I don't know why I am writing this in third person. I am Gus. I wrote this. My brother is Sven Johnson, that guy's alright. I've suppressed a good chunk of my childhood memories as someone who was also youngest with just theater kid siblings, lol People think it's odd I tense up at someone busting out a few lyrics for fun, but they never had their room raided on the regular with full on belting out of songs from whatever the latest musical they're in or obsessed with. 🙃

The people i met like this both in and outside theater were the worst people I've ever met and left lasting damage on my sense of self worth and faith in people. I've never met more two faced people in my life. And looking back I'm glad i never got close to popular theater kids like i wanted to because looking at how any of those kid's relationships went, i think i saved myself a lot of time and pain. I think reality really hit them hard later on and I actually feel bad for them now

I went to school for theatre. I was very lucky that most of the people who were in my program were nothing like this. Eccentric? Mentally ill? Yes. Mean? Not really. I have met people like this though. It makes me kinda sad that a lot of theatre people act this way because theatre can be lifesaving for many people, myself included. I also wish it was more accessible for underrepresented groups.

My favorite bit which he mentioned but didn't include was where there'd be the kid singing in the hallway loudly, and maybe some nice kid walking by would say "hey that's pretty cool" and the person would respond acting surprised like "Oh, you heard that? Ohh thank you sooo much"

There are no words to describe how accurate this is and how insufferably terrible college theater kids are. I am currently one of them and cannot wait to escape the nightmare. The utter insanity. The true buffoonery. The stupidity. It is sickening. This video reminded me of all of the anxiety and distain of the theater that I have the utmost displeasure of returning to this fall. I've never acted but I did go to an audition once with my sister... it was all models sitting quietly judging everyone and drama people doing vocal exercises... it is a special kind of hell when you don't have to be there.

i once went to some (polish) TV show audition to accompany my friend and since i was already there and stayed in line with him, i made the stupidest choice i could and wrote myself in. i come into the audition room completely freaked out by all the cameras and 3 people asking me weird questions and after they were done doing photos of me from every angle possible, they asked "are you here to be an extra, or..." and at the time i didn't even know what it means (it's not a common word in polish, ok?) so i said "idk, sure". later, my friend wasn't chosen, but i was (as an extra) and i "had to" go there alone. other extras that were here were soooo annoying. the whole 12h they couldn't stop bragging about their "carrier" as extras and with how many famous actors they "worked with"

@@alimfuzzy i wonder... do You maybe know how much was he paid? in Poland this is just a rip-off job. extras get paid LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE + you get paid in cash so they evade taxes + you're less likely to be chosen the 2nd time (for obv reasons). i doubt it was his "fulltime job" but idk. maybe it's different in other coutries? *i've been an extra over 10 times, it's not just one company.

@thatguy5233 nope, can't remember what she was paid, but I definitely remember being impressed by the amount for being a highschool student... I'm kind of recalling it was something like $300-$500 a day... but that was in sydney early 2000s. It was practically a full time job, she was with an agency and they just sent her anywhere, there were a lot of movies on at the time, she was in matrix movies, dark city, power rangers. Pretty steady gig back then when they were new studios. Now I have no idea.

lol i remember when i went to bristol old vic to do a show there and i was several minutes late because i didnt know where the building was, when i finally entered the building i hear THIS: 0:11 down the hall but more longer and somehow scarier, also everyone was doing it in a room that should of not been that big. then i enter the big room where everybody else is and the majority of people in that room look EXACTLY like gus looks in this video.
