Love you Bill, thank you for bringing to light this guy’s characteristics; “Ludicrous”, homophobic, chauvinistic, arrogant…

It seems we are all creating our own version of god. Some of us are just more creative than others.

Ultimately this guy is an apologist for the LDS church wanting oh so much for the BOM & the Pearl of Great Price to be true & for us to come on board.

Would be a great podcast for you to critically pick this old interview apart with the further light and knowledge that you now possess.

I read this guy's books and his analysis of the atonement made me throw up my hands and none of it made any sense after that. I can't say that it broke my shelf, but I couldn't logic my way through religion anymore.

Not a fan of this guy. All over the map. In fact there's more evidence of the Bible than there ever has been the Book of Mormon and he is not addressing this.. Really?

When was this originally recorded? I think Bill has reached puberty, and his voice has changed since then. 😜

Bill, I notice that Blake was wearing a pearl necklace-he must have been horrified.

50:00 I get that this whole section reflects a nearly decade-old position, but it's no less frustrating to hear (funny how a lot of these arguments are the same as or have strong parallels to the current anti-trans arguments). I hope Ostler has mover on this topic since. That said, his leaning into the idea that there is a "moral" difference between heterosexual and homosexual relationships should hopefully be recognized as absurd on its face (unless one relies on a recursive, "faith"-based argument). For someone professing to be nuanced on the issue of will and divine foreknowledge, Ostler's view on sexuality is profoundly unnuanced and unstudied. It is also is very representative of the sort of "benevolent homophobia" that has dominated LDS culture since the Prop 8 campaign. Again, I hope his views have changed. Mine certainly have over this same period of time.

Why does Bill show old podcasts setting forth beliefs that he no longer holds and why does he put on the infamous Blake Ostler to turn logic and honesty upside down? To prove Bill was once a airhead believer? No. To make money, pure and simple. Bill, if you don't have something new to say that you haven't said a hundred times maybe it's time to move on.

The mental gymnastics he uses to try and justify that Smith is a prophet and the Mormon church is true is hilarious. If it looks like a duck and quack's like a duck than it's a duck!
