A local gas station had this game back in '86. It really did influence and pioneer a lot of fighting games that followed. The first Street Fighter game was an upgrade in many ways of this. Of course the really good fighting games we still play this day came in the early 90s.
and of course if you're good at fighting in real life it translates to a fighting video game you've never played, and I assume the reverse is true as well haha.
I used to love this game, and probably every other arcade game as well, and thought I was pretty good at it. Now I realize how lousy I was. Watching this video is the sweetest revenge. If you haven't played it, it's all about timing. Those flower pots are deadly
Oh man I remember playing this game when Costco sold that arcade cabinets that had a number of old school games that had Street Fighter II, Bubble Bobble etc.
Must be that version that, for some reason, never went past the national tournament stage. It just endlessly looped that stage until you got tired and walked away.
This is the perfect fighting game, if you want to improve your skills. You can’t button mash combos, hoping to land at least one hit. Instead, you have to wait for the right moment to strike.
They used to have this machine in the arcade in my home town in the early 80s. Fisrt time I went to an arcade, I must have been like 6 years old. It left a lasting impression ;o)
@johnnythepr1ck i dont have an arcade cabinet, but a miSTer (which i 100% reccomend). Karate Champ is being released this friday (fpga recreation, playable in CRT tvs). I’m 51 too. So we had the best age for arcade games, right?! 👍👍
game top, acordava no sabado de manhã é pegava meu paizinho jogando na sala, eu ficava horas vendo ele jogar, esse joguinho me lembra minha infancia..... parabens
One of the best fighting games of all time. Takes legit skill but easy enuff to get into.. This dude can one punch a charging bull.. You understand that is low tier superhero level right?
Every place that had this machine always had the US VS version, it seemed a little tougher and the voices were a bit different, it had different fighting locations too, also the machine in the movie 'Bloodsport' is the VS version as well. (2player version)
Questo è uno dei primi giochini da bar che io ricordi. All'epoca ero affascinata dall'omino con il gi bianco.... e ancora di più da quello con il gi rosso. Giochi rudimentalissimi in confronto a quelli di oggi...
2 moves can take u through the entire game easily...first move: flip over opponent and do spinning reverse roundhouse kick and second move: block then full upper punch
Intro music going into those buildings, sounds like the ice cream mean is coming down the street. I guess Covid killed that scene😞. Glad I got to experience it😁
Street Fighter’s main inspiration in terms of a video game mainly takes from Kung Fu Master/Spartan X. The director of Kung Fu Master wanted to take the concept of boss fights in that game and applied it to Street Fighter 1 and add manga/anime elements behind it to really make it stand out from other fighters at the time.
First Full contact fighting game. Now if you want to be technical, Sega did put Heavyweight Champ 12 years earlier, making that the first official fighting game.
Is there ever a point in the game where you kick the water pot, that basketball goal looking structure, or the apples off the other character like it shows in the demo?
You must not know the secret move. After a certain point the computer opponent becomes too fast for humans to react so all you do is crouch then do that front punch move as the attack you. You can go FOREVER with that technique.
