If we never cross paths at Whiteys and no we probably did at the Golden Cue LOL. I still remember when I was in the hospital my brother had to keep reassuring me that he grabbed my cue-stick out of my car. All the things I have adapted to and figured out how to do blind, that’s one I just can’t figure out. I appreciate the great memories you always dig up, thank you sir.
That story hit home. My dad owned a pool hall from my being a kid, to a late teen. I used a $500 cue left with my dad as collateral in a big money match. I was taught by a 75 yr old gentleman. Being young, I was a target of hustlers. They didn't fare so well. My teacher was the Mr. Miyagi of pool.
I absolutely love your shirt hope alot of people get thats from Tommy boy what a great movie. Chris Farley was amazing wish we had him still today would be amazing
My GrandFather had a table in his basement and us grandkids would play during the holidays. He once told me: “ no matter how good you are, there will always be someone better than you so don’t let anyone fool you” He was talking about more than about just playing pool. Lesson always stuck with me not to trust anyone trying to take my money!
Yo man ive been following you for a while and I finally took the plunge into car sales. I started selling on the 3rd, I sold 6 cars so far and I had my first big deal this month. I’m hooked man, I appreciate all your stories. It was one of the things that made me take the plunge.
The PBR cans and the wash tubs from the house party scene came from my house. They gave my dad 2 new washtubs for his beat up ones and 2 cases of beer for a truck load of empties.
That reminds me of when I used to hang out with a couple of semi-pro players. It was pretty amazing to watch them when the really got serious. We used to play a series of games they had with alternating partners taking shots to keep people from just running the table.
Always a pleasure big fella, but you're great at taking me back to my younger days, grew up with tables in my Dad & Uncles homes, now I'm older & I have both those tables, one in my house, the other in my warehouse storage with my car's, they get used regularly, & the heavier cue you use, I've got one too, 153cm tall, 55kg soaking wet, Rj in Oz
Good story . That's a good looking table. Reminds of a Jim Croce song. Spent a lot of time in pool halls growing up. Dad would be playing cards in the back or basement. I always had a pocket full of quarters for the table, video games or jukebox. Good times......
I remember my best friend's dad owned a bar in our little town in Wyoming. We would go in before the bar opened and "warm the tables up". About 3 years ago one of the tables that was in that bar came up for sale and we bought it for a "shop table". It needs alot of work but it'll get done..
Great story, Rob. I grew up playing pool. My dad sold pool tables for a living, so I was around pool players and pool halls as I grew up. I have a nice pool table in my home today and my own custom-made cue.
Rabbit, you ever hear the story of that one hustler that played pool but also hustled golf. He discovered some golf legends. I can’t recall his name but hid story is good reading
I love Rob, he seems like the kind of guy that would send me a beer in a lonely bar with 6-7 people there to see open mic and me just trying my best to make those 6-7 people have a good time. haha. =)
I was playing foe ten a game in Brighton Beach and beating all comers. Russian dude steps up and he just runs the table. We're going a second game, he breaks, nothing. I said "I 'll bet you $200 you don't get another shot this game." I pull out 2 hundred dollar bills in the light over the table. He borrows some cash off somebody, puts up the money. First shot I sink the 8 ball so I lost but...he didn't get another shot that game. Guy wasn't even mad - I 'm sure he used that hustle.
I remember back in college, i was able to take bowling as PE. the guy teaching that class would just hold the ball in his palm and just toss it down the lane. He'd get a strike just about every time without using the finger holes. He'd show us how to bowl normally; but said it was a bit boring for him. It was a fun PE class. I haven't been bowling in a decade i think. :(
Man Rob... that's great.. I grew up in a bar room that my father owned from the time I was about 9 years old let's get a few pool hustling stories of my own from those years... Great stuff rabbit keep it coming
I am confused, how did your seller get the car in that game of pool? I want to know more about that particular story, like what the previous owner’s reaction was when he lost his baby.
Sounds like some good old pa hustle in the south. Here in Pennsylvania we get some good players out once in a while these boys get mad when someone younger takes their money cmon
_The smoke in that poolroom hung like a fog_ _When he talked it sounded like a growling dog_ _He said would you care for a dollar on the five or nine?_
Used to get day games at Balley's (next to Hooters on the Motor Mile). If it rained in the morning, a lot of the outside workers would descend on the pool halls and the bars. I remember seeing 'Open Hours' signs having 'And when it rains' posted.
Oh that sounds good: melted chocolate inside the dash. That really ups the resale value. I think you'll be okay here, they have a thin candy shell. 'Surprised you didn't know that. I think your brain has a thick candy shell.
There's was never anyone to beat my grandfather on his table. I met many pool sharks that told me they come over and whip my grandfather with no problem. That's when I'd pull out a $100 slam on the table and say let's go. Most thought it was bullshit but the first guy that ever came over from the pool hall for that hundred found out. He came played 5 games a hundred a game he went home broke beat by a 75 year old man in his basement. End of the night grandpa would split money with me. I played that man for 30 some years and never won a fair game. He won't let me win when I was a kid no way he would as a adult.
I used to frequent the Billiard parlor in my hometown. For some reason, going there to shoot some 8-ball or 9-ball, or even, God forbid, Snooker meant you were an agent of old Slewfoot himself in the eyes of many people! Granted, a lot of the patrons weren't exactly what you'd call, civic leaders or pillars of the community. The closest thing to "Hustlers" we're a couple of Jewish brothers whose Dad owned a clothing store that catered to African American men since the early 60s. The best way to describe it was, "Pimp" clothes. But he had a whole wall from top to bottom of nothing but Chuck Taylor All-Stars in every size and color that Converse made. All in all, them's was some fun times! 🐇is good 🐇is wise
@@timkinley1779 awesome man yeah I watch a rogen video he talks about playing pool the next video I watch is rabbit talking about pool and that quick reaction of talk shit comes out it’s like as simple as can be. Over thinking it when it was a harmless shit talk
Hey man, I love your content and watch every damn video. Keep up the great work. However, your camera that is on you at 2:41 is out of focus man. It is focused on where your hands are, not on you. Just wanted to let you know.
Holy shit Rob, a 25 ounce cue ?!?! Why didn't you just use a baseball bat ???? I'd break with a 19 & usually shot with a 17 & on special occasions, had a special 15 oz. I'd use. A guy your size should never need such a heavy cue. Shooting pool is about finesse, not power. But if it works for you, excellent.
Well that kind of went off the rails... you started off talking about the blue Corvette.. tell about you and somebody else shooting pool we need to know more about how the Corvette deal went down
