Thank you for this review and IAT details! I wanted to help lower my IAT temp over my Cobb SF unit and ordered one out of a guess that it might help :) Appreciate your reviews and confirming my hopes!
Awesome info, the cooler the intake air the better the car will run. 👍🏽 I just got my SF intake yesterday. I was so thirst to install it that I did while it was drizzling 🌧. I notice a difference, but I have to get a tune. I’m running on the OTS map 93 stage 1+.
After switching from stock intake to the Cobb redline is a huge difference in sound. After install the car wasnt too happy with it being in. It didnt want to start and took a minute to start. Once started the car held a high rpm idle and slowly came back down to a little lower than original idle. The throttle response was also not as instant as it was before install. I drive an 18 STi. It definitely needs a tune from an accessport for this install. It sounds amazing and i love how it reaponds when it is actually on the highway. With that said it did have a hiccup while on the highway. Definitely needs a tune. It did make the car feel more a live.
@@benharbin1241 car was tuned before i actually drove it around. First drive was just a test drive to check it out. But yeah.... it definitely needs at minimal a ots tune :/ covid is issues for going places for anything. Be safe
I am at a bit of a cross roads with my SF intake. On one hand I want to do all of the modifications that most people do to keep the IAT's low (gold tape on the outside of the box, maybe some insulation on the inside, fender air ducting, etc). More and more I am starting to lean towards just buying this new intake but I just don't have the funds for it currently but I might consider getting it later on. My car is still stock on the stage one map.
just bought an sf intake and a AP, do you recommend the OTS tunes? Or do you personally go to a tuner. After i installl these both, i’m planning on getting it tuned from a tuner in NJ and going to be getting the same BPV you installed. Kinda new to all this lol, thanks in advance ! (forgot to mention i have a 2020 STi)
The cobb ots is very safe. And by that I mean it’s catered to a blanket of cars as opposed to individually tuning your specific car. I highly recommend getting the car tuned on the dunk or an etune catered to your specific car. Not all mods and cars are created equal!
How much power does the car make w a stage 1+ sf? I have an 18. Just installed an invidia N1. My access port and Cobb sf is in a box, waiting due to warranty.
Hard to say since every car is different. But if I were to guess, I would say probably around 300-310hp and 290-300tq to the wheel. Maybe a little more. Maybe a little less, but I would say around there is what you should expect.
So not a big difference in sounds/loudness between the regular SF and Redline? How about stock versus this, big difference, does the video do it Justice?
Thanks for the quick reply! What about tuning it, have you just ran the Cobb OTS stuff or do you get pro-tunes? Any issues with reliability? I’m heavily debating on modding my STi, but I’m not so sure about if it’s worth it now or not…
Sucks pun intended lol.... About the sound was I wanted it to be just as loud as the SF , but I am still planning on picking this up, been wanting more carbon fiber products for the sti world.
Trust me, it sounds very good. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Keep in mind, I came from the SF intake. If you are coming from stock, you won't notice the difference. However, since I was able to own and enjoy both, I was able to do the comparison. It's worth the price.
have you tried putting the end cap to see if it is quiet? i want an intake but do not want the added woosh noises and the risk of injesting water as my sti is my full time car. i just discovered this intake and it appears to be fully sealed with the end cap and will not heat soak since it is very close to the stock intake design layout.
I haven’t tried it with the end cap on, so I can’t comment. However, Cobb claims it removed the intake sound completely. You won’t have an issue with hydro locking. Unless your car is in a lake with water over the hood, you won’t have to worry about that.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Thank you for the video brother! Honestly, I have the whole carbon fiber theme going and liked the design but I like the sounds a lot more :D I think I should perhaps stick with the Cobb Big SF intake then
Is that a radar detector? Love the vids. I just tuned my '16 STI with the OTS Stage 1 COBB map but was looking at this intake and you definitely sold me on it after also watching the install video. Thanks! I am also running the COBB SS catback.
Scoobyfreak86 Hi great video, what do you recommend I've got an 2020 sti with Invidia R400 exhaust installed already, the parts I've got but still didn't install are invidia catted downpipe and the cobb redline intake, just got my Accessport. should i go stage 1+ with the intake without downpipe or stage 2 downpipe without intake? what would you recommend?
If you are planning to go more than stage 1+, you’ll need all the proper supporting fueling mods. I would recommend just the intake and stage 1+ tune. If you want to add a downpipe, I suggest upgrading the fueling components.
@@Scoobyfreak86 what about just dp and exhaust no intake? still, need fuel sysytem ? thank you btw good info. tbh I've got another car that's stock with 608bhp so the Wrx sti I'm not looking to go crazy bhp with it due to its notorious problems and people pushing the limit with a small fragile boxed engine smh that's why i love ur feedback
If you have another car that has power, stay stage 1+. It’s plenty of fun snd it honestly doesn’t need more power. It’s all about the balance and how it handles. But yes, can go stage 2 with a Downpipe. Just can’t do the intake as well unless you upgrade the fueling.
@@Scoobyfreak86 man exactly what I needed to hear, I agree no need for a lot of power it's fun to drive daily as is just with the Invidia R400 exhaust. that's why i bought the car. side question did you install a catch can or Aos ?
I love your sti by the way. I’ve got a 2015 sti i wish I would have got the lapis blue instead of the WRB. Lol Keep up the good work your videos are great.
Have you done any videos with the side plate installed? Wondering if the induction noise is even more reduced with it installed. I definitely agree with the sf intake and when gassing just a little and it sounding like its too much. Lmk
Never tried it. The most preferred intake for most tuners is the Cobb sf. Most consistent readings and actually can provide gains. I’m sure this redline will be a favorite of the tuners due to the lower IAT’s.
