Classic Game Room reviews ELEVATOR ACTION for Nintendo Entertainment System, the awesome NES game based on Taito's 1983 arcade game. You are a super spy sent on a top secret mission to secure documents from buildings that only have elevators and escalators. STAIRS ARE NOT ALLOWED! I played the hell out of this in the arcade. Always thought it was funny when you pass an enemy spy on the escalator going opposite directions. When you're on a floor of the building you're dire enemies, on the escalator it's 'Hey, how's it going?'

I haven't played this but did recently play Elevator Action 2 in the arcade and loved it. Reminded me a lot of Rolling Thunder. (even though since the first EA is on NES I'm guessing it must have came first)

Randy Hansen hi I used to play it in the arcade. How can I play it on my laptop and/or smartphone? To bad Playstation hasn't added it to its new NES console I also loved spy hunter and would love to know how to play that too

Mark, you should play Elevator Action Returns. It is overwhelming with awesome. 90's Taito arcade games at its finest.

Good review. It looks and plays very close to the arcade version (available on TAITO Legends 1). On the harder levels, towards the bottom of the building, if a red door is too far away from you (more than 3 shafts away), I enter the basement. It will warp you immediately to the door you missed. No jumping necessary!!!

Elevator Action Returns was originally an arcade machine and it was ported to the Sega Saturn.

This must be on an emulator. The sound of the escalator is off and the way it's scrolling doesn't seem as smooth as it should. Though, that could be RU-vid's encoding to blame. This is an awesome port of the Taito classic. I wish EA2 got more love since its also a great game.

I'd ask you to do "Elevator Action Returns" on the Saturn, but that game is pretty expensive these days and I doubt anyone is just going to send it out. Glad I got it back in the day, easily one of my favorite Saturn games.

There is a port of Elevator Action Returns on the Taito Legends 2 Collection for the PS2 that is cheap as fuck on eBay.

True, and I'd recommend that to anyone that has no other choice, but there are some emulation issues with the game. Still, better than nothing.

Same. I bought the Saturn port, mainly because I have a japanese Saturn so it was worth it to me, but the PS2 version should be okay though I heard it has resolution and sprite issues-wtf?

It’s such bullshit how they kill you sometimes before you get a chance to pop off shots. Also, this game is great training for avoiding speed traps on the highway. You’re always anticipating the worst, enemies coming out of every possible door sometimes 2-3 at a time, and it translates over perfectly while driving, assuming there’s a cop with a radar gun coming out of every possible crevice. Very fun game
