Oli's voice already sounds damaged and this was in 2011. If you watch live performances of BMTH of their older stuff in 2014/2015, Oli's voice is non existent because of all of the screaming he's done over the years. That's why BMTH had to change their sound. If they didn't, Oli's vocal chords would be completely damaged
That and Oli said he wanted to change the style and start singing, he said this after he got out of rehab and stuff so it's like more emotional and there's a bigger message that's really cool.
Why don't people get that it's both? He doesn't want to scream, and he can't do these false cord screams like he used too, at least for an extended period. If he still screamed every song his voice would be fucked in like a month. And tbh if Jordan didn't back him up, and they didn't lower the tunings, his voice would be dead by Doomed most likely. Sure, Oli had godly growls and highs back when they made this song, but I actually like his growls and some highs here (I know he missed some but whatever) His fry screams now are actually alright. Plus you could tell he was pissed with himself here when he couldn't brutally growl "and so does she."

This year was one of the worst year of his carreer but he's getting better ;) now he's clean, working on his vocal skills, i'm looking to his future accomplishments, not whining about the bad performances he once did like some of these A-holes down below. Much respect for Oli and i hope he will release another rocking album =) !

Just like Danny Worsnop, Oli couldn't stay away from the drugs and fucked up his voice. Danny's voice changed in a good way and I hope oli's does too because I really want BMTH to continue making music. I'm going to miss the old voices from both of them but it's better than no voice at all.
Every time when he sings ,,Close your eyes, pray for plagues", it sounds like he would die in the moment. He had hurt his voice so much through wrong screaming.:/
And plus, that song is one of the best of theirs and the scream is amazing. Like wtf do you expect it to be exactly the same? Theyre just as good live.

+David Garcia Take a look at their 2004 demo version of I Used To Make Out With Medusa. He was sixteen/seventeen then and he sounds amazing, 2011 Wembley doesn't compare.

no. this album as well as "this is what the edge of your seat was made for" like defined me as a person as a kid. you gotta remember this shit is old as hell. it may not be "in" any more but this was so fucking sick when it came out. they just shred and oli had THE NASTIEST vocals around. guitar work was insane.
The older stuff was awsome to. Most of the people are just not able to appreciate songs like tell slater not to wash his dick or fuck. To me all their albums where insanely awsome but it's just not everybody's kind of music.
2011 was 6 years ago. Nobody's standing with their phones out recording the whole gig but instead just enjoying the music like you should. Sad how much has changed since then....
Well what do you expect to happen when you have a very hectic tour schedule that requires you to sing with very challenging vocals day in and day out? Oli hasn't totally lost his voice. This video is old and Oli's high screams and growls are slowly coming back and are almost as good as the good old days.
