Ok, Nico. You may or may not have seen my comment on the Dublin trip video. I don't personally have access to an 812 GTS, but I do have access to a 458 Italia. Early on it's life it had a minor rear collision with a driveway security post and the owner had almost exactly the same issues as you had with error messages, which could not be sorted - i'll come to that. I spoke to him about your video and issues and showed him your 'reactions' as the error lights and messages came up. Back to my friend. His 458 had a brand new rear bumper and the EXISTING parking sensor loom and sensors were rescued and refitted to the new bumper. Virtually ten minutes after leaving the bodyshop a parking sensor message came on the dash, then within minutes the 'christmas trees' followed, ABS, Manettino error (the little dial for those that don't know)... and a host of other lights and messages in succession. Turning off the car would mostly clear these messages, but the parking sensor one would always return. And, as you have experienced, after sometimes a few minutes to an hour the rest would follow causing the car to seemingly 'sh*t the bed'. If you continued to try and start the car after stopping it, it would just not respond until those messages were cleared. Several trips to Ferrari could not find the problem, nothing in their diagnostic software was pinpointing the issues. Battery was changed - three times. The Parking sensor node module was changed. Still same issues. To cut a long story short...'short' being the operative word here, it turned out to be a rear parking sensor which had an intermittent internal short, the same sensor that was pushed in by the security post but which visually appeared in perfect condition. This was replaced and the issues disappeared. Obviously you haven't had a collision in your car, but electronic components DO and CAN fail at any time. The cars ecu runs checks on the 'wellbeing' of the car every few minutes, that's how it reports things like a bulb gone or failure of other parts with sensors. The replacement sensor was about 75 quid and fixed the whole issue, yet even a Ferrari main dealer diagnostic could not pinpoint the part.. For the sake of the relatively small cost (in relation to the car), surely this should be one of the first physical fault finding operations they should carry out. Removing and replacing each sensor one by one and seeing if the fault appears would be my first go to strategy, followed by the node replacement if that doesn't pinpoint a faulty part. I wouldn't waste this amount of my time if I didn't think 1 - I could help and 2 - I'm almost certain I'm right, or at least in the same ballpark.

It also feels to me like a bad module or sensor dragging down the CAN-BUS network (or if Ferrari utilize a LIN-BUS network for certain things). Maybe whatever it is has to get to a certain temperature for it to start malfunctioning (after one hour would make sense).

@relixio4889 3 месяца назад
@@MowgliCSM the one hour and if its every other drive would also make a lot of sense depending on how long Ferrari has their "drive cycle time" at, saying after an hour of driving on two trips of a failure it results in Christmas tree dash, not very familiar with Ferraris but I'm an ase certified technician and most computers act similarly when it comes to obd and providing trouble codes and warning lights

@@MurderBong I highly doubt that a company like Novitec wouldn't have checked and double checked that... and besides, the car ran fine for some time before the errors came up on Nicos Euro escapades.. It's possible though, anything is with fragile car electronics, loose cable in connector by pulling connector (you won't see it loose), or loose connector itself, dirty connection, pinched wiring loom caught between panels or clips...the list is exhaustive, excuse the pun... let's hope Nico gets to the bottom of this.

Ferrari are asses, they’ll always try and wriggle out of their obligations all they actually care about is protecting the brands reputation the exhaust and suspension work has nothing to do with the electrical gremlins and there’s no way they should or can void your warranty for that! They could exclude those parts from warranty repairs as they aren’t their parts but that’s all! Well if you're buying a new Ferrari straight from the company then you should know that's not allowed. You signed that document. It's not like they don't tell you this upfront. So it's his fault that the warranty has been invalidated. If we comply with their rules, there's hardly any brand out there that looks after their customers better than Ferrari. And there's a reason a Ferrari doesn't lose that much value like it's other counterparts.

In the UK a warrantee can only be refused due to modification IF the modifications are found to be directly attributed to (and not randomly assumed that somehow they might be attributed to) the issue the car owner is requesting to use the warrantee to get fixed. You can not void a warrantee for the replacement of a broken rear window motor because of an exhaust, that is simply not legal in the UK, and if Nico took it to court he would almost certainly win. It's not uncommon for big companies to try and bully their way into not paying for warrantee repairs, but this doesn't make what they are doing legal, they just know 99% of people will not take it to court, so they get away with it. It probably wouldn't even make it to court, and they would just do the repairs after getting served or as a pre trial settlement deal...

This is not something that only Ferrari does, all manufacturers void the warranty for exhaust or other such hardware and software modifications. An exhaust can interfere with the ECU and send it data that it has not been programmed to receive that then interfere with other calculations it needs to do etc. Also, a good exhaust could increase power, not as much as a sticker, but it still will, or if not done properly, it will lower power and restrict gas flow, this means engine life is diminished as per the manufacturer's calculations. So yeah, kind of a bummer but it also kind of makes sense. If you would make a watch and the people would start taking it apart and modifying components, would you still keep the warranty valid? I wouldn't.

