We demo the Cornerstone Gladio Double Preamp, Neunaber Inspire Tri Chorus Plus, Walrus Slö Reverb and Aclam Dr Robert Overdrive guitar effects pedals.
Welcome to Pedal Jams, where we feature four guitar effects pedals that are new (well, new to us anyway).
Our agenda is purely to plug them in, see what cool sounds and features we find. We also jam at the end over a backing track.
Life too short for long RU-vid videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.
Enjoy the episode!

I owned the gladio and it's a wonderful pedal but I have a Holy Grail dual Drive that completely demolished it. And if you're into metal you gotta do yourself a favor and try Triton lab Caravan. I have a tight Metal Pro a Weehbo bastard and the Caravan completely demolished both pedals. I was absolutely stunned the Caravan is $160 and the Dual Drive is 274. It's a no-brainer dude you'll thank me

Most people don´t understand the Jazz/Rock switch on a ODS style circuit. They usually dial in a sound in Rock mode, then they switch to Jazz mode and seem to be dissapointed, because the sound now is duller and has less gain. The switch reconfigures the tonestack. In Rock mode it´s very interactive. For example the Mid control will have almost no impact as long as the Bass control is below 4. When Jazz mode is active the tonestack controls work more like an EQ on a mixing console, fully independent from each other. A good sounding setting is Bass on 4, Mid on 7 and Treble 7-8. So just flipping the switch won´t do the job. You also have to readjust the controls. However because on the Gladio pedal there´s just a Tone knob, I assume that the Jazz/Rock doesn´t work in the same way as on the amp or e.g. the Customtones Ethos.

I haven’t bought an overdrive pedal in years, nay, decades probably. I’ve owned an Fuchs ODS briefly and had a taste of that mythical “Dumble” sound. Never impulsively preordered a pedal after only one listen on your, admittedly, fine YT channel. But here I am just blown away at how wonderful the Gladio sounds. I’ve been getting my overdrives and distortions from my amps - JVM Satch 410 and and a Mesa Boogie Filmore 50 head - but they’ve both got wonderful clean channels. Long story short....preorder is in for the Gladio 😎

I use the Dr. Robert as an always-on preamp. With the internal bass & treble at factory settings (Noon) it adds high end sparkle while shelving off a bit of bass. Kinda like a Klon(e) but with adjustable mids and a sharper voice. To my ears the Mach Schau! option sounds a lot like the Distortion Booster in higher-end Thomas Organ solid state Vox amps. Which is to say: really good! Don’t expect AC15/30 sounds…this is a different but IMO equally worthy thing. (I have a 1960 AC15 Twin. The Dr. Robert works great with it.) Now that Gladio gizmo…to quote George Takei: Oh, my!

I just want to say thank you to you both. I had hung my guitar up a few years ago, but whilst on RU-vid killing time I came across your channel and watched a few of your videos, your delay pedal video was brilliant and led me to understand that I hadn’t liked delay because I prefer analog delay compared to digital. So I purchased an analogue delay pedal and a fuzz pedal as a result of your in-depth delightful videos and I’m making a joyful noise playing guitar again. For anybody interested in 2023: the Gladio v2.1, the one you'll find most easily, does indeed render the two channels more similar - left is fatter, right is more biting, neither is high gain on its own - BUT! There's a dipswitch inside the pedal, roughly underneath the right footswitch, that will return ch.2 to its original voicing by adding in a set of clipping diodes. In short: you can have two differently-voiced mid-gain channels that stack into a great overdrive tone, or you can have the more rounded-off mid-gain channel plus a great, fat, compressed higher-gain overdrive that stacks into a really REALLY great thick OD/distortion. And when you're using the v1 settings, you can also get some great results by turning the compression off on ch.1, because ch.2 will be plenty compressed for your sustain, gain, and EQ needs.

"Revolver" is probably my favourite Beatles album. It's the one I grew up on (Mum had a cassette, played it constantly). I wish I'd known that I should have been yelling "make a show!" at her. These pedals are all amazing and I need a Slo and a Doctor Robot. I thought I needed big, fancy, multi-function pedals (you gots your Big Sky, Ventris, Specular Tempus etc) but what I really want are just a few excellent, small-format pedals that do a few things extremely well and have names that apply to me. So, I need a Slo (because I'm lazy and lethargic), Dr. Robert (I am always at the Doctors) and Way Huge needs to make a "Not-So Swollen Pickle Anymore" and an "Arthritis Drive". I'm getting on. It's a thing.

Cheers guys, terrific episode. The rock/jazz switch demo by Dan was gold, as was his jam at the end, inspiring stuff. Just to add, the Tri-Chorus sound is a little different and more 'obvious' than Dimension D, much used by Michael Landau in the eighties. Have a lovely day y'all. :)

Great show as always! But that Slo was calling out for the EOB strat, the only reason why I can think that you didn’t use it is because you didn’t want to cause a tear in the space time continuum. Also there needs to be a loop made of Mick doing wave impressions

Nice to see that you as well as I need a few meters to make an ambient reverb usable for you. I love the Slö pedal. Stefan Fast / The Pedal Zone and/or Andy Othling should be on your invitation list.

Here's a fun "stupid use of a reverb" trick: I own a Slö and turn the octave down all the way off... That algorithm is the least "dreamy" and so set subtly this works great as an always-on reverb. (Reminds me of the Dispatch Master.)

YES :) Finally some Gladio action! I always had a whole bunch of ODs on my pedalboard (and still kind of have), but the amount of time I spend on just the Gladio during gigs since i got it on the board is just ridiculous. The left hand side has a "never want to turn it off" feel to it...

Dumble is in the air. I just got a Bob Burt Overdrive pedal with a built in compressor switch. It has a nice Dumble type shape with harmonic over tones. Cool pedal.
