Chuck sucks at golf and somehow his golf knowledge is worth $60M? His basketball knowledge is only worth $10M to TNT and he's a hall of famer. I don't get it.
@@StoriesbyDAF Nearly every single person who actually WATCHES golf, sucks at golf. Therefore everyone can relate to him where golf is concerned. He happens to be quite funny too.
So true, just like the PGA tour. It’s all about the money! Who stayed behind on the DP, Asian, Japanese, or Australian tour? They all left for the money! And now the PGA tour is trying to decimate the DP tour even more.
One of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. First DP starts out doing the comparison of NBA players, Charles says that’s lazy but then DP keeps doing the DP thing and Charles starts comparing, just brilliant, then from not giving any numbers to 20 million 🎯 and 75 on the table as a bar, DP should get commission on the potential deal 😂 but it doesn’t stop there, DP calls Charles out for third person reference haha, no one can do that to Charles except DP. Just brilliant.
Chuck in general is a very straight shooter, but when pressed on matters that everyone else would keep under wraps, he still can't help but be honest. He just doesn't want to BS anybody, and I love that about him.
It shouldn't be that exceptional. And it shouldn't be required that we admire what he says because he's blunt in his opinions. I like Charles when he's honest and makes a good case for his opinion at the same time. Too often, he's honest in making stupid comments. I don't admire that.
@@surfwriter8461 I’m talking about you. Keep trash talking a man paid millions to give his opinion. If yours were that good, you won’t be on RU-vid trying to sound CUTE!
Dan kept pressing Charles on the number. Why would he announce to the world and LIV what his number is? The question Charles should ask Dan is: What's your number Dan to join LIV?
Love Charles on TNT, but he can do whatever he chooses to do. I appreciate his honesty. You don't get too much of that from sports personalities. He flat out said if they offer him a huge deal he will consider it.
Even with him not agreeing with Charles Barkley he conducted this interview phenomenally. He asked the tough questions gave his opinion he truly was a great conversation could not get out my car.
Great interview and we love Charles. Honesty and genuineness is what we love I Charles. We hope Charles stays because that chemistry is great on TNT and he absolutely delivers pure comedy on TNT.
I would be crushed to lose Chuck on the greatest studio show in sports history, but he deserves all the money coming his way. Look at what Brady is gonna make with zero experience. Chuck needs the bag.
@@edfa3706 charles alludes to in this interview that he makes 20+ million yearly from his TNT deal. Thats not in the realm of 30 million a year for tom brady's 10 year contract?
@@ryanmussell739 My guess is that since LIV is still maligned and viewed in a negative light, the likelihood of TNT choosing to keep Charles would be pretty slim. He's already getting shamed for just meeting with them. I do admire Charles being transparent and honest about meeting with them. He has nothing to be ashamed of.
Had a chance to meet Chuck a few times face to face. He’s such a Great guy! Trust Liv tour knows exactly what they are doing! There is simply no better sports commentator than Charles Barkley.
He wants to retire besides he’s tired of these sensitive ass basketball players. If this new golf contract is kinda of retirement for him that’s his decision.
I think it is absolutely a wonderful forward thinking move by Greg Norman and LIV to get Chuck. And good for Chuck for putting himself in that position.
What media personality have you seen openly discuss negotiations as well as throw his current employer under the rug, Wow. We will never see another Charles Barkley
Once again! DP shows, he’s the best in the Biz!!!! “Ask the question and get out of the way “.... hats off to fritzy.... also, “Sir Charles” is a 🐐 and legend.
? It's good work if you can get it, but his analysis at TNT is cursory. They laugh because he doesn't even know who some of starters or subs are on teams. Spends very little time preparing. Just jokes.
Absolutely fantastic interview with tough questions & hilarious banter on LIV. I always appreciate Dan’s interviews and this one, is no exception. Had Charles scrambling a bit and you can tell Charles is nervous about this whole situation.
- Chuck is 100% right. 2) The PGA makes a ton of money and control golf forever. 3) LIV tour is washing the image of Saudi Arabia [SA] -- just like Thailand. They used their food to make a favorable image of their country. SA is using golf. So...there isn't a right or wrong answer.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the moral consciences of most celebrities, pro-athletes, and other public figures are as flexible as their wallets are fat. It doesn’t matter that Charles Barkley already lives comfortably and makes more than most will see in a lifetime. It doesn’t matter that he’s been vocal about his beliefs and his upbringing. It doesn’t matter that he’s funny, charismatic, and a legend on and off the court. He and many others like him have their price, even if it means selling out to the Saudis. He isn’t a role model, and he’s not trying to be. I know this is a sad and cynical way of looking at things, but if LIVGolf has taught us anything, it’s that we live in a sad and cynical world.
