The goal of The Wilderness Living Challenge Season 3 survival series is to GAIN or MAINTAIN body mass living only on 100% WILD FOODS! In this episode we catch and cook a 5 foot alligator gar in South Texas. The whole series is about living off the land and trying to live as people did before there were supermarkets.
Woodobo SPICE (FOR SALE): tinyurl.com/y7s5cnoo
BOOKMARK THE FULL PLAYLIST (2 Episodes per Week): • Season 3: The Wilderne...
Episodes will run every TUESDAY and FRIDAY 10 a.m. EST.
Bob Hansler: / horsebackbob
We weight-in and weigh-out and if we lose any body mass at all, we have FAILED the challenge!
Paypal Donations: www.paypal.me/TheWoodedBeardsman
t-shirts: shop.bonfire.com/twb/
In this episode we show you how to harvest and cook an escaped/exotic pea hen (pea fowl/pea cock) which is legal in Texas since it is considered an domesticated animal. We cook the giant bird in a dutch oven using a dry pluck technique to preserve all the nutrients and fat in the skin. We pair this up with some left over cat meat from stew as well as mullberries we collect ripe from trees near our camp.
Unlike Naked and Afraid, ALONE, or Survivorman, there is no limit to the tools we are allowed to use. Living off just WILD foods is harder than you think!
In this episode we set lines for giant alligator gar using liver as bait and circle hooks on bank line or paracord. We catch a huge alligator gar and clean it using simple tools. We grill the alligator over open fire and also boil it to see which way is better. This alligator gar is huge and massive. The alligator gar can grow to be 80 years old and are prehistoric beasts!
We hunt FERAL hog too!
We fish for catfish, alligator gar, long nose gar and drum, crawfish, crawdads, or yabbies, ghost shrimp, bluegill, rio grande perch, armored catfish, flathead catfish, blue catfish, alligator, freshwater clams, leopard Frog.
All wild foods are on the menu!
We seek out wild edibles including prickly pear cactus pads or nopal, cactus fruit or tuna, wild onions, mulberries, wild grape, Texas persimmons, pecan and anacua, mulberry, tasajillo, turks cap, yucca pods, cats briar, oion, chili pequin, duck weed, ground cherries, desert hackberry.

Now try that with a fish you can't kill! I was fishing my favorite little spot on the Mississippi here in Minnesota and hooked a 52inch sturgeon which are fully protected. At they don't have teeth! I managed to drag him mostly out of the water, got a measurement, removed the hook and then stepped on the slimy mud where I had dragged him out. We both ended up in the river together and the sturgeon swam off without a care in the world. I, meanwhile, could not climb out on the wet silt and had to wade and swim about 100 feet to a rocky area where I could get enough grip to climb out. Unfortunately, the rocks were all covered with the same silt and I had to wait until I stopped dripping before I could move. I had, of course, not bothered bringing a camera which is probably for the best because it probably would have ended up in the river too. Still. It's a memory that will last a lifetime. Cheers!

Hey dude I just wanted to let you know this is the video from your channel that really sticks with me. Sometimes I feel like BV is more about Coyote showing off how "cool" and "brave" he himself is, not the animals...
@dtalks7644
@dtalks7644 5 лет назад
Elena Kowalska probably just showing his excitement about the animals. I personally don’t consider showing your bravery as showing off. I feel that it becomes showing off when you mention it. But then again that’s me.
