Chevy Duramax stuck on the Beach at Lake Powell

We got a call for a Chevy Duramax that was stuck at Lone Rock beach, Lake Powell.
They had several trucks try to pull him out, without success.
*Disclaimer there was a second party assisting the banana on the pull, but they've asked to not be in the video.
We were able to get them pulled out, and back to solid ground.
While there we also pulled out a Ford Explorer, and a Chevy Cruz.
We played around on the rocks, and went for a quick boat ride!
All in all a fun and successful trip!

Pro-tip: Momentum. Wether you're climbing a rock or trailer deck, come up to it slow but don't come to a complete stop, instead keep a little momentum up and aid that with the throttle to overcome the resistance of the climb / lack of traction. IE: keep moving ...

I learnes when i was 16 and firsted started off roading 99% on the time the knowlege of where to hook and how to pull matters way more then size of vehichle especially if u got a winch

I am looking into camping and road trips maybe next summer, my biggest fear was being stranded in the middle of no where. So I've been learning all I can and I know, at the end of the day, I'll be OK. I'll eventually get out of whatever situation I am in, either from people like you or others willing to help. Unless he knows the company and recovery technique I guarantee he said "sh**, I called the wrong guys" when they showed up :) when the big wrecker people assume would instantly get stuck.

Any of the 3/4-1 ton diesel trucks are at a disadvantage in an off-road situation unless they were build for off-road use. You've got 1,000-1,300 pounds of engine sitting directly over the front wheels. A 265-275mm wide tire doesn't have much foot print on soft surfaces, so they sink in sand and fluffy snow. Wet snow they sink down to pavement and do OK. I'd like to see the Banana getting a 4BT Cummins swap for the next engine. They spin fast enough to develop wheel speed, and have good torque for pulling power, plus great fuel economy. I've got an F-650, Cummins 5.9 powered with 345/75-22.5 tires. It pulls well off-road, but not in sand. Way too heavy of a truck.

@@gungadinn I have an F250 with a Powerstroke I take it to the dunes and 4x4 beaches all the time. My truck is even heavier than most with a RanchHand bumper hanging out front, traction bars, and all the tools and gear I haul. Never been stuck. Usually air down to 15psi in the front and 12psi in the rear. Even if that guy was aired down to 20psi, with that small amount of sidewall it doesn't do much, especially in that sand. That an I would bet that his camper trailer tires were not aired down. And unfortunately, most people have no experience driving on the sand which is a big factor.

Most of those low profile tires dont get better when you air down. They dont make any wider footprint than they do with 45 PSI. Look cool. Therein lies the extent of their usefullness offroad. We call them rubber bands here.

Not when you see the bill. I'm cheap yet still expensive. I'm guessing $1 a mile until he gets off the pavement then maybe $185/ hour after that and if he's already there probably $100-$200 a yank minimum.

If I had a dollar for everyone I've pulled out of lone rock beach or how many boats I've pulled onto the beach when the wind picks up .... watching you pull out the Duramax and camper brought back many memories!! Still amazed at how many people you have rescued in the "BANANA" we have an offroad recovery business here in Monument Colorado, would love to visit you guys in Hurricane utah and learn some techniques in sandy conditions, your definitely the best I've seen....love your channel 👍

It has to be a head swelling experience to show up on much larger and heavier vehicles that other vehicles most likely over accessorized full sized pickups failed to recover and an older little jeep Cherokee yanks them out

I always camp at lone rock, when I come down from Colorado, sand gets deep always big campers and cars, SUV stuck. Thanks to know who to call when stuck ( I have managed to get my chevy k2500 and my 15' off road camper out with some work) HA! Now I know I jinxed myself. You guys rock!
