Yeah that’s the sound my dad heard the night the SRI was nicked lol 😂 the 90s was mad dayz mate 🤣 turned out it was the neighbour who did it used a screwdriver 🪛 to get it going lol 😂
Can't tell you how much I love how these videos transport me back to being 18 again. Had a 2.0GLi '91, and genuinely believe it to be one of the best cars I've have driven and owned, considering my current car was around 80K,it says a lot! That 2.0l engine sounds brilliant when driven hard. Thanks for the effort of bringing us the content. First class. Best wishes Richard.
I have zero interest in Vauxhalls but the algorithm recommended the channel, and seeing as your a fellow Scottish man, it's only right I subscribe. Been a minute since I last seen a Cav though! Noticed some familiar roads on the way back home 😃
Soon as mentioned that I thought exhaust blocked, has similar heading back from Inverness in my folks old Hyundai lantra, could hardly get up hill on M9. Glad she's all running like it should be 🤞
The old Vauxhall 8v was a brilliant engine when it was on song, I always loved hearing my old 1.8e in the mk2 cavalier sri singing when I was going home at night between Carstairs and The Forth, the from Herlaw roundabout to forth was a great road Ah-ha good old obligatory cable tie’s holding up the fuel filter, GM standard option that is lol 😅
Fantastic Video Dougie, have ever only seen one car shit*ING the contents out like that and that was on a cheap aftermarket back box. Cav sounded amazing after it blew the contents out! Reminds me how my aunties ex husband used to drive his Cavalier Club.😂😂
Had something similar happen with a Cat blocking up the system, expect mine was the ceramic braking apart. Once I'd cut a flap open with a grinder and removed the broken pieces, it was good to go after getting it patched up. Even got through it's next mot no problem!!
Had an R8 river drop its guts like that , I thought it was the kid next door stuffing cloth up the exhaust, gave him a right scalding….. needless to say I was the knob who had to apologize 😮
My fiestas back box blocked up and was the same only due to my dad putting his hand over back box and saying rev it no pressure whatsoever. New box and centre box back to normal
Your lucky Dougie the back box on my mates Land Rover Discovery collapsed but didn't clear . Air filter housing was severely damaged apparently due to back pressure
Made me laugh when Dougie says about the master mechanic who worked on this cav whilst the calliper swings on the brake hose 😝 😂 - all tongue and cheek people, so don’t get sh1ty with me
You can bin the cat on that anyway it’s precat requirement I had a pre facelift 1.8 gl on a 92 K and it was a no cat but people used to assume it was as k93 was cat became mandatory
"There ain't no way anyone passes me in a Base, not if they're going the same place as me." I always think of that mad bloke every time I see a GLi-or-above Cavalier.
As mentioned it's a Road Angel Pure. Got it Dec 21. Has full Smart Motorway live data subscription. Tells me where all the camera vans and fixed cameras are. Has a laser gun detector too but I imagine if it goes off they've already got you if over the limit. It's never pinged that way so far
Was the cat at the end simulating the furry stuff going into / out of the exhaust boxes ? There must have been a plug of all that material building up in one of the exhaust outlets that suddenly blew threw once it became critical and the engine overpressured it ? Really disappointing that Halfords have cheapened down even further on their products… Crosland are now total crap trading on the reputation of the old company that went bust… for some reason they don’t even need to say what country their random stuff comes from. £2.50 for an oil filter ? Come on…
Might be totally unrelated but I mind putting super in a T plate saab 93 and it didnt run worth a sook. Same story with a 2.0 ide laguna 02 plate didnt like it either . Each time was optimax ??
The Cavalier has an octane rating plug you can flip between 95/98. It dates from the leaded petrol era. I have it on 98 and it adjusts the settings for the fuel. There's no knock sensor on the old 8v hence the need for the plug
I'm guessing your going to Brands Hatch for the truck racing on Easter Sunday? A colleague from work and I are going as the store we work at is closed. Looking forward to it. Would be nice to get a glimpse of the Diplomat in the car park 👍😀
All you needed Dougie was someone tailgating you when the exhaust farted, they would have Shat themselves good and proper when that fluff came out the box
Non lambda engine loom, SEH ECU, decat box and camshaft. I will be taking all the valves and seals out and getting the head skimmed too. Got all the parts in stock I will get it Dynod before and after
Money we'll spent, low miles I dont think it been driven hard, it to you to wake it up lol Dougie. Exhaust isn't restricted now, more power 😂 must sound sporty loosing all that silencer material lol.
Was it that additive stuff you put in do you think? Or maybe that helped dislodge stuff...😅 Having just traded in a 2016 VW Golf GTD (190hp) For a Nissan Qashqai epower hybrid (also 190hp) you'll be pleased to know I'm not changing my driving style 😂 Happy to be 20p + a litre cheaper than filling with diesel and 40 mpg on silly short runs. My only 'weirdness' is no sound, unless you tank it and the petrol engine starts and no gears😮😅 Anyways. Great video as usual. Loves me some old Cavalier. Reminds me of the 2.0 8v my dad had as his last company car (H plate, apparently a 4x4 but we didn't know at the time.)
The same thing has happened to me , I mistakenly put the new E10 Petrol into my car instead of E5 Super unleaded and I lost all acceleration . I could rev the car in neutral but when in gear it had no power at all . I had to drain the petrol tank and replace the fuel filter and fuel lines .
Hey Dougie, did someone pull an April-fools prank on you? Did they stuff up the exhaust? 😂😉 That said, i once did help out a friend with a Peu 306. It had NO power. Turned out the cat was clogged up and melted. So i took an angle grinder, cut a neat 'door' in the cat and folded it open. Out came the honeycomb stuff with some persuasion with a crowbar. Then folded the door back shut and welded it in place. Job done! Car had full power again.
Imagine if you were driving along and saw what looked like Bobby balls hair come out the back of that cavalier hahahaha. Also the a67 has been really bad for years just like darlo itself which it comes from
