I know it was stated that Mola Ram was intended for Wave 2, but he got yanked (probably some Disney thing because the Temple of Doom Lego set got yanked too). I hope they can try to release him as a PulseCon exclusive or something, it's so incomplete without him and Willie. Knowing that there's a finite set of a collectible definitely does make it more appealing, especially when its not very large. I've found myself attracted to older, completed figure lines from time to time for that very reason.
If Hasbro and Disney had behave properly they could have made action figures based onThe Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, and the numerous comic books that have been published over the years. As long as they put in the effort to make them look good and be able to be used as action figures then they could have enjoyed a nice revenue stream for years. They might have been able to expand the Indiana Jones franchise if they have been able to develop a new fan base through the action figures. But....Hasbro and Disney obviously have other ideas, and most likely vefarious ideas to boot.
I get it, collecting a dead line. I only started collecting the Retro 375 Marvel Legends once the line ended...but also lured in by finding them on clearance and in Canadian dollar stores ($5-$10 is much more fitting a price than $15-$20+)
I unfortunately didn’t think the 6” line would work. The high price of figures currently, the multiple figures in suits, the minimal valuable variations between the main character- it didn’t seem prepped to survive multiple waves. Then, the movie flops and the line was destined to fail.
There were a number of mistakes made with this line. Above and beyond the constant delays with and seeming fan disinterest for Dial of Destiny. Wave One had way way too many Indy’s. While there are some obsessive compulsive perfectionists who want exact versions of Indy from every scene with the smallest details of each perfect. Most of us just want one good representative Indy. We don’t care about open shirt Indy vs closed shirt Indy vs other minutiae. We want 1 Indy. Hat, Jacket, Bullwhip, Bag, and some artifact. Be it the gold idol, the Cross of Coronado, the Grail, one of the Stones, whatever. They needed to Limit Leather Jacket and Hat Indy to one variant per wave. And only 1 other Indy. Be it Tuxedo, Professor, Cairo Robes, German Uniform. Just 1 and 1. Toy makers pay attention for future toy lines! Hasbro you’re usually bright enough to limit the Luke Skywalker or Han Solo variants available at one time (although god knows why my GameStop has 3 versions of Greef Karga). But Indy will never be evergreen, because it is somewhat limited in cast and scope. Jurassic Park/World is basically Indiana Jones with Dinosaurs. But it’s the Dinosaurs that make it evergreen. Indy lacks that.
The multiple version s of Indiana Jones were ok. We could have numerous Indiana Jones specific displays and dioramas or we could spread the action figures out among many other displays and diorams. Many people here collect numerous action figure lines. The Indiana Jones characters could be spread out and used as civilian type characters in dioramas and dispalys of super heroes and villains battling with innocent civilians being caught in the crossfire. The WINDOWLESS boxes really killed the line. Hasbro's earlier problems with the D&D cartoon characters, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, and GI Joe Classified lines scared people away. Why bother collecting things people can't see and will most likely break in their hands? Hasbro can salvage the situation by re-releasing everything in proper window boxes with an assurance of high quality plastic at the price of $19.99 each.
The allure of being able to collect the "complete" line is definitely there. Personally I'm happy with my one and only one 6 inch Indiana figure, but I might pick up more when these inevitably hit Ollie's down the road.
The 2008 Hasbro stuff was awesome (IMO) I got pretty much everything and they had a great line. Not enough Temple of Doom stuff (the usual situation 😅)
But...isn't this premature? DID they cancel the line? I don't recall ever seeing or hearing that. Yeah, admittedly, things aren't looking great for potentially more, but I don't recall it being officially confirmed to be cancelled.
The extra tooling involved would not have been a problem if Hasbro and Disney had behaved properly. They could have created comic books with the same or new characters that looked the same. Then they could re-use the same mold for multiple version of the character or appearance and it would have been based on movies, TV shows, comic books, or video games. Hasbro and Disney aren't thinking about this carefully which is shocking considering those companies might have pioneered such ideas to get as mush re-use as possible.
Have you seen the S.H figurearts Indiana Jones Raiders of the lost Ark. It's pretty fantastic. It more expensive but it has plenty of accessories and you take off the jacket by switching out the arms. It also has three face plates that you can switch out.
For the six line we need Mora Ram. Both Willies. Beginning and sacrifice. Thugee guards. Dallas for the TLC would be great Marion in white dress sword guy in black. And even Vogal would be cool
i dont really understand tho.....it seems like the line is doing well regardless of dial of destiny not making the 2 billion they stupidly thought it would. they have to know mola ram and young last crusade indy would sell. i can understand not wanting to get crazy with marcus brody figures but those 2 plus the willie scott you said from temple as an abbreviated line would make me feel pretty content. crystal skull would be cool but i honestly don't think that's happening. we would've gotten something from that movie by now.
It’s disgusting how Hasbro treated the line from the get go. Half of the line itself are Indy figures, only two characters from the second movie and no characters from the forth. I wish they would let the line go to someone else if they don’t plan on doing any other figures. Maybe Neca would pick it up. Besides Star Wars, I believe this franchise and Ghostbusters are really the only two major lines left they haven’t tackled from the 80’s. I know they did some Ghostbusters figures but none of the main 4 characters were made by them.
