@@jimmyc00l I had plenty of fun back then, believe me, but after a while the fun ceased to exist and I wanted something else. I finished up school and started a business and a family, and the best time of my life began when I quit partying. The people I partied with, however, all these years later have not stopped all have miserable lives, the ones who are still alive or not in jail, and the only time they are happy is when they've spent the last of their money in a bar trying to relive their past. It's entirely subjective. As someone who is often on both sides of the bar, I perfectly understand when a bartender cuts me off after I've had one too many as I have had to do so myself in order to protect not just yourself, but other guests as well. People have different levels of tolerance not just to alcohol, but anything they ingest. Mixing alcohol and often times illegal drugs makes things worse. Choosing one over the other at least limits the damage caused.
@alexmousley7213

I totally agree. Though a lot of people, because it is legal, don't see alcohol as the drug it is, it is as much a drug as any illegal one, but, of course, it is made under licence and quality controlled. It is one of the most destructive drugs consumed overall, I am not saying this as holier than thou as I consume alchohol, too, though a lot less than I used to, my body cannot process it well and I don't enjoy being very drunk (seeing other people drunk is pretty offputting, too!) @@jameswright4236

I was the head of security for a bar in the late 70’s early 80’s. Disco was the flavour of the day. We had very specific rules. -Dress code: no jeans, no collarless shirts, no work boots, no ball caps. Dress hats were allowed. No jackets or coats. Have to be checked. -No weapons. - Already drunk=no entry. Get overtly intoxicated while in the club, time to go home. -No standing or walking with your drinks. The staff will move your drink from one table to another. -Harassing a woman, a warning and any more out for the night. -Grabbing a woman, out for the night. -Any fighting, you’re out for the night. -Fight with the staff, you’re barred for life. Anyone put out for a night, gets a one to one chat on the next visit. Anything less than accepting responsibility, no entry. 20 years into my policing career, I started training bouncers on the law, de-escalation and removal techniques. Just being tough isn’t enough. You need to learn from those that have been around.
@lordmfitzgerald3rd754
@lordmfitzgerald3rd754 2 года назад
I’m SIA I’ve worked the doors. A lot of those rules do need to come back and be a bit more strict now. Was only a few years ago where trainers were even allowed into the clubs. But now, I wouldn’t want anyone to leave their drinks unattended (girls) cause of the spiking that happens.

@@lordmfitzgerald3rd754 Agreed. Things have improved in some ways with mandatory employee training on their responsibilities with over serving and caring for highly intoxicated customers but as well as the authority that the staff have to removed people from a private establishment governed by liquor laws. People are still people and some of them can be extremely criminal and it's the doormen's job to sort them out from the folks just trying to live their lives.

Absolute amateurs. You never let someone go that is that drunk. The fact that the drunk fell and smashed his eye orbit is entirely the doorman's fault. You get someone like that the help they need. Bartenders should have cut him off for a start. Even if the bartender fails, the bar in general has a responsibility to get him home, or if he is that bad, to hospital. The fact they did not recognize that makes them amateurs. This is exactly how a bar gets sued and shutdown. The owner needs to fire those morons immediately and get professional door staff.