Our country would be an exponentially better place if more people acted like Charles Barkley. He's honest about calling out the selective hypocrisies in this country - we have government leaders talking about climate yet they fly jets and drive SUVs/Trucks. We have companies who grandstand about equality yet do business with countries that don't recognize same sex marriage and treat women like third-class citizens. I hope Charles gets the bag with LIV and enjoys himself.
@@DrPhill96 As a fan of Barkley, I won’t watch him if he goes to LIV. I’m not going to support a propaganda front disguised as a sports league just because he’s a part of it. Besides, I’m not even a golf fan, and this isn’t a way to make the game appeal to people like me.
@@The_Real_Kal-El Whats lame is that when enough players and top announcers go to LIV they won't be seen as negative anymore.... cause sponsors dont actually care they only act like they care
US has been protecting and cuddling the Saudis for generations. Oil baby. Saudis attacked 9/11 and the US bombed Afghanistan and Iraq. Bottom line it’s all about money. Americans are hypocrites because they would do anything for that cash. Morals and integrity are over. Chuck is honest, no BS.
If I'm a NBA executive I wouldn't touch KD with a 50ft pole. As great as KD is on the court, his injury history and indecisiveness has sadly trumped that Super star, HOF talent. I've never been a Celtics fan but I love some of its players. It was a time Dennis Johnson was my favorite Celtics player because he signed an autograph and was really nice to one of my homies. Russell, Bird, Pierce, Garnett.
DP talks about the LIV Tour fracturing the PGA Tour... the PGA Tour is fracturing the PGA Tour. The PGA Tour could just ignore the LIV but they decided to compete with it.
Stop with the old joke meme. Chuck did not disrespect GSW and steph, he just told steph is not built for physicality, which is true no disrespect right there
@@terrencealexander6811 Lol steph is not stronger and bigger than isaih they are the same size and as far as stronger where did you get that lol, Steph should be thankful the rules are much weaker now that benefit their team so much
This was a master at his craft goin to work! Good job DP! Chuck! you said that you'd be retiring in about 2 yrs from TNT. You said you were gonna ride off to the sunset after that. You have made all the money in the world, for your kids and kid's kids to last a lifetime. You are one of the most beloved sports figures of all time. You've done well in your life. Don't take the money sir. You're better than that.
Liv tour didn't fracture golf the PGA did that by suspending players. None of this would have been a big deal if they would have just let people play both. But they never dreamed this many guys with switch over and it was all fun and games when it was just Phil to go after
Exactly right. And now they're talking to the lpga. Dan keeps bringing up 9/11, that is irrelevant, the Saudi government had nothing to do with 9/11. Wake up, Dan!
How does LIV grow the game? When is the last time golf has been talked about so much for two straight months? ESPN barely talks about majors the Monday after anymore unless Tiger’s involved.
Actually the chips are made in Taiwan, which China wants to invade ;) But respect to Chuck for admitting it’s about the money, and he ain’t wrong, USA still does business in SA and countries like China.
@@Gnofg stop you ppl can’t criticize chuck when the US gov is comfortably in bed with the Saudi’s selling weapons to them to kill the ppl , of Yemen , they killed journalist, funded 9/11 etc! Be constant
@@terrencealexander6811 Like I said if you can't tell the difference between what a President's responsibility to its citizens and a government competing against a private enterprise I pity you.
@@Gnofg how does selling weapons to Saudi to destroy Yemen benefit the citizens of the US? This shouldn’t be a issue a private citizen doing business with Saudi if we’re comfortably in bed with them .
Actually charles most people that are critical of athletes working in sa and china, are indeed critical of the US government not supporting the rights of Americans
@@petebigner151 that’s actually a pretty good take… it would be smart on TNT’s part because that would also extend Chuck past when he wanted to retire.
I don't think Chuck was going to stay at his current job beyond this contract anyway. I think he loves the show and the crew but also is ready to either retire or do something different. This would be different (and very well paid). He probably loves the controversy anyway (I would too). Dwayne Wade would probably move into his spot at Turner (if would be Draymond Green if he got injured and decided to suddenly retire from basketball). Shaq would be jealous that Chuck got this offer and Kenny would just continue running to the board...
I didn’t believe reports that Charles would have to leave TNT if he went to LIV but from what I heard here it does sound like it’s one or the other. If the sports world and fans in general lose Charles on Inside the NBA that would be a colossal, depressing moment. I know he’s a few yrs away from retiring from TNT anyway but we wouldn’t get to say our goodbyes in a proper fashion.
TNT should let him still do Inside and not worry about the advertisers, the “outrage” will be largely from loudmouths on Twitter trying to hold companies they don’t even do business with hostage. And it’ll blow over.