I did suggest to Hasbro when I interviewed them that a 3 pack of Pat Roach characters should be done. Nepal thug, mechanic and thugee guard (or German guy on the airship) would be fantastic. Is the line ending?
I didn't collect the new 3 3/4" vintage looking line of action figures because I knew they wouldn't make all the main characters and thus a collection would be incomplete. Only Indy and Shortround for the ToD wave? Come on Hasbro. No wave for TLC? Whatever. I'll save my money and buy the original Kenner action figures and playsets.
Hasbro's problem with the WINOWLESS boxes and low quality plastic as seen in the D&D cartoon characters action figures, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, GI Joe Classified action figures, and others have all scared away potential customers. Customers are human beings and sometimes human beings are smart and they will stay away from things that are known to be bad quality.
The giant thugee guard can be a retool of the German mechanic. They are played by the same actor Pat Roach. He is even seen in TLC where we see Vogal and officer by the luggage for the blimp. His scenes were cut

For crystal skull, I’d like a Spalko, Mutt, the big Russian soldier, an Oxley and Marion, Mack, and a standard Russian soldier so Indy can fight an army of some kind. I understand why they might not want to make too many nazi figures but the Russians are fair game as I think the Thugee are also.
Where did we learn that the line was pretty much dead? Where did someone from Hasbro say that the line was ending? I’ve seen speculation it’s ending because they didn’t show new figures at Comic Con just days after they announced wave 3? Are we just guessing there’s no more, or did someone actually say it?

Man I wish it kept going and yeah the fact that the future is looking bleak makes me want a lot more of them then I would if it kept going like the cario Indy and temple escape Indy I was gonna pass on both, but then I saw how nothing new is coming out and decided to get them both knowing this is my only chance to lol
Last Crusade is great if you like unoriginal rehashed movies. It's the point where Indiana Jones became the usual cookie cutter sequel. They got backlash for doing something different with TOD and decided to play it safe by copying Raiders. Crystal Skull then copied Last Crusade by reusing the father son dynamic. They get worse with every film.
I just got Indy raiders and Elsa last crusade it was difficult to find, a remote comic shop.... Hasbro just does nt know how to milk the army building cash cow, it s like this in every line, SW no storm troopers, Joes no Cobra troops, legends no Hydra, Aim, Shields, no Leader creatures, and Indy no German troops, of Indian thugs... they lose tons of money, and we get caught with small scenes for most of us. I d still want to get Brody and white Belloq, the raiders ss, perhaps Donovan but... I d get Mutt hopefully with the bike, and the ss officer guy. I only collect 3 lines, joes, legends and indy, I like to mix them, put them as a scene on a lighted glass shelf with plants, it looks good. scene 1 indy with a grenade launcher, hawk with the false grail in the left, and his gun in the right, elsa with a shotgun left hand in her hair, backed by nunchuk and grunt on sides. scene 2 retro ironman vs firefly and scrap iron scene 3 punisher and cap america vs cobra commander, baroness, 2 officers, 1 pythonised bat I don t like 'crowded' shelves, or the flee market stand apartment look, my place is small I want to keep it around 50, I have 42 good show bro
Another one bites the dust and it’s a shame. I think the hype and goodwill for the brand was stronger going into “Crystal Skull”than it was for “Dial”. This line is too little too late. My ignorance is speaking here but what is the tooling cost for figures like these?Is this done in the US or at the manufacturer overseas? I only saw empty pegs at the stores in my home market when looking for these figures so I don’t know; maybe I missed my window.
Hasbro killed the 6" line with: WINDOWLESS boxes high prices poor distribution serious question about the quality of the action figures. Hasbro hid ugly action figures in WINDOWLESS boxes and used cheap low quality plastic for the action figures that couldn't stand up to being used as action figures.
I think the definition of flop needs to be reevaluated in today’s market. A lot of people are inclined to wait till a movie (even if it’s a movie they really want to watch) hits a streaming service. The theater I’m sorry to say is slowly on it’s way out. much like the drive in before it. Just my personal opinion.
That's a good point. However, the "boring dudes in suit" (not specifically your words) are useful in displays and dioramas as civilian characters or in specific Indian Jones displays and dioramas. Making displays and dioramas is about the most "playing" some adults do with the action figures. But, Hasbro's known quality problems with action figures breaking in people's hands like the D&D cartoon characters, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, and GI Joe Classified lines have scared people away from any Hasbro products that are hidden in WINDOWLESS boxes. Hasbro can slavage the situation by re-releasing everything in proper window boxes with an assurance of high quality plastic and a reasonable price of $19.99 each.
@@hammertronactionfigures2426 Yeah, but no. Just like Ghostbusters before them, you could put these Indy figures in open window boxes and charge only $20 and they would still have trouble selling at mass retail.
You lost me when you said that you like Doom and Crusade better than Raiders , your option cant be trusted.. anything you say from that point forward is a waste of my time.. I am out .. .
