Hi Guys! This is full test and review of enlarged version of Cr10 called Cr10 S4 with huge print volume of 400x400x400mm. This 3D printer height almost 20KG and it has rock solid metal frame, very robust construction. This video includes: Unboxing, assembling, hardware overview, time laps printing, detailed look at test prints( 760% scaled up 3D benchy) and closer look at inside components and many more.
It's got to point that the latest version of CURA now supports Creality Cr10 3D printers directly in the printer many, so printer setup was never been so easy. Big thanks to the CURA team! Now in less then one minute CURA slicing software can be configured to run Cr10, Cr10S ,Cr10s4 or Cr10S5 and you got even decent printing profiles which is awesome! If you are looking for good and reliable large scale 3D printer with affordable price Cr10S4 is a good choice. To get one for yourself check the links below:

So is the CR10S the same as the CR10S4 just a smaller version? I don't plan on making anything huge so how do they compare? Again the terminology I need to learn because if I have an issue I don't know how or what adjust to fix. Can you speak on that so we (I) can learn if this happens in a print adjust this, but if this happens to adjust that? That's what I need to know how to make adjustments to get the perfect print like you have. Also, do they come with both nozzles? Great Vid thank you

Hey. Got it assembled and working. Compared to expectations, it was a nightmare, and I wouldn´t recommend it to any newbie. Bent hot end assy, impossible to home the X axis to the end-stop, as the bottom wheel screw and nut blocked it, so had to drop the hot end, belt, everything, make the screw and nut shorter, and reassemble. Anyway Now, before advanced upgades, it printed 3D benchy without infill, without retractions and no tuning, quite well. Like 98% of the well tuned Original Prusa i3 MK3! I´m getting excited to get it upgraded and tuned!

Hey, great job on the review, very well made. After starting a 3DPrinting Business a few weeks ago, I am now looking to expand my ventures towards starting a youtube channel also. I really take inspiration from your videos and have a close look at how you do things. I would really love to maybe ask you one or two things in the future about starting this kind of a youtube channel. I currently own an Anet A8 converted to an AM8, a Startt, an Mk2 with Multimaterial and am waiting for 3 printers to come right now which would be the Anycubic Kossel Linear Plus, CR-10 Mini and the Prusa Mk3. I am planning to make videos on all of those, but wanna first get some inspiration to not mess them up completely. keep up the great work, you developed great. the first video I saw from you was last december and it was about your anet a8 mods ;D would love to have a talk with you some times ;D

Hello, I have a Creality CR-10 with dual z axis motors. The z axis goes up and down when homing but will not go up when printing. Is it the machine or am i doing something wrong in Cura ?
@NexiTech
@NexiTech 3 года назад
That's very strange. Try to check or replace your SD card and printer settings in CURA. If printer is moving Z axis normally when homing then it could be somethig with G codes or bad micro SD card. Also try to move Z axis by manual using the printer interface. Also try to slice another 3d model as well.

I see what happened, before you start the down load they make you fill out a list of things like what you will be using the program for and so on , and on that pre down load list there is no CR-10 printers, but once you do the down load and set up CURA for your printer there is. Did you notice the strange things going on in the QUALITY setting's. The top setting is EXTRA FINE 0.06 then FINE 0.2 "WTF" then LOW QUALITY 0.15 "WTF" then DRAFT 0.2, Some strange things going on there. Have not tried the setting yet so it might just be a type O.

If you double the nozzle size, you don't double the filament usage, you actually quadruple the filament usage (the circle area), and print much more than double faster (depending on the printer ability with respect of temperature/speed .. it will probably not be a quadruple speed since it still needs some time to melt the plastic.., but will for sure be more than double faster), because the area for circle with 0.4 mm diameter is ~0.126 mm^2 (A = Pi x r^2), and the area for circle with 0.8 mm diameter is ~0.503 mm^2. - Great review though! Thanks for sharing.

Rohan 67 Hi and welcome. Corrupted STL files? That's very rare. I never personally had corrupted STL file and I have hundreds and hundreds of STL files on my PC more then 80% are downloaded from Thingiverse website. On some STL files 3D builder(3D program in Windows 10) found some geometry errors in 3D model and program fix them by itssel, but other then that I never had corrupted STL file. Are you sure you don't have problem with your PC? Maybe spyware, malware or virus? Or some register problems? None of files on your PC should be corrupted. I got this same S4 printer and have been happy with it. I insulated the heat bed and could get 91C degrees in a ~2h testprint session. Asking temp was 100C. pro-ht.mbnet.fi/3d_print/cr-10-s4/cr-10-s4_bed_heat_insulation.jpg Small ABS parts seems to print out pretty good, but bigger ones would need more bed temp, or a closed enclosure for the whole printer to reduce warping.

Is it better to print straight onto glass , or use tape ?
@NexiTech
@NexiTech 6 лет назад
I like to use glass, it leaves very smooth and mirror look on bottom surface. But keep in mind you will need some adhesive to prevent warping. You can use glue stick,hairspray etc. I like to use AprintaFIX spray. It leaves no marks on the printing surface and if you spray it once you can print several times before you need too apply it again. And just to mention its holding very strong print in place but in the same time its not hard to remove print from build plate. There is link in video description for AprintaFIX check it out and read all info about. Cheers!

