2s are more complex than they're often given credit for. I have had many 2s in my life over the years. Some have been my closest friends, and others have rubbed me the wrong way like no one else could! My biggest struggle in relating to 2s is never knowing for sure when they're being sincere. Is the 2w1 just being polite and sparing my feelings? Is the 2w3 just flattering me? I've watched 2s complain about someone and then immediately rush over to greet that person when they arrive as though they were waiting just for them. As a 5, this really messes with my head, because I don't really understand the value in saying anything other than what you mean. It feels like lying, although I know 2s don't see it that way. To me, kindness giving accurate info so they can understand the situation fully, not making someone feel good temporarily. However some of them are truly the most devoted friends anyone could have. My best friend is a 2, and years ago I had to explain to her that she doesn't need to be of service to me, that I just want to hang out with her! Lol

That’s just cause that person is fake and needs to work on themselves lol. I feel like we should all be kind to each other whether we like them or not, but I’m not going to be fake lol. The fact of the matter is our core desire is to be loved and wanted and we all have the capacity to go about it the wrong way(I know I did as teen especially and still make that mistake now!) Sincerely, a 2w1 lol

My best friend is a 2w1 ENFP, she’s the absolute best. I’m a 1w2 INFJ and we have basically a soulmate level best friendship. She was torn if she was a 2 or 4 (as was I), but when she landed on 2 it all made sense. My mom is a 2w3 ESFJ and before knowing what MBTI was as well as knowing how different the wings present, I was like there’s NO way my bestie is a 2 because she doesn’t seek praise/recognition openly at all.

I’m a 2w1 ENFP. I used to express 4 traits in depression. Thankfully I used nutrition and neural feedback therapy to reverse the pervasiveness of that pattern. Getting into my career, I can definitely say it’s been difficult to find an administrative role to which I am not well suited. I work for the school district at the moment.

After taking the truity test I realize I am a 2w3 with 1 tendencies. I originally thought I was a 4 but then I bought the test and said I was a 2w3. Seems to fit me much better.

I typed my mother 4w3 before but also I think she might be 2 with wing 3 altho she seems like a unhealthy 1 or 2? But the 1 core desires, fears, motivation, etc. Doesn't fits her. So I think she's a 2w3 instead of 4. But still strong I would say. Similar to yours.

I felt that as well! What may help is seeing the direction that the types go in stress and in growth. I thought I was a 4 as well but I learned that type 2 grows into the positive aspects of a healthy type 4 and in stress goes to a type 8, which shows up as explosive anger and like a protective mama bear/ papa bear. Hope you find what you need.😊

My former boss is a 2w1 and everything you said about them being inspiring leaders is spot on for him. I think the skill set that comes with that personality is a big reason why he was such a great mentor for me and remains one of my greatest friends :) Maybe it also helps that his wing is my dominant type, so we have some overlap there 🤷‍♀️ He introduced me to the Enneagram too, long after I worked for him!

Which type is more common, 2w1 or 2w3? All the comments (as of this one being posted) are about 2w1s! Except this comment, of course; I am definitely a 2w3, though everyone thinks I'm a 3. This video was exactly right! ESPECIALLY the parts about the criticism and the chameleon. Again, everyone thinks I'm a 3 because I chameleon so much, most people I know have never seen my vulnerable 2 side. I assure you, I'm a 2w3, not a 3w2. (They're relatively balanced, though!) My favorite part of the video is where the 2w3 is all like "welcome to my house!" and you're like " *this is my house?* " and she's like "yeah and it's THE BEST HOUSE EVER!!" My other favorite part (that might even be my MoSt fAvOrItE) is where she uses the word "waft" when describing the aromas of pies. "Wafting" is such a good word! Love it! ♥

Thanks very much for the explanation, Abbey. I've known that a was a 2 for a while, but wasn't sure of my Wing until now. I can say for certain that I'm a 1 Wing, since I enjoy helping people, and can somehow understand their needs more than my own.

Oddly enough, I am a 5w4 but align closely with 2w1 when I am stressed and trying to over extend myself for others.

You may want to consider 4w5 due to the lines of integration/disintegration. 4w5 and 5w4 can look similar.

I think 2w1 are generally more healthy than 2w3. The 2w1 have some awareness to look inward. 2w3 often show little self awareness and improvement to a healthy state is much less frequent. Also they are prone to white lies and self deceit. If someone has a tip to get a 2w3 to overcome some shame and look inward, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm still sort of torn between the 2 types discussed...I'm very value-driven and I love that rules exist because they keep order, but at the same time, I'm a killer host, I accommodate everyone and I like to have fun and go with the flow. I'm an HSP so it is really hard to figure out which one. The HSP makes me have very firm boundaries on the type of fun that can be had.

Mmmm no. 2's are so misunderstood, i find this video totally unaccurate. Type two is more of a seducer than a helper, they are PRIDEFUL and see themselves as great people, they can have a little of a superiority complex. Also, contrary to popular belief, this is the most agressive and willful type on the enneagram, the soft and nice appearance is just a facade. I think 9s should be called the helpers instead of 2s.
