Hey Chris I’m 19 and building my own 72 chevelle I’ve been watching your videos for almost three years now and have made good progress on it, your videos have been so helpful and motivating. The only reason why my “car”is where it is is because of your videos keep up the great content can’t wait to see the chevelle in the near future !🤟🏻
Been awhile since I took out a big block and put one back in, about 42 years to be exact. Great video brother, I don't think I forgot a dammed thing, just don't know if my back would hold up to the job. Thanks for bringing back those memories son.
You have the best videos, Chris! I really appreciate them. I am halfway done with my 4 speed conversion and building a junkyard 454. You have a lot of knowledge, and thank you for helping me with my 71 Chevelle all along the way lol!
I had a 65 Chevelle swapped in a 396. Now I have a 65 El Camino with 350. By far the Big Block was easier and fit better. Spark Plugs easier as well. Old Appliance headers .. #1 Header tube had a slip tube (Genius) you take out for plug changes. Today with Remflex Gaskets a piece of cake. Miss the Big Block! Great Vids! I rewired my El Co and your vids help a lot!
great video doing a 454 in my 1966 biscayne ,ordered a pully kit from cvf racing pulling 350 out with the trans first .crank pully not lining up calling customer service .not lining up with water pump fan pully. mine is a freshly built 454 . great help watching your video.gary
Thanks for damn great video! I'm restoring an all original 72 MC w/fact 402 and have learned alot from you. WIsh I lived closer to you, I'd pay you to show me more.
When I got my block back from machine shop, where you have the oil line above the filter, has a plug there; but I think I'll run copper line from there to the gauge.
You are using Stock valve covers with the metal tabs for spark plug wire retainers, I have been looking all over for retainers that will accept larger than 7mm with no luck. what size wires are you using, where did you get those retainers?
Chris I have a 70 Chevelle I am put a big block in . I have hooker headers . Did you have to beat the headers much ? I am thinking the power steering box or upper control arm ( drivers side ) is going to get in the way .
I didn’t have to beat anything... I have hooker 2” primary competition plus 3.5” collector.. I did have to take the steering shaft off and you might have to modify the passenger upper a frame studs
I have the same DAMN oil pan, I was told, a former small block guy, big blocks thrive on oil. It didn't leak at first, now I got a seam to repair with the engine in the car, Mark IV 454, not much room. Any how to's?
Chris I have a1971 Chevelle had a small block in it I have replaced it with a big block. Now when putting it back in I have a 350th transmission in it and the cross member and trans mont is to high when I get the cross member under transmission the tail housing is up against the bottom of the floor. The car I bought from a person in Texas I don't know to much about the car, nice rust free car but don't know how to fix the problem, could the cross member be bent some how? Looking for help!! ,
they only had 1 crossmember.. for all stock transmissions… you might have the wrong one in the car… or wrong trans mount .. th350, th400. 4 speed.. all the same .. maybe you have a truck trans mount or something.. the stock trans mount is only about 2” high and rectangle
Thanks for the reply Chris. I tried a different ordered reman. But it was the same. I think from some of the info I'm reading is that I'm going to try body mounts, some people think thats a good place to try.
Chris... I have a 72 Chevelle with a 454 in it that I'm trying to pull out. I'm new to this but I think I removed everything but the trandmission is still attached, I clearly removed all the bolts from the transmission/engine connection because there is a gap but when I'm pulling it out the transmission still wants to come with it. Is there something underneath the trans, around, on top, it hidden screw ...? What am I missing ...? Please advise.
@@bighomieced4277 there are (3) 9/16" bolts from the flex plate(flywheel) to the torque converter..i usually get 2 wrenches to take them off because you have to spin it to get all 3 off.. you can only reach 1 at a time
@@chriscraft77022 do I need to drop the transmission to get to the fly wheel bolts ...? The bell housing is in the way. I'm thinking remove the cross member, remove drive shaft, drop transmission, then I have access to remove the fly wheel bolts ...?
Hey Chris Craft, Tyler Craft here with a Chevelle question 😂 I have a 454 in my 69’. Ive removed motor and front clip, I was told it’s “too low” because the guys frankensteined the motor mounts. You have an email I could sent you photos to see what you think? I’m worried that there’s not enough meat left due to hack job
