you never forget the first time you hear those three words: “I love you” those four words: “will you marry me?” and those five words: “hey everyone how’s it going?”
It's a good thing that it wasn't an 8 month hiatus again! It was amazing feeling to see jrose once again emerge and release the magikarp challenge video
It's not THAT bad (still pretty bad, but not Struggle Abra-levels of bad). Seismic Toss counts as a physical move after all. Of course, if he also forbids Seismic Toss (and Mimic), that's going to be a different story. But at least it will lead to a funny moment where Agatha is by far the easiest Elite Four member since he'll be forced to lift that restriction against her (Chansey's only non-Special winnable moves in that battle are Seismic Toss and Mimic).
Evolve a Happiny that has 1 HP left into a Chansey. It suddenly has half its HP left because of the insane HP base stat jump between those two, it's exhilarating to see.
Agatha's Haunter pretty much rigged the lottery. Hit Hypnosis on both chances Chansey had to move and when she was asleep it used a damaging move EVERY SINGLE TURN.
@@alexisthetransgenderduelis4211 Chansey can learn a few fighting moves by TM--submission, counter, and seismic toss. Ghosts might be a problem, but I think seismic toss damages ghosts in gen I. Bide and mimic are other possibilities. It might not actually be that hard except that JRose will also be trying to stay under-leveled throughout.
@@michaelbricker1129 I dont have twitter either bro but i I keep up without an account. it's my own theory, but jrose is loading up. he's gonna make a huge comeback posting consistently for a while. he's going to edit his twitch videos and others he's done on his own. he'll be back at his best. he's a great guy, ppl hating are not true fans. as for verification on how how about "things have not been good " u will find that on his Twitter, yt community msgs and on stream. I'm same as u, I miss the consistent rby series, I think I've watched all his videos 5 times each.
Eh, it's closer to losing to King Hippo Theoretically it can still happen but if you know what you're doing and aren't astronomically unlucky it's not going to happen
@@JustaGuy_Gaming Huh, my first thought, even though I'm fully aware of Focus energy (Normal type btw) was Machamp's G-Max move. It raises critical hit chance by one, which makes it worse than usual fighting Max move.
I thought we were talking about gen 1 here.. Alot of fighting pokemon had focus energy or learned it by level up I know it's a normal move I just figured that's the move he was talking about.. it's the only move I know of in gen 1 that was supposed to increase your chances of a critical hit but actually didnt help at all..
To be fair the reason for the early rock gyms is probably to counter the tons of normal and flying types you get in the early game, as well as the rock types.
@@boianko I think it's more that it was now or never. All the rock types they could use in gen 1 were physical tanks with weak special; if they wanted a rock gym leader at all it had to be before 2/3rds of your team were special attackers.
I can't wait for venonat, and other bug types like pinsir, some of my favourite mons, so its nice to see them try and do the impossible. also nice to have you back!
I did a Venonat run... Brock is PAIN since you just, don't learn moves for a while, but the rest ain't so bad unless you roll one with extra terrible speed :')
@@lightsen Yup! I've actually been doing runs just in my own free time through the Dex since series like this one seemed fun to play and I haven't encountered a non-winnable mon yet other than Caterpie/Metapod and Weedle/Kakuna. In Venonat's case access to Psychic and Mega Drain super helps ^^
Can I just quickly mention this guy's dedication to the whole thing? He's actually managed to edit the gameboy colour for each game, making them match the Pokemon he's using, and it's amazing.
I love the fact people used Chansey's base 5 Attack to sweep in Gen 2, because it learned Curse and if it managed to set up there was very little it could be done since it had Softboiled and Heal Bell.
@@thomaswood8405 , I'm just going by what Bulbapedia and the guy who hands you the TM in Celadon say. Bulbapedia lists Soft-Boiled as the signature move of Chansey's line, as well as mentioning on the TM41 page that in Gen I, it was designed for Chansey. I may be misremembering the guy across the Surf pond in Celadon, but he said to teach Softboiled to Chansey. Again, just going off of what I looked up/remembered. Sorry.
