Building or Maintaining Muscle couldn't be easier with my Full Body Strength Training Workouts ! Today, we have exercises that will hit the Front and Back of the Thighs, include the Back and Shoulders & we even have lots of Abdominal Moves. We will be doing a Step Up Exercise for one of the moves, so I will be using a Small Household Step for that one. I have also included modifications for the Floor Work presented. Yes!! Started out with three lb weights then 2 😂…..still felt great. Had to do the front cross overs up higher because I kept hitting my left hand with the weight….😆….much better!! Wow, we sure got those arms and shoulders worked on!!! Felt great though!! These combinations, and repeats seem to go by so fast!! Sweaty one too!! Thanks again Trish for this great workout!! Good morning Suzanne. Well done with yesterday's strength session 💪💪Not to worry if you have to drop your weight. Somedays I feel lethargic and I scale back a little to get through the workout. As long as we are moving that's what counts!! It was definitely an upper body burn especially for the shoulders!! I am so pleased that you are enjoying the workouts and the different combinations. Hi Trish, Happy Monday! Thank you for this great strength workout, I really enjoyed it. I used my 7, 8, & 10 lbs.! It felt great! I loved the stretches at the end. I hope you and your family had a wonderful weekend. Ours was pretty nice. We had no special plans. Unfortunately my daughter's back went out so I was helping with the kids a lot this weekend. Hopefully she can get to the doctors this week. Today and tomorrow are babysitting days again. I'll be sure to get my steps in, lol. Tuesday and Wednesday are supposed to be hot here, in the 90's, yuck, lol. All my best.🙋‍♀️💐🌻🌷🌺🌸🪷🥰

Happy Monday Lori. You are most welcome. Well done completing today's strength workout. I am delighted that you enjoyed the stretches at the end. It always feels good to stretch afterwards. I visited my mom yesterday. We went for a drive to a beach about 30 minutes away from her house. There were lovely scenic walks as well. The weather was really beautiful and warm over the weekend. It is a public holiday here today so I'm enjoying an extra day off. I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope that she will be ok. Back pain can be very debilitating. Enjoyed this work out, not as challenging as some of the others although the bicycle exercise did have been gritting my teeth a bit. Love the variety in all your workouts. Thank you Trish!

That was great Trish. I have discovered something. I've been terribly stiff and achy because I had a break from exercise. I'd feel stiff in the morning. I did 15 mins of yoga before bed. I felt totally different in the morning. No where near as stiff and achy. Couldn't believe the difference.

Thank you so much Zoe. Yes, I would really believe what you say! That saying 'if you rest, you rust' is so true! I feel very stiff if I sit for too long, never mind not exercising for a few days or weeks. I also always feel sluggish if I do not workout for a few days. Yoga and pilates are really great forms of exercise. We should practice these exercises daily. 🙋‍♀️🌺

Hi there. I am enjoying your workouts but I have two questions if you can help. One, I find I injure my lower back frequently when squat positions. What can I do to improve the pose? The second question is when you do side leg lifts, are you supposed to let the oppisite hip, from that one that is lifting, jutting out, or keep it stable? I have quite intense pain every day in the muscle (or tendon?) that connects the bottom of the spine to the hip. I think this is the psoas?

Hello Diane. Thank you for your questions. It is very important that we learn how to squat correctly in order to prevent pain or injuries with our lower back. For a lot of people they can have joint issues especially the ankle or hips which can prevent them from performing a squat correctly. I have a very tight right ankle which prevents me from getting deeper into a squat position so I elevate my heels onto some small weight plates when I am doing squatted exercises. This helps me out a great deal. It not only improves my range of motion around my ankle but it allows me to keep my torso upright which prevents my lower back from rounding. A common mistake that I see with people is that they bend excessively forward when squatting which causes the lower back to round. When you add weights this can make the problem worse. A lot of people will skip their cooldown and not do any stretches or mobility exercises to strengthen their core. A few very important moves to do regularly are: 'bird dog' side plank and any exercise that helps to open up the hips. I include all of these exercises in my cooldowns or during the strength workouts. You can look them up on RU-vid for your convenience. With regards to the side leg lift move we can lean ever so slightly to the side as this allows for range of motion for the leg lifting but it is important to brace our tummy muscles to stop us from falling over. You must keep the opposite hip/leg very still or stable to prevent too much movement around the joint. The psoas or the hip flexor is at the front of the body. It is the muscle that contracts when we raise our knee up to our bellybutton when standing. I'm not sure if this is the correct muscle that you described? If not let me know and I will try and tease it out with you. All the best. Trish 🥰💜

@@LivelyLadiesFitness Trish. Thank you for your toughtful responses. I have always suspected that my ankles were weak. I might play with elevating my ankle. Guilty as charged on skipping the cool downs. Ill do better! I was confused on the location of the psoas apparently. I have pain (and perhaps knots?) from the back of the lower spine to my hip, along the butt. Thanks again Trish. I am hitting another one of your workouts later today!

@dianechrestman6104 Hello Diane. I am glad that I could help you out. A lot of individuals have issues in and around the lower back into the buttocks area. It could be a condition known as piriformis syndrome. It is quite similar to sciatica therefore you would need a physiotherapist to confirm this for you. It is so important to work on our mobility and flexibility by spending time cooling down after our workouts and also sometime during the week as active recovery time from exercise.
