That damn Supra!!😂 it just is such a good drivers car for the money. Just be an adult and put aside the politics on the car! It’s fun, fast, light, incredible handling, great gas mileage, sounds great, unique and controversial looks that make people argue! I LOVE mine, have had it 2 years and it’s perfect in almost every way for me. And I’m 64 years old!
When you learn to first drive with a manual it's really hard to find the courage to trust any automatic transmission. First off I'm trained in a 1980 blue firebird. 1984 Cressida. I have driven the best yodas. I pick Toyota.
Gotta admit, the B58 sounds so much better than the S58. I had a 2020 X3 M40i then went to a 2023 X3M 2 weeks ago. Miss the higher pitched pops and crackles.

Close races! Having a manual G80 race against the previous gen M3 and the less HP but lighter B58 powered Supra made all the sense in the world - in order to make this a compelling and entertaining video. Watching a G80 XDrive dust both cars would have been a boring 1 car race with a determined ending. Great choices and good to see your M3 pushing it out there Sam!

The B58 will go down as one of the most sought after engine swaps in the next 8 years . I also think the VR30 will be up there too just because of how many there will be available.

@@marcuswatson7566 Its a BMW engine thing - they say they make those numbers, but when folks dyno them they are almost making them at the wheels....happens across all models of the turbocharged motors. The 2020 on the dyno appears to be making almost 400 while the 2021+ appear to be making almost 450.
@@MisterSkizzels dyno is not real horsepower. It's called "overboost" and it kicks in only for a few moments when the engine is warmed up. It's not just BMWs but almost any other car shows more horsepower on the dyno than in real life. It would be pretty illegal if BMW claims a lower horsepower than the car actually has.

most of the autos are competitions which is also 30hp more than a manual, we have locally few tuned G80Xdrive and G80 6spd and manual usually wins on top end races (same mods on both car) but driver plays a big factor
This video is absolute backward garbage. Car wow did a tuned supra vs a stock M4. And this still didn't happen. M4 driver can't drive or the supra ain't stock. 😂
It makes 370-390 rwhp which is closer to 440 bhp on a 3370 lb car. In all fairness, the other bmws actually dyno higher too though. All of them have underrated numbers.
Reasons why the supra is faster: 1-single turbos has the advantage at higher rpms than twins 2-supra wieghts less 3-its been proven by duyno results that supras make more than 400hp stock at the crank 4-better aerodynamics

I can only imagine what the upcoming GR MN Supra is gonna be. S58 from the G8x paired with the DCT from F8x. One can only hope the rumors are gonna turn out to be true. Owning a MT G80, I love the S58.
Wanna see a newer 240i vs 340i vs Supra. All use the same engine. Wonder if the weight on the Supra will allow it to keep up. Also curious if the 240i has anything on the 340i.
As an owner of BMW M, I would say the Toyota Supra is a way better BMW. As it is using Toyota electrical parts (which skipped most of the bmw electrical issues) and having the performance of an M4. The perfect BMW award goes to Toyota GR Supra.
@V1perKiller Typical electrical parts like Anti Theft System (CAS ECU), speed sensors, air conditioning components which prone to failure in bmw no longer an issue in Supra. Those are the electrical parts I am talking about
@@GrandSavrify not sure where you got this info from, but you are wrong period. I use Bimmercode to talk to all the modules as if it's a BMW Z4, if it was Toyota made modules it would not be possible.
@V1perKiller Yes of course you can as it is a total bmw for something inside the engine bay, but it is definitely not 99.9% unless you are comparing BRZ and GR86. Toyota still produces the body and some other parts.
Why didn't you use the g80 m3 with 8 zen? That's the max power output for the model, as the f80 is here racing in max power output. That would be more along the lines of fair racing
So I bought a Supra finally because I’ve always wanted one, and I’ve always wanted a m3 too so after seeing this I’m so happy to say I have a Supra right now haha