I bought a vw caddy (obviously not a supercar but VW can be funny to deal with too) and I fitted coilovers, bigger wheels, remapped it and fitted a load of other small modifications to it all while under warranty. When it went in for its first service I asked where I stood with the warranty and the answer I was given was basically if any suspension components or tyre pressure sensors were to wear out quicker than they should, they may refuse to replace them under warranty because it could be deemed that the stiffer suspension may have put more stress on things like ball joints, wishbone bushes etc. causing them to wear out quicker than they would under standard shocks and springs. And because wheels had been changed they may not cover tyre pressure sensors if they were to ever fail during the warranty period. I didn’t mention the remap 😅 but the company that mapped it said that if ever it needed to go in for anything ecu related they had saved the original map and would restore it for me. So basically they would definitely still cover all the bits that hadn’t been touched but there was a possibility they could refuse to repair/replace things that may be affected by the mods I’d done. Which I thought was totally fair. What Ferrari are doing with you is ridiculous. Ok so you fitted a different exhaust and wheels etc but that’s got nothing to do with the issues you’ve been having. So why are they being so up tight!?

The fact that if you return it to stock would re-validate your warranty shows what you have done is reversible and therefore should never have affected your warranty in the first place. It’s unacceptable service from such a prestigious brand. I would speak with a solicitor, apart from anything you still have consumer rights. @@FGGiskard Then that says more about the dealership, who we heard on the call suggesting to a customer that returning it to stock would revalidate his warranty. The cost of the car has everything to do with it, if I spend 350k on a brand like Ferrari then I expect the best customer service to match the brand. If they are as protective of their brand as you suggest then they should also be protective of their customers. To suggest if you want to modify a car go and buy a Lambo is pretentious and suggests to me that you are a Ferrari owner or a purist. Forget everything. If you buy a product under the consumer act, if that product is faulty then they are required by law to repair or replace it. If a solicitor took them to court they would lose. They would have to diagnose the problem, fix it to prove it and then show that the modification s were the cause. a point about an exhaust mod because it serves one of two purposes...exhaust note tuning and less back pressure ...usually stock exhausts are more restrictive...and aftermarket ones are less restrictive ...however Ferrari engines are probably running higher compression and therefore the air fuel ratio is very finely tuned taking into account many variables ...so it is actually possible that the engine with less restrictive exhaust runs lean or less fuel than air and that's not good for the engine (ie can blow it) but i'm sure Novitec tested their exhaust that the Ferrari cpu can balance the air fuel mixture appropriately ...the O2 sensor might be faulty as well but they can get gummed up if running rich, not lean ...so just saying mods of any kind to such a finely tuned performance vehicle should be done carefully as well

This is 100% what the law states too. For them to legally be able to void your warentee for a modification, they have to be able to proove the modifications were the cause of the underlying issues a warentee is even refused for (and not even voided entirely for, although the same law applies)!

@@yeahyeah4433 Companies can litterally write anything in a warentee/contract, they could write that if you buy the product, they own your family in a warentee, it doesn't make it a legal contractual obligation though. The law as written supercedes any written contract if the contract does not adhere to what is outlined in law, and although they might write it, it wouldn't stand up should anyone actually challenge it in a court of law. The issue is very few are challenging it, so they are getting away with unlawful practices. We are talking about consumer RIGHTs, you cannot waive a right by signing a contract, you can only waive a "privilege". For example if they offer a bonus of free petoral (gas) for a year, this is a privilege you can waive as there's no right in law covering it (like the law covers the repairs themselves). If you consequently signed a contract stating you give up the free petrol (gas) for extend warentee it would be legal, as there's no law protecting it and the free petoral/gas was a privilege they had given you. But when it comes to the actual warentee repairs themselves there's a bunch of rights a consumer has, and anything to the contrary written in the contract would not stand up in court and there are specific consumer rights laws covering modification and wareentee repairs that these warentee contracts we are talking about ignore.

@@yeahyeah4433 To a certain extent yes, but when the terms contradict law, the law is what will be followed by a contract law court... and the law is very clear on it's standing about car modifications needing to be the direct cause of the damage for there to be a legitimate refusal of repairs under warrantee for modifications. The relevant laws are in the US "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act 1975" and in the EU/UK the "EU block exemption regulation June 2010". It's very clear what the law is and what it sets out to achieve etc. but it's a civil issue, not a criminal one, so people have to sue the company to get anyone to actually act, and many either do not know they can, or more often can't afford to, are unwilling to because they will have to pay a boat load for lawyers/solicitors over a repair bill. It's often more appealing to just eat the repair bill as it's generally much cheaper than a lawsuit.
