I remember as a teenager feeling very resentful that I was born a female because I thought it meant that I eventually would have sacrifice my body, money and ambitions to have a child. It wasn’t until 2 years ago that I realized I could opt out of parenting. Nobody EVER presents parenthood as an option to girls. I cannot thank you and other childfree influencers ENOUGH ❤

I was so scared as a kid because everyone told me I will change my mind. So I thought I would become insane with age because then I would want to press a human through my vagina. Today I'm still sane.

As a single/unmarried and childfree man, people give me pushback for it and I get called "selfish". Men want children to add to their legacies, bloodlines and last names which are all selfish reasons.

Exactly, we're all selfish in different ways, we want time/freedom/money, they want their "legacy". Just see if they'll actually put in the work for it.

Not to mention that all will be forgotten in time. There are a lot of mediocre men out there thinking their children will be the next Elon Musk. Legacy is a illusion, a artificial construct. Even the most famous people are only remembered out of convenience and at most only have buildings in their name.

There's definitely a big difference at how childfree women are treated compared to men i don't ever remember hearing about male celebrities who are childfree getting judged for their choice Christopher lloyd John Cusack Dave franco Seth Rogen Alan Cumming while some female celebrities did

I think that's largely because men can father children well into old age. The people who assume everyone has to have children often assume those men will "get around to it eventually".

I know my fiancé had a much easier time getting his vasectomy, and when I met him I had scheduled a bilateral salpingectomy with so much difficulty that, of course, I went through with it! Luckily, he was adopted by an Australian couple when he was a baby, and as his mother and dad were in their forties, his mother being a feminist and his father an Atheist, so they never pressured him to have kids of his own! I was raised by an Irish-Catholic American father and a Brazilian mother, neither of them actually ever pressured me into getting married or having children, just to focus on my studies and my career and then decide what I wanted to do with my life. My mother had a single and childfree great uncle, and my father has a single and childfree sister and a single and childfree niece. They never pressured me into learning how to be a housewife (I still can't cook) or to step into a mother role for my cousins (though my aunts tried, I had none of it)! Also, my father always told me I could be anything I wanted. So, I guess I had a very privileged upbringing if compared to most girls. I said I never wanted to have children when I was 13, I just turned 23 less November. I broke up with a previous boyfriend because he kept saying I would change my mind. Well, too late now! Thankfully. I was celibate until I could get the procedure, what with Roe being overturned and all!

@@CordeliaWagner1999 I know. I was just lucky enough not to have to learn it yet! Chill, I'm only 23! And also my fiancé can afford a cook for himself, so we agreed we'd keep the cook and the housekeeper that he already has when I move in with him! He's a young doctor and has a trust fund that his father left him as inheritance when he died. I also come from a well to do family. I did say I had a very privileged upbringing compared to most girls. My mom only cooked for us (not on weekend's, on weekends we went out to eat, or got take-out). Even though she didn't work outside the house, my father could afford a housekeeper. To be honest he coud aford a cook too, but she always said she liked to cook!

Childfree women and men is a very important and good topic to talk about. I am a 36 year old man who is mildly autistic and I would like to learn more about if there is more disadvantages to people with disabilities who have children or tempted to have children. I look forward to learning more about and the Childfree!

My husband and son are both high-functioning autistics. Autism does have a significant genetic component so your chances are higher. My husband and I are of the generation where having kids was 'normal' so we timed when we had our two but never seriously considered not having any. Our autistic son is doing well and vaguely likes the idea of having kids someday. Our non-autistic daughter does not want kids because they seem to be too much work and sacrifice for the reward (which I fear is informed by how hard living with and raising autistic men has been for me (I am neurotypical)). I am happy with my 'choice', but it has not been costless. Just my lived experience for what that is worth.

I am a 40 year old man who is also mildly autistic. I work part time at Walmart, don’t drive, and still live with my parents. I would like to live on my own and get married one day but don’t want any children. Part of the reason why I don’t want children is because raising children will be a lot for me with my autism. I also worry too that my children would also turn out special needs or autistic and raising children that are special needs or have autism will be extremely hard for me since I am already struggling with my autism.

One of the biggest issue about being a woman is being recognized as a person. Period. In the United States, the medical community treats women like they're not people.

I am a childfree man. In childfree communities, it seems like I have it a lot easier than childfree women. The leaving a legacy thing makes no sense at all. It becomes even more ridiculous for people whose last names are things like Johnson or Smith.

@hermitmode932
@hermitmode932 3 месяца назад
You realize that we live in 2024, century 21 where it is no longer necessary to be provided, controlled, subjugated and abused in the name of "family". A woman does not lose the autonomy of her body in front of a man and is not enrolled in a political-religious, socio-demographic party for the breeding program. No sane woman will choose you as a partner and fertilizer to be provided by you. It's amazing what you can do as a woman when you are free, have a house bought, a car bought, substantial savings, a decent salary and a decent job, money for vacations and hobbies. Time, freedom, health, rest and the absence of unnecessary responsibilities. The reason why you are celibate and sick of handjob is because you are a mental, emotional, spiritual, financial and material wreck, believing yourself to be righteous, privileged and superior, considering the woman a simple object to be used at will. You are a nuisance.

The childfree movement looked more convincing when people typically had families/kids. Now, when unplanned childlessness is on the rise, the whole thing sound like a massive cope. You can't find someone that want to have babies with you, actual so tell yourself you don't want them.
@hermitmode932
@hermitmode932 3 месяца назад
Adopt one. Period. Mission accomplished. No need for a woman breeding program to pop - up & raise a fucking unwanted kid. You're tough enough to raise it by yourself a kid. Many unwanted children in orphanages who want a home, a loving parent like you.

less pressure and expectations than with women, se less men feel like they have to justify being childless. For women it is literally something that is built into the expectations since childhood (think of e.g. the baby dolls that are gifted to little girls)
@christins.1481
@christins.1481 4 месяца назад
@@evak4683"expectations since childhood" So true! I remember being 5-7 and grossed out when women would ask me how many babies I would have when I got older. Then they wanted to me their babies and got irritated when I didn't want to see their babies. All the other little girls were clamoring to see their babies and I just stood their. One woman regretted telling me I could ask her anything and she was asking while nursing. So I asked her how much milk she could carry and she looked at me like I was an Alien. Some people will tell me western culture raised me to be like which is far from the truth. I'm 41 and this was in Germany. Culture didn't raise me to have no desire to birth babies. I just naturally don't want to birth babies. I love kids but don't want any of my own.