Thanks for giving us 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Was wondering if it's possible to list the DA (density altitude) for the day that you run the cars as it helps correct the times for bad or good weather.
Ontario is at sea level. So, definitely not an issue with density altitude. It is just real world numbers on normal asphalt and not prep'ed surfaces. Besides. they were low-to-mid 12s, which is what their magazine numbers are in the same ballpark.
@@2ZZGE100 density altitude is a formula for weather conditions and actual altitude. If you know the date, location and time it's pretty easy to look up. DA corrected numbers for 1/4 mile times is very good info when comparing performance data for different days. So if you see these cars in future vids and they run totally different 1/4 mile times the driver might not be the reason.
@@racer247 Of course I know that. I do Dragy GPS runs myself at 4000 DA and 3600 feet elevation in Alberta . I am saying the Toronto Ontario runway where they conduct the test is at sea level and the density altitude at that place on early spring or late the winter when this test was done, was around or below 1000 feet, which is as good as it can get. I can show it to your if needed. People typically can run as good a time as one could imagine
@@2ZZGE100 yeah I agree 👍, now that Sam is posting times and shooting videos in advance it's good to know the DA on the day he shoots. You do realize even in late winter or early spring DA can change by 1000 to 1500 on the same day and 2000 to 3000 during a given week. Ontario had Temps in the high 70's a few weeks ago. People will compare the times in this video to times in future videos and not realize without DA it's useless.
@@racer247 Late fall/early spring actually I checked, Toronto Ontario even gets into the -500 feet density altitude (YYZ airport shows historical figures of even -700 feet in March/April months) and a lot of days when the density altitude is in the negatives because it is at sea level to begin with and Canadian winters and early springs are very cold/dense. Keep that in mind. I gave the worst case scenario in hot summers where it goes up to 1000 - 1500 feet density altitude and that is in July/August when it is very hot and thin air at around 35 - 38 C, but in colder/denser months of early spring/late winter (March/April), Toronto has mostly in the negatives so most likely they were running under ideal density altitude. Also, you need to realize, turbocharged cars are not like naturally aspirated cars. You can read it up. Turbocharged cars compensate for thinner/dry air with higher density altitudes as the turbo ECU will compensate for thinner/dry, which is why turbocharged cars are not affected like the naturally aspirated cars. That is why the correction formula is different for N/A cars versus FI cars. Though, that does not apply here as they are starting out with nearly perfect density altitude here to begin with.
It would be cool to have seen a g80 with the 8 speed auto but with rwd only. That way it wouldn’t have the traction advantage of the x drive but it would be able to keep up with other two autos.
That supra is fast off the line! Good race. I remember when weight wasn't even considered back in the day. You either win or lose during a race. But, you can see it plays a major role.
The 6MT G8x weighs 3670 lbs, where the hell did you get 3924 from?!?! The auto RWD G8x also only weighs 50-60 lbs more than the manual! And the AWD is about another 150 lbs on top of that. I've owned all three iterations in G82 form with CF buckets (and still currently own an xDrive G82) and NONE of them weighed remotely close to what you're claiming. Just in case you're thinking the M4 is much lighter than the M3, it only weighs 10 lbs less.

Mostly due to the manual transmission in the G80. It slows down the car quite a bit. (Not hating on the manual, just no human can shift as fast as a modern auto)

True, it will also Costco you 95 grand! I’ll stick with my 60k Supra, I’ll drop 8k worth of mods, strap a pure 800 turbo with a down pipe and tune and dust everyone including an G80 Xdrive M3.

I have a stock 2019 F82 Competition Package as my daily, I find it very hard to believe that the Supra is not Tuned. I accept that the B58 is quality, but I have raced many M140’s & Supra’s and have not had that same result. Its particularly estrange for the roll races - my F82 walks away when in boost and moving! But hey, perhaps US spec is differeing for the S55?
2021 and up Supras in the US have 388 whp, that’s about 440 crank HP, it weighs about 400 pounds less than your F82. I wouldn’t be shocked at all. Your F82 has 425 HP with a curb weight of about 3800 pounds.
This. In stock form the Supra makes less whp, less torque and has a lower power to weight. It shouldn’t be pulling from a roll unless Sam is short shifting. My F80 when tune only was walking DP + tune Supras
G80 was getting sideways in second; you can see it from the side angle. Not sure about the Supra but that F80 had a down pipe, exhaust and maybe a stage one tune. I’ve owned both so I’m speaking from experience. I’m any event, fun race but I’d I’d love to see this with a G80 comp w/auto added to the mix.
@@SamCarLegion Not even a mild stage 1 BM3 stage one tune? As a former owner of an F80 (BM3, Dinan Axle back exhaust) and current G80 Comp. I’m surprised (not but hurt) at the result. I know the G80 is at a disadvantage being a manual but it’s way up in power albeit heavier. Guess that’s the difference… G80 really did struggle through second… Anyway, do a Pt. 2 with a comp!
