Thank you for all these videos! Having someone show every hand helps learning ranges and betting sizes so much faster than memorizing them. You’re absolutely killing it.

Hello, my brother. I'm always happy when I get a notification that you've released a new video, and as always, you have my full support! I just want to offer you a few friendly tips, without undermining your game or anything like that: Don't rely too much on GTO, especially post-flop. You need to bet more frequently regardless of the cards that come out on the flop because that's how you build pot and to other players, you'll appear much more serious. Otherwise, they quickly figure out that you're playing exclusively based on GTO tips. And most importantly of all, you need to play many more hands from in-position (button, cutoff). All in all, another great video, and I wish you much success moving forward.
@Pokerbabbo
@Pokerbabbo 4 месяца назад
Thanks for watching!! I actually don’t try to play GTO since players in live games don’t play close to optimal. I am working on my game right now to be more aggressive so after this 1-3 series I think there will be a decent difference in my game
@chartcracker3906
@chartcracker3906 4 месяца назад
Sorry but most of the postflop play is far from GTO, and unfortunately way too nitty. There are many hands where equity is simply not realized because of lack of aggression. Even GTO calls for more aggression than this. I've been watching several episodes now. I think the preflop play is ok for the most part. It just really breaks down postflop. There is no way you can maintain a high long term win rate if you always aim for showdown or wait to put serious money in until you have the nuts.

An addition to comment posted below. When you wish to bluff from early position, a check raise works best. Especially when the table sees you as a tight player. So semi bluff, with equity. Make them pay to 3 bet you, or bet heavily against you when you are out of position. And when you do have the goods, ofttimes they pay you off when they have a marginal hand.
@Pokerbabbo
@Pokerbabbo 4 месяца назад
💯 check raising definitely better for bluffs since it gets through more often

You’re playing way too tight and scared losing your chips. You need to be a little bit more aggressive with those good hand and continue telling the story. I love you vlogs and the set up, very details. I play tight as well but, I’m aggressive with good hands! I just started playing part time (2/5) and so far so good I played 5 days now. I’m 4 out of 5 winning session. Total hours is under 14 hours and I profit 5.3k. 3 of those day was just under 2 hours. I book a win if I’m way up. No need to risk some or all back. I’ll fight another day! Wish you luck with your journey. I will follow my friend.

First of all showing every hand and adding your narrative is out of this world. Secondly I am still thinking about some of the good hands with K as kicker or Q or J which I would’ve played. However, very fifth hand you played suited AK and letting it go is nicely done as well. I am learning a great deal about your analogy about studying other poker players. You are a TAG and I really like it. Thank you.

At 1/3 you have to bluff more on the turn. I find betting pot on the turn when it gets checked to me is making money. Overfold on the river to overbets and overbluff to checks. This has made me a good hourly rate.

"Can I make a living playing 1/3?" You're playing for five hours. People who manage to do this for a living are putting in double that, and doing it 5, 6, even 7 days a week. Assuming you really are a winning player, that's probably the first thing you should fix. Doesn't help that you're getting tilted over being down a single buy-in. Still, respect, for showing the dud sessions, and not just the highlight reels like most poker vloggers.
@Pokerbabbo

no sorry bro people who play for a living are not playing a 1/3 $300 cap game for 40-50 hours a week ...that would be pointless....true full time grinders are playing at least 5/5 - $1000 cap or 5/10- $1500 cap and playing 25-30 hours a week for an hourly of $40-$60ph....optimal play in a 1/3 capped raked game would net you $15 to $18 ph.....so what's the point ? anyone saying they are playing for a living at 1/3 is living in their mothers basement or living off ther wife's paycheck like this c l o w n

Finally, I caught up on all your videos. Really digging the showing every hand so I hope you keep that up. I do have a few questions: 1- What is the sheet of paper you give to the dealer every so often? 2- the 1/3 game I play often has button straddles going. I was curious what your strategy is for this. When I play, I tend to be very tight from the blinds (tighter than UTG in normal conditions without a straddle), looser from UTG-CO compared to their normal conditions. The button likely should defend at a high rate imo but I'm curious what you like to do. Tough session, but hang in there! Keep up the great content.
@Pokerbabbo
@Pokerbabbo 4 месяца назад
Thanks for watching man!! The sheet is a promotion they have. When you get AA full houses or better hands you get tickets to a raffle they do on Wednesdays. When there’s a BTN straddle I just raise a bigger size, usually 4x the straddle and tighten my range

