The entourage is there to give their honest opinions which may differ from the bride's. Mom is correct to say that the 1st dress doesn't look like it's for a wedding, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. At least she's trying to hold it in - better than a few nasty mothers already.

Oh god, I can’t get past the whole “I made him do it again” with the proposal situation. I mean yes queen, set the bar high, have expectations, but for me personally that’s so embarrassing to announce publicly. I feel bad for him.

I really don't think the Mom was that bad. I'm more concerned about the bride publicly shaming her husband by saying she required a re-do of the proposal. 🙄

I suspect the only reason dad is still married to mom is because of his daughter, and not wanting to be away from her while she grew up. Living with mom would not be a picnic.

I went by myself to buy my dress and it was the best experience ever! I got to take my time and chose something I loved instead of something other people loved ❤

I feel like those brides who want that particular "moment" when the groom-to-be proposes has to be perfect in this or that way should ask themselves if the bride wants the proposal of a lifelong promise to be more about the moment it's brought to the table or HOW it's brought to the table. Ladies, ask yourself what's more important: the staged proposal designed to tell your friends and family (and social media) how much you're cherished by your partner) OR that your partner loves you so much that they want to be with you forever. My hubby proposed 33 yrs ago on the spur of the moment, under the full moon, no cameras, no social media, just us five minutes after it became our 10mth anniversary. He was walking me to my car, and suddenly dropped to one knee, and asked if I'd do him the honor of being his wife. It was so simple, so clean, so pure. There was no ring because he didn't plan it. I just feel like if it's truly love, the ring, the hoopla, the dress, the this and that, none of it matters. We've been married 33 yrs now. I've been with him since I was 17, and I've never regretted a moment of that time.

the mom is just like so many others. i spent a lifetime trying to please my mother. but i finally realized there was no pleasing her, ever. my mom wanted to be young again with all the boyfriends and dressing up! i decided i would please myself with my own $$ and never worried again about her opinion!

Of course the final decision is the bride's. But I do agree with the mom that the second dress looked the best on her daughter. The third that she picked was sometimes puckering around the waist area, and it gapped wide at the opening on the back.
