After we manage to diagnose the car has cracked exhaust manifold , the client decided to buy new aftermarket unit ( cast iron exhaust manifold , not new OEM style ) and change it . Some owner decide to buy second hand from E39 , but in my opinion the brand new ones are much better choice . This problem is happening to most of this cars with M57 / M47 engines install in them . It was kind of tough job but we manage to do it .

Nice video, I changed a customers car to the same manifold you used. I left the turbo etc in position but removed the rocker cover/air filter housing for better access from above

Yes i prefer , to do it that way . But the owner didn't want me to remove the valve cover and the injectors , so i ended up removing it from bottom .

hi i have the same problem with the manifold but also with the first start can you please tell me why on first start the engine is shaking just like yours when you start it

Hi thanks for your video I've had a nightmare trying to find the egt plug its really awkward to get to can it be plugged in from the top? Thanks

I changed from e39. Fits perfectly and much better than original e60.

Before the aftermarkets , the only option was from E39 , but they are really rare now days , so aftermarket is the only option .

Can you post a video of doing it from the top next time please if you do another car. By removing the intake manifold injectors and valve cover . And if removing valve cover is it best to put new valve cover gasket. In terms of tools ..is it just.ratchet set, Torx bits or any non general tools needed?. Is it essential to do studs to manufacturer torque numbers or do it tight by hand ?. Sorry to sound a pain but there are not many d.i.y guides online for this so want to be sure. I have done swirl flaps myself so think I can do this. What could go wrong

Hello! Do the gaskets make sense? I changed the gallery and the gaskets but there is smoke coming out of the gaskets, what is the cause?

I have cahanged on mine with out removing turbo, only air pipes and filter and egr metal pipe

Just type "cast iron exhaust manifold e60" , lets say in aliexpress or ebay or amazon search box , i think most of them are the same :)

Здравей и поздравления за добре свършената работа. Исках да те попитам болтовете към колектора ОК те се сменят а самите шпилки нужно ли е? Как се извършва тази процедура. И друго което се чудя нужно ли е да се сваля ТУРБОТО няма спор че има повече място и поглед за работа,но колектора си мисля че може отгоре от към филтъра да се свали в най лошия случай само да отхлабим болтовете който държат турбото за малко луфт....

По-принцип ако се свали капака на клапаните отгоре , се открива най-добре колектора , но затова трябва да се свалят и дюзите . За мен това е най-добрия начин , но излиза по-скъпо за клиента . В този случай турбото не се сваля да , само се развиват 3-те болта отгоре . Иначе ако ти се дерат ръце и не мислиш да почистиш добре повърхността където ляга колектора , можеш да го свалиш без да свалят и двете даже , ама аз лично не бих го направил по-този начин .

Батка ! Какъв размер са болтовете на турбото, трите 12то стенните? Видеото ти мн ми помага ,защото искам да я правя таз гимнастика по тоя начин. Понеже знам колко време може да отнеме ваденето на инжекторие , а ще го правя на улицата и нямам мн варианти :D :D :D П.П. Акцента ти верно е труден за разбиране, но съм късметлия , че и аз съм от морето :D

Ако говориш за главата на болтовете , ако не ме лъже паметта беше 12мм , ама си вземи и 13мм за всеки случай .

Да. 12мм дванадесетостен са. В комплекта нямаше гарнитура за егр. Вчера пристигна и тя . Като се върна от холидей ще гледам да я свърша тая работа, само дето на мен пръта на волана ми минава от там И ще трябват повече псувни 😁

Hello mate. Good video. Can you just confirm underneath the car what needs to be removed...to get access to bolts? Was it difficult to open the studs on manifold were the siezed.? And how are the studs Removed...do they pop out when nuts are turned

Everything you need to remove its filmed , guess u can go without removing the turbo but the access to the nuts will be nightmare . Its really good idea to clean the surface on the cylinder head where the exhaust manifold will be attached , so turbo housing must be removed for that or you will be doing it blindly . Actually no studs camed out when i was undoing the nuts , guess because they wasn't really tight .

Crank ok thank's. If the studs didn't come out...how did you replace them with new one or did you leave original studs in?. And also there are 12 nuts for manifold are all of them access from under car . I am planning to do this on my E60 525d m57. I have ordered the kit off eBay . Just doing research and planning. I don't have a ramp ....is it possible to do on ground by using axle stand and trolley jack. A garage have priced me £200 so want to attempt myself

You don't need to install new studs , the original ones are OK . But if you want to change them , probably you can use the counter nut way for removing and installing them . Yes you can remove all the nuts from underneath if you have long enough hands :D I removed the last ones ( to the front of the car ) from the top . As i said in the end of the video , i totally prefer to do this job from the top , by removing the injectors and valve cover , mostly because its going to have much more room to clean the cylinder head after removing the exhaust manifold . Its good idea to change the gasket yes .

Не братан эта не турбина виновата у тя. Меняй коллектор 100%.

Бывает ещё что неправильно установлен фильтр воздуха. Надо его крепче при крутить. Или это в коллекторе у тебя трещины. Тогда менять надо коллектор.

Здравей, предстой ми смяна след 2 дни и ще си го правя сам, видях много теми в чуждестранни форуми и обясняват как вадят колектора без да махат нищо друго освен въздушния филтър за да достигнат 3те болта, след това с добра ръка се стигало всичко нужно за развиване на колектора и изваждане през дупката. Възможно ли е или да не се хващам изобщо?
