C3 Corvette Starter and Wiring 

Update: I decided to replace the entire Engine Harness and have a new one on the way. Thanks to everyone who chimed in with helpful info.!

Make sure you check the wire with the cloth cover.the factory ran a resistance wire to a ballast resistor to the coil.if you use an electronic ignition you will need to do away with that wire and run a wire to get 12 volts switched from your fuse block.

The purple wire is ignition start. Goes on the S post

I would replace the engine harness, becouse other wires could be just as bad that you are not aware of.

that wiring harness is long past saving. It will just hurt you in the future. "lectric Limited"

Power to the starter may be a fusable link. Don’t splice it out and lose this functionality.
