I think this is a very underrated aspect to bev pickup truck's. The ct will come standard with a 240v outlet. And with things like solar bed covers? You could power your travel trailer, or tiny home. And with the sun shining not even use much if any of the tow vehicle's range. 🤔

No sane person is fully charging an EV like this, but charging about 1 mile every 2 minutes means you get 8 miles on 15 minutes. Usually that is plenty to get to a charging station. 15 minutes is a nominal stop for a tow truck. This is a game changer for EVs and tow companies.

You won’t need “superduty” anymore with the F-150EV. You get the power of the power stroke, probably even more torque, but get the efficiency of a small econobox car. We have a Model Y for my wife and extrapolating the 18kwh to 75 we just need x4 what you presented. What is so appealing about this truck is also thinking about the odd thunderstom that knocks out the lights for a couple days around here. That bit of minimal electricity is excellent. Might want to have a look at Ford’s debt burden, and the implication that has on its free cash flow, which in turn has further implications on its operations and how it is viewed by investors. Ford has over $150 billion of total debt on its balance sheet. The market capitalization you’re quoting of $36 billion is a net number; the implied gross asset value of Ford would be $186 billion ($150 + $36). Tesla on the other hand has a much lower debt level; Tesla has a bit over $10 billion in debt, which gives an implied gross asset value of $550 billion ($540 + $10). So if you assess the companies based on assets, which is a more meaningful comparison, Tesla is being valued at roughly three times the level of Ford. Comparing just market capitalization without accounting for debt is misleading. If you account for the massive drag such a high debt burden has on growth potential then it starts to make a lot more sense. Ford’s ANNUAL interest expense is over $10 billion! Ford pays more on interest in just ONE YEAR on its debt than Tesla owes on its ENTIRE debt obligations. Instead of investing money into research and development and over value generating activities, Ford is forced to service huge interest payments. This issue isn’t just limited to Ford.
@tb1951

@@stefanleonte3155 good stuff. Thanks for breaking that down a bit more. So how overvalued do you think tesla is right now?
@stefanleonte3155
@stefanleonte3155 3 года назад
@@tb1951 Valuations are a super tricky area! Strictly speaking, the valuation of a company is the value today of all of it's future profits. There are so many assumptions that go into a valuation that they're really just a probability weighted best guess, which is picked from a high-low range. Market capitalization valuations for listed companies end up being bets today between buyers and sellers based on what they think will actually happen in the future, and whether a company will be able to execute on its plans (or not). Tesla is a very interesting situation. On the face of it, it's easy to compare Tesla to other car companies because, well, it makes cars. However, it's more nuanced than that, which is why Tesla (at the moment) offer the potential for significant returns in the future; there are several significant business lines, such as insurance, that existing manufacturers simply can't compete with. In my opinion, Tesla has some absurd upside potential in terms of its products and services over time, however, equally, it's entirely possible that this potential is never fully realized. In short, I think their valuation reflects a belief that they will continue transforming mobility and energy in a big way. Just my opinion.

The Ford F150 used for charging....is the inverter a modified sine wave or pure sine wave unit? I have found some devices DO NOT like modified sine wave!
@jeffs2809
@jeffs2809 3 года назад
@@steak8278 I would "assume" it's pure sine wave but I haven't seen anything in the marketing brochures that say one way or the other. I will say that there are MANY inverters out there that are only modified sine wave. If an inverter or inverter generator doesn't specifically state "pure sine wave" I would assume it's modified.

The energy content of that gas is over 100 kWh. Most of it is just wasted, even when it moves the truck. Goes to show how incredibly inefficient gas engines are.
@kwan3560
@kwan3560 3 года назад
This has nothing to do with efficiency, it's all about convenience. Like, why hosed someone wait 40mins at a charging station to charge up their car when it only takes 5 mins to full up a gas tank.
@gregoryfaulkner5345
@gregoryfaulkner5345 3 года назад
Never mind energy efficiency. What is the financial efficiency of a gas vehicle versus electric? I just bought a brand-new gas car that has 400 mile range; average driver of this car achieves 45 mpg; and it cost me $11,820 before taxes; didn't have to build a garage and install a charging station. The small electric cars are about the same size and utility; have less range; have a shrinking fuel tank over time, and cost almost three times as much before adding the garage and charging station. I'm all for electrics, but they've got to get where they can compete where it counts. Not to mention, the fuel cost is much higher, which off sets the efficiency advantage by a quarter.

I think the main thing to take away from this, is you can rescue stranded EV's that have ran out of range and give them enough to reach a charging station...

The question is, would you ask them to pay for the gas you burn to charge their battery? Keep in mind that they probably despise you for driving a truck powered by icky hydrocarbons in the first place.
@morilot
@morilot 3 года назад
I would say that the main take away is that you can max out the system for a long time and it works fine. So if needed you can power basically any tools, welder and what nots up to 7,2kW. That is alot.

@@luisbarraza9709 You could carry a 5kW Honda generator and 5 gallons of gasoline. That would double your range, if you didn't mind waiting for hours beside the road to charge your battery. Or better yet, run the generator while you drive your car, and plug it into your charging port. Charge while your drive!
