2 days ago I changed a lot of thing of my Ender 3 (changed the motherboard to 4.2.7, added an extra z axis and installed a Sprite Pro). I was following your videos all along. Thank you so much! Best regards from Chile ;)

Another Creality, wonderful. Rather than releasing so many printers, how about they actually focus on building one that actually implements of a wide array of new changes. We don't need new printers every other month - we need robust printers that work reliably, consistently, and without having to upgrade or fix them every other day.

Thanks for the in depth review. I pre-ordered this in the first wave hoping the increased speed at a decent price would give me some printing capacity breathing room before I order another X1-C. Looking forward to getting it hopefully soon.

Possibly changing the standard deviation in the slicer May remove the blobs in case mode. May not be keeping up with the moves as they appear on the tight internal corners.

12:57 I have experienced this as well. I came across a post once where someone mentioned something interesting about this. The Ender 3 v2 neo or the ender 5 s1 come with a power loss recovery setting which create these bubbles. The thing here is that at the very moment when the printer is saving the location where it is, in case of power loss, it stops for a small fraction of a millisecond.. this causes the extruder to push a bit more filament out of the nozzle than you would expect... you can turn it off by adding M413 S0 ;Turn-off Powerloss Recovery to the gcode.

Great video. What print speed do yo usually use for PLA on this printer? Would you say its a good idea to use 250mm for infill and support or is it just to fast? Lets say i have outer wall speed to 120 :)
@KennethScharf
@KennethScharf Год назад
Replace the build surface with one from Wham Bamm. Their PEX build surface holds PETG well, and also PLA (if you use a small enough initial layer value). Once the bed cools, the parts just about fall off, and you can flex the metal sheet if necessary. The magnetic surface that the printer comes with (unless it has the spring clips) will work with the Wham Bamm build plate, or you can swap it out for the one that comes with the Wham Bamm kit if you need to go over 80C on the bed temp. I don't work for, or have any connection with Whamm Bamm, just a happy customer.

Those imperfections in vase mode look like random generated seam positions. Try to line up those seams on the back or use the "aligned" method. I used the Creality slicer for my Ender 3 S1, and was not overly impressed by the results. I then used the Prusa slicer (with the Ender 3 S1 profile), and got almost perfect results (and better than the gcode models on the Creality stick). So my advise is to check your seam settings and use another slicer. I don't know if there is already an Ender 5 S1 profile available somewhere. And indeed - That Powerloss Recovery is not doing any favors here.
@OhFishyFish

Vase mode does not have a seam, the entire model is printed as a continuous wall.

I like the Ender 5 S1 that I purchased on sale for $150 off. There are a few things I don't like though. I would have preferred a true Marlin firmware. Also, the firmware does not have a way to load and unload the filament. I installed a enclosure and unload the firmware is difficult without removing the top. I ended up setting up a raspberry pi with octoprint. It should make it easier and octoprint allows me to load and unload the filament.

What does the wheel do on the top of the extruder next to where you loaded the filament? I don't know if it is the reason I turned the wheel, but my auto-leveling wasn't working correctly since I bought the device. I turned the wheel on accident and thought that was how I was supposed to load the filament.

So in your opinion, would you say Ender 3 s1 pro or 5 s1??
@Happy3dprinting
@Happy3dprinting Год назад
Great review as always. I am disappointed in this printer as an upgrade to the 5 pro. Why they redesigned the sprite extruder to extend the filament path within the extruder does not make sense. It would also have been better to have dual z screws and get rid of the support brackets. This is a missed opportunity by Creality to really improve the 5 series printers. I don’t have a 5 pro but I have several 5 plus printers all upgraded with octopus v1.1 boards, and either a Biqu h2 v2 or e3d hemera xs extruders with independent dual z access control with klipper installed. Come on Creality pick up your game, you have a superb extruder in the sprite as I have on my ender 3 s1, why fix something that isn’t broken. If Creality are looking to produce an ender 5 s1 plus, I would rather buy the old unit and upgrade myself as you end up with a printing monster that just keeps pumping out great prints. I would like to see what adding the Creality sonic pad would do to improve this printer!

I got this printer for Christmas and it hasn't been printing correctly. I have watched probably 15 different videos on this printer and none of them seemed to work. The problem is that after a few minutes and flawless printing, it will just randomly break the print off of the base and move it around forcing me to stop it and restart it. I tried to print the boat three times and each time it got farther. The first time it got just the base, second was the lower and upper deck, and the third got all the way up to the roof and then broke. I have no clue what to do. I'm new to 3d printers, never touched one until two days ago. I'm thinking it might be the z-axis height, speed, and maybe the bed heat. I have the z-axis at 0.30 and that got the farthest. Speed is at 100%. Bed heat is at 60. I'm thinking that if I lower the speed, up the z-axis to 0.35 or 0.40, and make the bed heat a bit hotter it would work. Everything is correctly leveled. I'm thinking the bed heat has to be hotter that way it will stick better. Speed lowered that way it will be able to print more efficient. The reason I think I have to up the z-axis is because the nozzle is touching the print while laying the Filament. I don't know. If you could give me a suggestion on what to do I would really appreciate it :D. This video did help me understand some of the settings, so thank you. Sorry for the long comment.

Im in the market for buying a third Ender 5 Plus but have been holding off in the hope of an Ender 5 S1 Plus being released although I secretly hope Sovol do their thing with the Ender 5 Plus as I just know that would be a better machine and price, also I know I would have a lot less money to have to spend on upgrades with a Sovol machine!

Hi Andrew. I'm thinking that if Sovol does their version of an Ender-5 Plus, it'll be cheaper than the Creality version, and will still be a good, solid machine. But I don't know if they're moving that direction or not. Honestly the Sovol cube SV-05 was kind of unexpected. Why do it after all these years of the Ender-5? But they did it, and it's not a bad printer.

If you buy this printer, get it from, Amazon. Lots of people on forums having issues with Creality using the first buyers as beta testers. I sent this printer back after a day because of bad ringing, non-standard nozzle size, and auto-level not working at all and creating random z-height values every time it self levels. I went with the SV-05 instead. Ender 5 S1 requires klipper if you want good prints out of it.

Funny. I'm running my Ender 3-ish at 3000 accel. Bet Klipper would boost yours up a bit. It'd lose the screen though. RAR format? That's a blast from the past. RAR was great for multi-part archives. How can it print at 250mm/s if a 50min benchy has cooling issues. Dual 5015s would be a marginal start. Sounds like another just-missed-the-mark offering from Creality.
@BV3D
@BV3D Год назад
Creality is supposed to be adding support for this printer into the Sonic Pad, so that could be a quick and easy way to Klipperize it, and at that point control would simply be from the Sonic Pad instead of the built-in screen. Yeah, it's funny about the RAR file. I feel like they had to go out of their way to even create it when they could have simply right-clicked the folder and zipped it.

Every single Creality printer has the issue with random pauses caused by power loss recovery and they still haven't addressed it. 99% of people don't even care about power recovery, I haven't had a single power cut in my ara in the past 5 years. 250mm printing speed seems unachievable anyway, what a waste of everyone's time this one is.

@josephpk4878 10 месяцев назад
It's a great printer, but don't think you're going to be printing out perfect layers at 250mms. The longer you run the 5 S1 at high speeds, the more mechanical wear it experiences and your layers will begin to vary and fail. I can count on 50-80mms, but anything beyond that will increase the imperfections and mechanical issues. Don't let that stop you from buying it, because once this printer is dialed in, it creates awesome prints at pretty good speeds.