The biggest things I noticed are to bet at 27:30 with JJ and a board of 3579. Giving opponents a free card is dangerous. And then calling with 84s on the last hand, which you already know.
@luckylibra1137

Your play seems a little too risk averse in this session. You had tons of equity to check raise the turn on that flush draw board multi way. My advice is to pick your spots to ramp up the your aggression.

Quick question for you. How do you remember the action of all the hands if you're only recording a specific angle of the table (hard to see the 2 or 3 players left of the dealer) / if you are only recording the hole cards? I want to be able to record my hands and study off the table. thanks!

Good video. Rough day for sure. I do think you make one comment that I hear a lot but isn’t valid at 1/3. There are four people in the pot so a bet then a next to act is a strong call. Very few players at this level play this way. The would call the same hands heads up and with a family pot.

hey , i came across your vlog and wanted to put in my 2 cents. about your AQo hand and im from tex.first the 12 open i think is ok . most games here in tex with tht hand would go 15 or more. anyways when you get only 1 caller in the CO. when you have an A high board and then you lead for $15. before you bet out did you think about what hands he could have called you with? because now he is min clicking you to $30.if he is implementing a limit Strat to get to showdown cheaply. what hands would he be doing tht with? AK, 2 pair? or is it lesser pairs like 8x. 99 you can rule out AK as he would have 3 bet pre. so this min click does not make sense so in order to figure it out i would have at least min clicked it back to him if he just calls, he has something on this board, so you have narrowed his range down a ton. like 1/2 you're giving him way too much credit for a better hand than you have. if he did have one he would have played it differently. you have to make them show you they know how to play not giving them credit for something they have not earned yet. but anyways as played i would have 3 bet it 100%. ok the turn is x/x which is fine dont see a problem really . river is weird your right. his line makes no sense. raise flop check turn raise river. again your giving him credit for something he has not shown you yet . and tht is how to play. the line makes no sense. IMO you make a crying call yes the flush got there. but sets and 2 pair hands would play the same way so you can rule them out he is not going to have many 2s in his range. and all Ax hands would maybe play thisd way but not AK so you can rule them out. you have a sound gto foundation it sounds like. however dont think poeple at 1/3 know gto or have a good foundation at all in low stakes.they are there to have fun to think they are better than they actually are in their current life. they will only know gto in low stakes if they were computers or someone who studies like you do. i know your trying to make a living at this and i congratuate you on going for it.i too went for it here in tex and was up for the year last year till life got in the way and took my bankroll to pay for it. now im literally crawling my way back to full time play so i can get rid of my 9to5.
@Pokerbabbo
@Pokerbabbo 4 месяца назад
Hey man!! What’s for watching, wish you some good run to get back in to playing poker full time. I agree 💯 players don’t play GTO in live games so I don’t try to do it either honestly. Min raises IP in my experience are a lot of top pairs bad or medium strength hands that are trying to see where they are at. 3betting I think we just end up a lot getting worse to fold and better to call

A couple of comments. This is the 8th video of yours I've watched. From my perspective, you are slightly too passive and predictable. ABC poker. Playing position predictably. Folding at least 3 hands in early and mid position I would have played. Even in $1-$2 or $1-$3, players need to know that there are a few bluffs and/or weaker than optimal starting hands in your early and mid range opening. I would have played a few of those suited kings. Second, if I was the masked villain, I would 3 bet you in particular relentlessly. Your strategy is too obvious. Otherwise, nice to watch a TAG (tight aggressive) reasoning. Your strategy long term is a winner. Just too ABC poker to maximize profitably. If you aren't getting called on your bluffs, show one every once in a while. Maybe once per game. I look as a bluff I bet and was called as advertising for future poker sessions.

