Beginning a new chapter (again) | goals, intentions, direction 

Greetings from Canada! This video is a lovely gentle set of musings. I agree with you…as I get older (now in my seventies ) I rely more on valuing my inner self and my purpose to this universe rather than things which seem to clutter my life’s path. Thank you for your podcasts…intelligent and insightful!

Dearest Helle, though I am catching up on your videos and a little behind, I’m sending warm wishes for you in 2023! I too worked many years as a mechanical designer. A job I loved but over time became more and more computer heavy with navigating databases, document control systems, procedures for even the simplest of things that eventually I lost interest and put my energy into my love of yoga by getting my teacher’s cert. In our computer heavy world, it just feels so good to feel embodied & existing in the tangible world! Then got excited and went back to school for a degree in Physical therapy. After graduating, I continued to teach yoga 3-4 times a week, at gyms, studios as well as psychiatric hospitals. After about 4 years I decided to pull back for some contemplation. I’m not working at all right now. I have been working since I was 15 years old, I’m now 58 and must admit it takes some getting used to. I am excited to see where my heart takes me next. But for now I am enjoying being present and just being. I enjoy your videos very much. Thanks so much for creating and sharing with us! 💛

I was recently laid off from my medical research job, something I have done for 10 years and loved. I was a primary care doctor for 25 years before that. I am 62 and not ready to retire, but we moved to Washington State where I do not have a medical license. We hope to move back to California next year, where I do still maintain a license and I look forward to doing patient care again. So I am in a stasis for now....decluttering, teaching myself to knit, doing some quilting. Taking long walks with my dog, doing interesting food projects like making soy yogurt and japanese rice bran pickles. I feel so much gratitude that looking back all the years of hard work are giving returns. My adult son seems happy on a good career path for him, my husband enjoys his work still, we own a home, and hopefully have saved enough for retirement. I feel now is the time to give back and looking a volunteer medical service i my community. So many underserved people in the USA as we do not have socialized medicine. I think being a yoga teacher is a laudable calling! We need older role models for dynamic aging and yoga is so multifaceted and rich I think could be very nourishing for your soul.

Just watching this episode, I remembered that you remind me very much of a teenage friend of mine. Her name is Joanna Vells and she not only had a similar face and manner, but she was so much like you. So thanks for the memory jog from 50 years past. Hugs

I just found your podcast yesterday. I really enjoyed this posting. I am 65, had different careers, attended college for 16 years and looking forward to leaving my day job sometime this year because it brings me no joy. I found that I love working sports so I have different jobs with the Rockies, Nuggets and Avalanche ( I live south of Denver in Colorado). I also have knit since I was 5 years old, and I so loved your sweater video as we have similar tastes. I am looking forward to my new directions, intentions and travels with my husband of almost 25 years. Kathy

Ha! Well, I suppose I am in the right place with your podcasts. Again, like you I took a knitting break for many years, and also decided to step away from a university faculty position. My departure took my colleagues by surprise as all was going quite well at that time. But I knew a change was needed - other life elements were calling/pulling me. Making that decision was both quite simple and incredibly difficult. Perhaps, as you suggest, leaning into that uncertainty was an inner drive to learn more. Thank you for provoking thought

Just another beautiful and thoughtful video, Helle. It is always best to follow your heart. We have such a short time on earth, we should make the best of it and try to fulfil our dreams. Interesting to hear that writing is your passion. You must be very good at writing because you are speaking so well, so structured, so pleasant and yet so emotional. I could listen to you all day. By the way, I think there is no woman in this world who looks better without make-up than you. You are a natural beauty - inside and outside.

Helle, first asking to wish you all the best for 2023 and hoping it will really be the way you wish it to be. This is a wonderful video, as most of them. I do not remember if I have asked you before, but something technical - what camera and what video editing do you use?

I've been toying with an idea about getting a camera and filming something along the lines of my daily life. However, I'm soon to be 71 and not sure if I'm up to learning how to film and edit a vlog. I know there are "how to videos" on RU-vid and if for nothing else, the cost for camera, portable microphone an other equipment seems pretty expensive if I find I don't wand to pursue something like that. Anyway, thanks again for taking me along on a walk in your beautiful country side!
