Pick & Gut video of the ASSA Twin Pro. This is the last Twin on my list for the time being. I have nothing but respect for the Twin series of locks! They are easily my favorite!

I have one of those with custom side-fingers in my Abus 90/50 with the KIK adapter. The ASSA Twin series is officially my favorite brand of lock. I also like the Schlage Primus. I have one of those as well with the PH keyway.

Awesome, I still haven't even tried my DP yet. I probably should at least try before I send it. Now I'm doing videos that would be a nice one to have on there. Got a 4800 coming too. Right now I'm picking the Trioving I want to send you.

my fav lock too!! I can't wait till I have the skill to actually pick it I asked locknoob if he could and he said he don't think he's there yet and directed me to you but great vid and u got a new subscriber if you ever wanna swap some locks I'll ship first just on me looking forward to seeing ur other vids!

Thanks Ken! I really appreciate your watching, and I'm proud to have earned your subscription! I honestly think picking these locks is much more about determination than it is about skill I actually gave myself a repetitive stress injury in my elbow on the first Twin I picked due to all the twisting motion to pick the side pins, LOL. Thanks again for watching man, and as I said, please give a yell if I can help out at all :) I'll keep you in mind for trades. I'm a bit low on material at the moment, but will probably be getting some more things in early next month.

Very nice picking bro! I'm really impressed by the time it took to. I would love to pick one myself. Where do you suggest I look for one of these locks? I'm going to get one of those and the twin combi to get the feel of the high end Assa locks and hopefully I will have my channel up and running so I can do it on camera and I hope that is soon. I like how you take precautionary methods of keeping the lock from being damaged by the pick. I will do the same thing. Keep on picking!

Thanks Drew! I've gotten all of mine on eBay, but that's not to say I've gotten deals. This one shipped to me from Bulgaria and I spent about $100 on it by the time it made it to my door. I think eBay alerts are about the best option. They show up here and there and you just have to pounce on them when you see them.

Such an awesome amazing pick my friend. No way I could do that... And especially in the time line you did it in. 😲 Oh yeah, I wanted to ask if you have picked an Assa V10? I have a few of them and they are kicking me in the #&$/! LOL I'll send you one of them if you want. And lastly, I got the order into Medeco for more keys to the Duracams I sent out. So I will be getting a key for yours.
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
WOW! I'm really surprised that you found a way to get some keys for that Duracam! Please do let me know how much I owe you! I would love to have a key for that lock! I have not picked a v10 proper, but this one has the same configuration and pins as a v10. These are my favorite locks, so I'm always happy to pick another one, but you should hang on to them and get them picked! Once you pop one, you're going to want to go for more, LOL :)
@Steel-Pinnings
@Steel-Pinnings 7 лет назад
Oh cool, I didn't even notice the similarities in them. Lol But the sidebar pins have the same configuration in the gates but the difference between them is the little fingers have a slightly different shape to them. But that's the only difference I can tell between this one and the V10 I have. Cheers & Happy Pickin! !

Another great video. Like you said. The Assa pro are like hen's teeth.lol do you reckon the master wafers make it easier to pick?
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
Thanks man! Really appreciate your watching and the kind words! As for the master wafers, they probably make less of a difference in this lock than most. The reason is that it's quite difficult to overset pins for some reason. Since the lip of the barrel spool is below the countermilling, you have to lift all of them out of it before a master wafer could really be of much help. Getting those sharp lips above the sheer line is the real challenge, but if you did manage to overset one, the master wafers could help.

@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
The principle of operation is really quite similar to the Medeco cam locks, but with more pins. In theory I see no reason it cannot be picked methodically... It's just a matter of getting my hands on one.
@chefgav1
@chefgav1 7 лет назад
tumbl3r bilock are unique and tricky no driver pins 2 sidebars with multiple false gates with up to 4 pin depths per pin. Very common in Australia
@Steel-Pinnings
@Steel-Pinnings 7 лет назад
tumbl3r Hey guys, sorry to but in but LPL did a bilock too. Now I can't say it was a true AU. Bilock. But it sure fooled me. And yes that isn't a big feat to overcome. Cheers, Happy pickin!

Have u seen the defcon video where they bypass the side bar on the medico was just wondering if the same bypass applied I have seen a few of these in the UK but only seem to have 2 or 3 side bar pins they are very expensive locks I would be to scared to pick one then gut it I see a lock as a jigsaw but this lock is insane
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
I'm not aware of a Medeco sidebar bypass. I know there has been some bumping, but there is no bypass that I know of. Granted, my focus is not on bypasses, but I honestly can't see how one would be possible with the Medeco system. It's a very good design. LOl... Yeah, when you get into these ultra hi-sec locks, the parts counts start getting pretty high. I'm always nervous the first time I tear into a lock, but I get more comfortable the more time I spend with it.
@andersjjensen
@andersjjensen 7 лет назад
Nice work! Could you please go over the side pins in the same kind of detail as the tension answer you gave Dwight Boyd? It boggles my mind how you'd distinguish the false gates from the true ones, at least until you hit the last one right and the side bar falls all the way in.
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
I'm super happy to go into detail, but it's much more difficult to explain than it is to show. When the sidebar protrusions are in their false gates, the inward pressure resulting from the rotational tension on the lock drive them into the pins... This makes them feel tightly bound. When they are in true gates, they are hovering in space because other pins / protrusions are preventing the sidebar from retracting fully. This results in them feeling slightly loose. Like top pins, sidebar pins have a binding order. Simply find the one that is binding, click it up and test for "jiggle" if it jiggles, move on and find another pin that feels tightly bound. Now, all this is vastly oversimplified for this lock. The binding order changes with the lifted height of the side pins, and a pile of other complexities, but that's the general gist. Take a look at my "everything I know about" video on the EVVA 3KS (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h9JnOEtZaeg.html). At 7:03 I describe this test and demonstrate with the parts how it works. This is a very different lock, but the principle is identical.

Thanks a bunch for the reply. I know that I am not yet nearly skilled enough to tackle one of these, but my fingers itch every time i look at the Ruko Grant Plus.. now at least I have an idea on what to look for. For those who don't know the Ruko Garant Plus, it is a countermilled and sleeved core with Assa spools and a side bar with double/half width pins, making it 10 in total: www.ruko.dk/da/site/rukodk/til-private/produkter/garant-plus/garant-plus-eksplosionstegning/

I wish I had something that used an oval cylinder so I could actually use the lock BC I honestly don't think I'll be picking ANY TIME soon
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
I bet you can get into it sooner than you think. Take it apart, study it, and use a progressive pinning strategy to learn how all the feedback works.
@lindaphillips8303

Are these like the medico locks ? They look very similar
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
Not really. With Medeco the keypins also include the gates for the sidebar. With these, the sidebar interacts with discrete pins that act as a standalone element.
@rcatyvr
@rcatyvr 7 лет назад
Very small detail. I watched it several times over but it seems that when you turned the bible around, you put the assa spool from 6 in cup six--but from position 5 in cup four (at 12:46), and 4 in cup five (at 12:50). The pick was a delight to watch and the side bar pins are wicked indeed.
@tumbl3r
@tumbl3r 7 лет назад
I sure did... Great catch on that one. I kind of reversed everything and had a brain fade on the second to last pin, LOL. Thanks for watching man! And for your comment :)

you said they're valuable?? I have a twin combi that's an oval how much do they normally go for?? at least I think it's a twin combi I could send u a pick if u can tell me exactly what I have it was a gift so I'm not sure.

They are very tough to come by on this side of the pond. I would say they are worth upward of $100.00 if you have keys.
