Kargan Intimidator can make your own creatures into Cowards, removing their other creature types, which makes them non-humans for Winota. This interaction came up a lot but was never mentioned or taken advantage of; it makes Winota even stronger since it means you can trigger her off of herself if you just untap with her and play an Intimidator.
Yep, I was just thinking about adding to the swathe of comments about another magic player not reading magic cards LOL. This interaction is so weird though. The usual phrasing wouldn't allow for such interaction... However, we are 2020 magic-ing, so I guess free creatures aren't really that power creepy nowadays.
You're right! I just blindly assumed it was "becomes a Coward in addition to existing types" but nope, it overwrites those types entirely. That could be useful against a variety of tribal decks!
I love how MTGGoldfish cuts all of the waiting out of his videos! It makes them sooo much more interesting/entertaining to watch. Thanks for the editing work, much appreciated!
Regarding "artifact destruction is bad in non-Clover matchups", I've had decent success with Shredded Sails as a sideboard card against both Clover and that stupid Rogue lord.
This is a super interesant example of how the land modo cards work. I was scared at first that was companion second coming. But they are prety balanced in practice. This deck want low count of lands because is agro a low mana cost, but hates the lands coming in to play taped so doesnt want to.have so many of this lands. I like this.
The lands are so bad. Only the spikefield is playable because it costs one mana. I would much rather flood sometimes than have bad mana literally every game.
Could you plz plz plz at the end of these "Budget" vids tell us what would some of the non-budget cards be that you would add if you didnt have think about being a budget deck.... ty. :)
I always have a non-budget list in the article on the website, but maybe I should start adding it to the video as well. www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/budget-magic-boros-warriors-standard
Hi Seth and RU-vid, I really want to play this deck but I am missing all 4 maul of the skyclave, and can't spend wildcards. Do you have any suggestions? I have 4 shadowspear and 4 Embercleave. I don't know, do think 3 and 3 is ok (maybe not since they're legendary)
I made a boros warriors deck. I run a bit more on the equipment theme, also run the 1 mana spell righteous something or other than gives +2+2 and lets you free equip something. That is a bonkers combat trick for pushing lethal damage through on a last swing, or shifting around equipment to deal with a pesky threat. I'm not a huge fan of embercleave in my testing, though. It's... hard to cast for less than 4 mana. Did not realize Legion Angel was a warrior, though. Might have to toss that in. I think the single biggest problem with Warriors is the lack one one drops. It has one. Which is an AMAZING card because you run such a fast clock that when you'd usually put people down low enough and then they'd stabilize and win against aggro, it basically check makes them by telling them if they block him and he dies with equipment, they lose. If they don't block him, they also lose. But it's your only opening creature. Not sure why you aren't running the 1R unblockable warrior. I wouldn't even waste a deck spot on Hakdos. I'm pretty sure MTGA's algorithm actually always makes him hit whatever number your opponent has out on the field. It happened to me four times in a row. The Warrior specific piece of equipment is spectacular. +1 to toughness is absurdly helpful. I also run more than 60 cards because it gives a nice, comfy cushion against mill. If it takes them two extra turns to mill me out, I've probably won.
now a days the off meta decks feel synergistic and powerful, and sometimes this makes me feel like standard is in a more healthy place than it really is, because I get the sense that the off meta decks being better than they used to be in the past is less of a result of the meta being deeper, but that the actual competitive meta is so small decks that would usually be the 5-10th best decks in the meta don't see any play. They printed 6-7 cards in one se t that basically said " please play boros equipment" and thats still not enough without an absolute pushed bomb. you can look at izzet tempo and see this phenomenon too.
12:55 why did you concede here? You can block one of the 4/4s if they go face leaving you at 4 and then you draw a 4/3 flying that gets you another 4/3 flying for next turn you tick up nehiri and equip with your equipment double blocking the sharks killing one repeat next turn and stabilize?
In the second game of the first match, I think Seth kind of forgot that he could use Nahiri to equip things with her +1 ability, which could have been useful. For example, he could have resolved the embercleave, and then used the +1 to make a Kor and equip it.
I actually played Warriors in an event this weekend and did surprisingly well. I have Winota in my sideboard but I’m playing Nahirir in the main deck. I’m also using Goma Fada Vanguard, which works perfectly and has won me a few games. Maul of the Skyclaves is just amazing, especially if you use Resolute Strike (if your equipped creature dies) to attach it to another creature for one mana.
Why not play the Adventure that kills artifacts? I dont think it's a warrior but it being a creature that can be equipped to makes it relevant even of there are no artifacts to kill
For match 5 game 2 I think I would have left up Mana for soul sear and hit Omnath while the card draw trigger is on the stack. The opponent hand all four colors needed to cast it. Pretty good bet they had Omnath in hand.
When Siege Rhino enters the battlefield, each opponent loses 3 life and you gain 3 life. When Omnath, Locus of Creation enters the battlefield, each opponent loses 4 life and you gain 4 life, add {R}{G}{W}{U} to your mana pool, AND draw a card.
I remember when Omnath was first spoiled and Seth and the others said in the podcast that it was not good outside of EDH, haha. It seems like they always underestimate the strongest card of each set (same happened with Oko, Uro and so).
Bro, I dont think anyone underestimated OKO....HAHAHAHAHHA. My LGS was split into the camp buying it up on Day 1 (because it was so good) to selling it all (because it was so good they felt it would get banned....lol)
I feel like the segments when mousing over the timecodes should be split into just Intro/Matches/Wrap up. Showing the match lengths seems pretty spoilery. Does anyone ever skip to match 2 for any reason?
So, historically speaking in these situations, Standard becomes two decks the “Big Bad Guy” and the killer of that deck. However, there really aren’t answers to Omnath. So now, we only have one deck in Standard. Between this and The Walking Dead opening the Pandora’s Box of selling powerful singles directly from the manufacturer bypassing packs, which hurts casual players TREMENDOUSLY, I am very concerned about the “health” of paper MtG.
u mean "casual" LEGACY & VINTAGE players? Casual EDH is not really affected, unless you are a player hankering after Angus Mckenzie too.... I am being fecetious but to focus that the fear is that they will do this for standard. The actual implementation right now is not ideal but does not actually hurt the "casual" crowd (or spikey crowd for that matter). The implication is that it is a portent to something more sinister. : )
Im a huge Winota fan, but this is not the deck for it. Minimal pay off on a 4 drop that could be doing so much more. Trying to do to many different things pulled away from each individual strategy