So why does my creality cr10s prints abs fine i print out to max volume printing boat hulls for my rc models had no shrinkage or bed problems got my bed up to 90 as long as you put a box over it it prints fine in abs and as long as you dont print in a cold garage i use my back bedroom at a temp of 75 so yes you can print abs thats all i use,ive never even tried pla because of its low melting point ans strength issues on my creality cr10s .

@NexiTech

Cr10 S Pro( now V2) or Cr10 V2 can print parts with nice and smooth surface thanks to the latest motherboard and steper drivers. Of course if you looking for superb print quality then you can go with resin 3D printers like Anycubic Photon(small) or Frozen transform(Big one). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d2oD4lktOT4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tsy8jFeqgco.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5YrUQOYLoK0.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qOSzC3-VrJk.html

You forgot about one more test! Does the boat swim? :D PS. which material is the strongest (if I print a helmet and drop it) and which one gives the best details? Or maybe there is some material that combines the two qualities, strength and details? CHEERS ^^

Pwiest Playing Never tried it until now. Special test just for you. drive.google.com/folderview?id=1RsTGtuvn2FZbATfxUgtBAIv1xgsLj2XA Is the side ways floating counts? :D The strongest filament would be Nylon but it's very hard to print especially a that size as it likes to wrap just like ABS. Easiest to print but still strong and elastic to some sort to survives impact like that would be PETG. I use PETG from Aprinta pro and it's very good. Check Aprinta shop from video description and choose PETG. don't buy PETG with some sort of mix like carbon fiber and similar those added particles just makes filament way less strong compare to based material. Just Get regular PETG instead.

huh? 16:06 cannot print ABS. please explain. in the controller display also was preheat ABS written. (maybe because thats written in al marlin type controllers) but why cant this printer handle ABS? it's got a heated bed. great review btw. thumb-up!
@NexiTech
@NexiTech 6 лет назад
It's because it can reach only 61 degrades on heated bed. For ABS you need At least 100 degrades for good prints. ABS is well known for warping issues.

too sweet to be true your presentation. Following your video I bought 4s and I have only troubles so far... 1. at the 4 corners my calibration is perfect, but at the middle not! Hence the glass is bended 2. cr-10 s4 starts printing from its 0 no matter where my model is positioned in cura (yes I have selected "Origin at center") I don't recommend buying this machine for professional work..
@NexiTech
@NexiTech 6 лет назад
addk3 Glass can't be bend that easy. It's more luckily aluminium plate that bended/bow in center and then when it's cold/worm during its massive size it varies. Some S4 Heated bad comes like that from factory and some users has reported that. Mine S4 heated bed was OK. Maybe I can help. Solutions: Try to use Vacuum for glass in centre to bend plate up in short pull burst. Or place something in middle (Like paperblock) and then screw down adjusting screws to bend the plate back. Make sure that you heatup plate before doing so. Or If you don't use Max build size all the time you can level it in middle of plate instead of on the corners. Or you can use BRIM option in Cura 2. Origin in center shouldn't be selected.

I could really use your help!!! Would you please reply to my comment. I've posted this same comment, on several 3d reviewers, on their youtube page, and none have responded. I'd like to make a decision, in the next 2 days. I wonder, if you think a CR10s is a good choice to print a quality working prototype. I need the prototype to show people that my 3d printed machine works. I'm in hopes that the CR10s is capable of turning out a quality prototype using PLA. How does the CR10s quality compare to an Ultimaker printer? I'm planning on getting an Ultimaker S5 at a later date. Any and all help will be appreciated! Thanks , Gary

"when you double the size of the nozzle, you also double the use of filament" ... er, no. Do the math: with A=r^2*pi you quadruple the surface and the use of plastic, depending on the wall thickness of course.
@SH-pc4xt
@SH-pc4xt 4 года назад
True, per unit length of extruded filament, if you double nozzle opening from 0.4 to 0.8mm, you will quadruple the volume of filament (same length, 4 x the cross-sectional area). But, as you note you have to consider wall thickness. Plus you have to consider layer height. Nominally layer height doubles, so number of layers is ~halved. So that means overall consumption is probably increased to somewhere between 2-3x.

I don't understand why it's so much more expensive than the 10s.
@NexiTech
@NexiTech 6 лет назад
siemensohm Because it's bigger. Cr10S has built volume of 300x300x400mm and Cr10 S4 has 400x400x400mm. Maybe on papper its not that much but in real life that's huge difference in print size.
@siemensohm
@siemensohm 6 лет назад
Thank you very much for your answer, but that's still no explanation in my eyes. The major parts are the same and a bigger heat bed and shafts etc. can't explain the current price difference of 290€ at gearbest. However, thank you for your informative videos.... :)

+oki doki That's not the point. What's the difference between cr10s and s4 regarding the used components of the printer? Answer that for yourself and ask yourself whether those bigger parts are worth a premium of 50% compared to cr10s...