@iGioneo4
@iGioneo4 4 месяца назад
I agree. I think he’s too scared of high variance that he is very risk averse. Which is understandable given his position, but he’s losing out on hourly. Needs to find more creative bluffs, I think he’d be surprised how many bluffs get through given his image. Just need to experiment and see what works, may have a decent amount of bluffs get caught but that only means he’s set up to get paid off easier later
@Pokerbabbo
@Pokerbabbo 4 месяца назад
I agree on working on being more aggressive, I’m actually doing a bootcamp that is working a lot on that. I don’t think widening my range is the way to go though honestly, I think my range is already wide enough. Tight aggressive is usually the most profitable play

Hey, I've watched your "can I make a living" series and the prior post as well. Appreciate the content, but am left with lots of questions. Mainly, "how CAN you make a living @ 1-3?" I play +ROI 1-3 at Lake Elsinore and Ocean's 11, so I know these games. Even 8-10 bb/hr. is questionable given the ~100 bb cap in these So. Cal. games and the min. buy-in players that inevitably sit down. A mortgage or rent in San Diego area...a newborn to feed and prepare for college...taxing your income (I presume). Free buffet or not, I just don't see it. Maybe this was the planned reveal of this series all along--no, you can't play 1-3 for a living, so go get a job you dirty hippie! Guess I'll wait for the next episode to find out. And please know that I come at this earnestly. I'm in a position to semi-retire soon and am attracted to the idea of playing poker for my supplemental income. My conclusions thus far are that the So. Cal market ain't it, both for cost of living and limited upside (compared to Texas for example). Finally, maybe barrel the turn on the AKdd hand when the bottom card pairs. Even if he has the exact hand he claimed, you have a lot of equity and it puts him to a tough decision.
@Pokerbabbo
@Pokerbabbo 4 месяца назад
Hey!! I had the thought when I heard some players tell me what they make playing 1-3. I’m not only referring to myself since my expenses are way higher than plenty of other people with my family. I’ll dive in to it all after the next vlog 💪 With the AKdd I don’t think I have any fold equity in that spot with how little he had behind so I’d prefer to just check to see if I hit and go for value the times that I do and save money when I miss

You're too tight and passive mate. You also let your emotions dictate a call on a 4 liner board based on previous interactions instead of the cards. GL in the future.

He CLEARLY hits flush with AQos hand.. Oh he shows lol Yeh OBVIOUSLY. You knew that the min click is often the flush draw raise to get to river cheap. But he hit, so he checks and you fall for it??? For what it's worth I think you generally play quite well and show discipline. I disagree with other commenter that critiques your ABC play. I think in 1/3 ABC is correct vs most opponents 👍🏻

I’ve got to disagree I don’t think it was a spot that it’s obvious it’s a flush. People min raise IP a lot with a medium strength hand that is trying to see where they’re at and getting cheap to a river. Specially after checking back the turn. I think most of the time when they hit the flush they will keep on betting for value when IP. Thanks for watching! 🙏🙏

@@Pokerbabbo I think opposite. Ppl rarely min raise if THEYRE scared of the flush. Likewise on turn if they hit a small flush, they'll often check to see a safe river (if they're OOP) because it's so easy for Hero to rep the higher flush if the 4th suit comes. When it doesn't they bet safely, as example, for value. IMO YOUR check was much clearer showing you didn't have a flush on turn...

7:22. why call a raise on flop?? If you're: 1) ahead: you're giving him a free turn card!? And power in the hand. 2) behind: you're giving him a money for free??? You have no draw in here to potentially improve (A or Q are not your outs) Calling is OUT-OF-Question! So: what's the option?? Fold and never look back. Or rip it off if you can read he being full of it! Slap his min click raise right into his face, and then watch how he takes it. (For this one, you need a good hand read).

I disagree, very strong words that something is out of the question. Just because he may be doing it with hands that are worse still doesn’t mean we should 3bet since they’re all folding and we end up leaving him with mostly hands we’re losing against and some draws

@Pokerbabbo fair enough. However....Case 1, if he: A, has nothing, no draw, he is not going to pay you anything, anyway. B, has a drawing hand, he'll call your 3bet. And then, just sit back and watch the Power of no pot odds does its job!
