Shooting Stone Cannonballs

Today we're shooting some stone cannonballs, gravel, and stone grapeshot out of our revolutionary war style black powder cannon. One of you suggested that we shoot some rocks out of it and that's the inspiration for this video! Stone cannonballs were used for centuries, also called "gunners stone" before the widespread replacement of lead and iron cannonballs. How accurate are stones? How much damage will they do against a watermelon and a car door.
If you have any ideas about things you'd like to see us shoot with the cannon or shoot out of the cannon leave them in a comment below and we will try to get those out for you guys!

@@Kargoneth Me neither! Apparently that was a pretty common type of projectile, that and glass and other metal scraps. I'll test some of the glass rounds one of these days!

1) I hope you recover soon from the flu. 2) I've seen that you are planning on testing some pirate shot, a personal favorite is the cheapest of those : random junk in a wooden canister. It was favored by pirates and the french navy through most of the classical golden age of piracy ( roughly 1630/1730) for its availability and effectiveness in anti-personnel operations.

Thanks! I’m up and moving around now at least haha. Might you happen to have any idea what they would put in there? Just anything? Nails? Screws? Musket balls? Broken glass? I’m happy to make it happen I just want to make sure I have the right idea!

Hang a bed sheet at that distance and check the spread.

Once again great video! Maybe you could try to re create the scene from Pirate's of the Caribbean where they put cutlery in the cannon. It's fairly cheap to just go to a second hand store and buy al the knives and forks. I'm interested if it's even an effective shot And an other question how expensive is the blackpowder? I'm not from the US and I've got no clue how much this costs you. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! That’s coming soon as we just built our “pirate ship wall” and it’s gonna get shot soon with all kinda pirate ship projectiles. As for powder it’s anywhere between $25-$35 a pound before shipping depending on the brand. I’m excited for the silverware too!

have you tried chain-shot yet? also If you want to try the rocket shot like I mentioned before I think the best bet would be to buy a d12 hobby engine and then 3d print a canister like object and fire it

I have not but we just built a giant wooden wall so that’s coming up soon! We’ve got some new possibilities with the new range we will be shooting at as well!