@@StrangerForever85 You're right that Bulbapedia lists softboiled as Chansey's signature move, but even by Bulbapedia's own definition it's not. "A signature move (Japanese: 専用技 exclusive move) is a move that can normally only be learned by a single Pokémon, evolutionary family, or Legendary group within a given generation." As a TM it's learnable by Mew, making it not Chansey exclusive. Chansey doesn't even naturally learn softboiled in gen 1, so that can't be used that as a criteria either. Bulbapedia does list it as a gen 2 and 4+ signature move, but not 1 and 3, but retroactively becoming a signature move feels....off to me.
don't forget Gen 1's famously stupid AI and the badge boost glitch! Nah but seriously it's like "Can I beat Gen 4 with just a Garchomp?" I mean, yeah dude, if you're conscious and know where the attack button is.
@@stoopdelano4085 Gen 1 has this thing called the Badge Boost Glitch where whenever one of your stats is modified, whether it's increased or decreased, your other stats get boosted by 1/8. So if you get your attack lowered, which doesn't matter at all for Chansey, all it's other stats go up. Yeah, gen 1 was weird like that.
This video has the most gripping music selection I've heard in a while, and it makes the elite four battles and especially Agatha seem really tense and triumphant. I like these videos, they teach me more about the Gen 1 games and pokemon than I thought possible. Well done
The song you referenced when you mentioned "getting ground out by a Marowak" is "What Kind of Pokemon Are You?" from the Pokemon 2.B.A. Master Album. The nostalgia. :D
Jrose I love your videos dude. Your knowledge of Pokemon is so cool to watch. You know all the type advantages and stat calculations it's just a beautiful thing to watch. Keep the videos up dude I really hope your able to make a living doing these videos. Enough to pay the bills and have a nice quality of life. Your in my top 3 RU-vidrs of them all list. Love this stuff. Chansey is one of my favorite Pokemon for that amazing special and HP. So much fun to watch these videos on my free time lol I can't say it enough I love this channel
Commenting before I watch. Thank you for the late night upload! I work overnights (security, so I can get away with this in the background) and nights get very boring. Thank you for making the rest of this shift bearable
@@shellnut8224 I don't know about that, you would have to either give up precious coverage or the badge boost glitch, it's not really that broken when Chansey is your only Pokémon
@@NymphieJP And to be frank, Snorlax might be even better, even though it is much slower, it has sky high attack and HP, 65 defense and special. Not to mention that it starts out with Headbutt. A 100% accurate base 70 move that can flinch the opponent. Well, I actually beat Jrose's Tauros run with Snorlax, at 3 hours and 52 minutes
I must say that after watching several other youtubers do challange runs, I really appreciate that you don't save between E4 members. Everytime I see a save after any of them I immediately think of you. Good video as always, great to have you back.
welcome back!! I didn’t realize how much I missed your videos till this popped up in my notifications! fell asleep last night listening to some of your older ones ;v;
Cecille Wolters the trainer name is LUCKY, and Chansey's Japanese name in Romanji is Lucky (ラッキー Rukii - or RatuKii, the smaller character means the T is silent and the u from Tu replaces the a in Ra)
@@velvetbutterfly hope you dont mind me nitpicking for a bit, but ラッキー when typed out is not Rukii, but rather “Rakkii”. Japanese Katakana writing is based on how a word sound and then transposed to the Japanese speaking system. So even though the word in English is “Lucky”, phonetically speaking the U in “Lucky” makes an “a” sound, whcih is why the Japanese uses ラ (ra) instead of ル (Ru) キ is Ki. The small ッ character means that the next consonant is repeated, and the ー character means that the previous vowel is elongated. So in the end ラッキー would be spelt out as Rakkii
@@velvetbutterfly Wow, thank you! :D I thought the original comment meant the Rival's name, my bad ^^' This is still awesome to know tho, better then expected tbh :3
FDeeKay I'm still new to the language but the lesson I took explain that the vowel sound gets replaced. Like how Occha is spelled おちゃ (O Chi ya). The fact that the character is smaller conveys this
>I don't know when the next video will be, but it will be prior to 2 months, I promise you that. It's been 2 months and 3 days, Jrose, and yet this is still your newest video. Have you abandoned your youtube channel for Twitch?
Wow this was such an amazing video to come back to. Thank you so much for your content I have watched every single video now. Thoroughly happy as a subscriber. Thank you
"Don't know when the next video will be, but it will be prior to 2 months. I promise that." 4 days left to keep that promise . Until then we steadily wait.😂
@@skygazer6082 oh no. I totally get it. We have no idea what may be going off in his personal life. He owes no explanation, but here's to hoping everything works itself out and new videos being uploaded at the pace they once were.
