Today we're going to be shooting some car doors to see what kind of damage will happen with a few different types of projectiles to see how they will fly and what kind of damage they will do! We've got bouncy balls, marbles, 3D printed pellets, and the more traditional grape shot and cannonballs. Will the bouncy balls bounce? Will a marble go through a car door? Let's find out! We're also accidentally answering the question "Can you shoot a cannon in the rain?" You'll see some of the concerns and issues with shooting a cannon under what would be battlefield conditions during the rain.
If you have any ideas about things you'd like to see us shoot with the cannon or shoot out of the cannon leave them in a comment below and we will try to get those out for you guys!

What was your favorite shot? What do you want to see us shoot next?

The grapeshot was great and hit that car door with some authority, but the wad design is even greater since it could allow you to shoot anything that you want out of that mass accelerator.

@@victormartin2774 Oh yeah! And we've got some good ideas for stuff to put in there too.

Alright. Now show us the result of Vardens Bodyshop fixing the door!

Experiment with sand bags, how much sand required to stop different size projectiles. Keep up the good work.

Love it! I’ve gotten that suggestion before too so I think that’s going to be a future one for sure.

I have a suggestion for what to shoot next: How about a wooden wall (made of plywood, logs, e.t.c.) to see the splintering of the wood after the cannonball’s impact? I think it would be totally cool to see that! Also, thank you showing what a cannonball vs a car door looks like 👍

I love it! I'll add that to the list. Thanks for tuning in

I like the fact that you made a point to show that you can in fact still shoot in the rain. You can see that lighting the fuse was more difficult but I was curious whether you’ve ever had any issues with the powder load itself with moisture.

Thank you! We almost stopped but then figured someone has wonder if you can shoot them in the rain so we just went with it. As for the powder we keep the charges in a dry box so as long as you’re quick about getting them in the barrel you’re good to go. We wrap ours in nitrated paper which would not be fun to get wet but the guys who use aluminum foil don’t really have to worry about that problem as much.

It would be great to know if those projectiles are going subsonic or not. I suspect that, since you can see them during the faux-motion/slow motion clip, they are likely travelling at subsonic speeds. Maybe having them move in front of an abject with a big enough length and measuring the number of frames needed to cross the distance could help tell the velocity. It could help because the aerodynamical phenomenons will vary wildly depending on the speed of the projectile. Having a rough idea of the speeds involved may help you choose the best shapes to 3D print, or even design your very own "cannon slug" from scratch !

I’m hoping to get a chronograph and see how fast everything is moving one of these days! I’m going to have to figure out some new designs for stuff and see what works out!

I'm enjoying all your cannon shots, when I can think of something that you haven't already done I'll s end you another comment. BTW, I thought the video on the cannon construction was very interesting..

Dude! Use a stove lighter next time. That cigarette lighter puts the fingers WAY to close to the touchhole in case it goes faster than expected.

The marble would be debilitating in the compartment indirectly due to the glass powder.

If you didn’t see the video of “shooting weird cannonballs” they will destroy a watermelon. Just mist it.

hey cool video, would a marble grapeshot work? or would the marble's just turn into powder before leaving the barrel? If I had the skill and time I would try to make APFSDS rounds, like a small iron dart 4 -5 inches with fins and a 3d printed sabot. but I definitely don't have the skill to make something like that. you have a great channel keep it up!

Thank you so much! So we actually just shot the grape marbles in the video prior to this one called “shooting cannon grapeshot”. They are rather scary!

Its sooo cool how the smoke creeps over the ground like it has legs or something.

I think that’s one of my favorite parts is just the lingering smoke. Sometimes it’s a lot longer than other times depending on the humidity and wind.
