not sure if the 4.1 will work but I can check on that.
