4th gen were absolutely the best year some people don't understand proud owner here

I like 3rd gen's better, only because of how far back the engine sits in in the 4th gens in the bay and how the firewall and cowl is right there makes it a bit more of a pain in the ass to work on there isn't a whole lot of room compared to the older ones. Other than that they are good.

I bought my 95 3.4 l brand new. I was 19 at the time and couldn't afford the insurance on the Z28 and the 3.8 RS wasn't out yet so I bought the 3.4. There is no other car that looks like a 4th gen Camaro. Back in the late 90's there weren't many after market upgrades available, but now I see there are quite a few. I was thinking about upgrading the suspension and brakes so I can rip around country roads. I think the v6's handle better because they are lighter in the front than the v8s. Today it looks brand new but there is a bolt that stripped out on the transmission.

I found a love for 4th gens 3 years ago when my buddy got rid of his 93 v6 and got a 99 z28 with the T tops. Now if you really know these cars you'll know that the chameleon green was a rare color and that's what it was. He got into an accident and got the front fenders, front bumper and the hood all fiberglass and got a 2 1/2 inch cowl hood scoop. He's right about how it's just modern enough to throw cool shit into but still old enough to be considered "mullet muscle". I like 98+ ones they did, the 93-97 really needed a facelift
@cali2468
@cali2468 5 лет назад
@@GnarshredProductions So the limited engine space in the 4th gens is the reason why you like the 3rd gens better? Ok. But the engine that sits in that tight space is wayyy better than that TPI in the 3rd gen.

I had both 4th and 5th gen SS cars, a '98 and a '12, just sold the 2012 and kept the '98. The 4th gens are by far the better car to live with. I never did warm up to the 5th gen and actually came to hate it. The 4th gens are the perfect balance between old muscle car and modern sports car.

Steve Sabino My LT1 was pumping out 296rwhp and 330tq to the wheels, this was with long tubes, cai, electric water pump and tuning. It ran great, I even beat a few C5's at the drag strip. I just decided to build a forged motor and at the time ported ls3 heads were 1300 new. It was the 350cfm heads that made me look into the swap. I was running nitrous on my lt1 and made 430rwhp and 570rwtq spraying. It was a lot of fun. We had a dyno day with a local car club and my car on spray put down more torque than a buddies bolt on n tuned turbo diesel!

I can’t agree more. I have been loving mine since I took possession of it in 1998. Mine was leased to someone who drove it for a year then I bought it. It’s been great to me through all these years. I put 325,000km on it and only went through one clutch, one opti-spark distributor and one water pump. It’s been very good to me and reliable as hell. Mine is black on black leather with T-roofs, a/c (of course) 6 speed stick ( again of course!) and has never been smoked in. I’d love to upgrade to an LS upgrade but with having its history all documented and it being the last V8 iron block I think I’ll just keep it’s vintage and heritage intact. Thanks for your time Rick and your great video. I should be out of this hospital bed next week so I will send you a few pictures. Again, thanks for such an entertaining video. Damn, you sure can drive that thing!

I own a '97 t-top edition despite having the 3.8 V6 it runs great for having 181 thousand miles on the clock. Bought it used in 2003, i tossed the stock cat for a flowmaster hi flow convertor then added their american thunder cat back exhaust definitely helped in sound & performance. Then added MSD coil paks with their 8.5mm ignition wires. Being a automatic changed the tranny oil & went with Royal Purple Max ATF 4which i've used in this 'bird since '03 stuff is good. Changed the rear gear oil too also Royal Purple 75W90 oil. Gear ratio is 3.23 factory. Decent gears for a sometimes daily driver. Tied the sub frame with them frame connectors it's amazing just how much frame twist there is in these cars camaro/bird!!

The 3.8 was a great engine! I used to have a 92 with a 3.1 I wish I still had it. with all the room in the front there is plenty of room for a turbo! I love T-top cars also. Subframes were one of my first mods too. Sounds like you have yours under control. Keep at it!

I had a 3rd gen which was ok but it had only a 305. I ended up selling it because I didnt have the money to fix it up. I bought a 98 z28 with the sport package and its been great for over 15 years. The car handles great even with a solid rear axle the suspension was set up well and maintains control when going fast. I was thinking of putting a turbo kit on it and its easy 700 hp. Still it would cost money but for the money you get a crazy fast car. I'm still holding off now it since the economy is having issues right now.

Super fun car to drive but a damn nightmare to drive in the snow or ice in fact I strongly suggest to pull over immediately if your driving and come into an area where it's snowing because when they start skidding they keep skidding till something outside stops them and no it's not your superb driving abilities that stopped you that time it was luck

I did the same on an LS swapped 74 Vette a few years ago. I used the stock radiator and dual fans. Even in 100* temps it kept the car cool. Also used the fbody clutch master on it as well. When it comes to swaps the fbody oil pan is popular also. They are getting harder to find in junk yards around here tho.

They were awesome and I loosly say this "modular" enough that there is a tone of aftermarket support so if something goes wrong, you can fix it. Also as he said, they are just modern enough they come with everything you need and ALSO to add onto them, they dont come with any of the bullshit tech now a days. Perks of older Fbodies, there is no O2 sensor behind the cat.

@@CamaroRick yeah that is easy in America ! 😁 But heare i need for example oil for the engine and transmission, and spark plugs. Oil i can get, the manual say Dexron 3 for transmission, for example, but spark plugs they said well you have to bring them to the shop so that they can take a look at them and if they dont have it, at least to get some aftermarket spark plugs that fit, because it has missfires. I hope is just the spark plugs 😁. Other then that, i love the old american muscle ! Even If it's a V6 for now. Only 72.000 miles. When it whould be ready, repaint, wheels, exhaust, i will make a video. PS : You are the first one that reeplayes !

I got a 2010 Mustang GT but looking at z28 Camaros in Craigslist.. They were my favorite cars when I was in high school.. Im looking at clean mid 90s LT1 Camaros.. They run about 3500 to 6000 bucks in my state.. The LS1s are ridiculously expensive... They run for 9000 as high as 15000 in my state... I absolutely cannot justify paying that price for a 90s car... I can pick up a 2010 Camaro for about the same price as some of these LS1s.. Hell, my 2010 GT was only 12,000... I've had it for 4 years and its been bulletproof... Not 1 repair.. Just basic maintenance.. I'm expecting the Camaro to be a money pit... But I still want one to tinker with... I spotted a dark green z28 on Craigslist for 6,000.. It has 80k miles on it.. No mods.. That one is leading the pack as far as the one I want to buy... Excellent condition from what the ad states and what I see in the pics.. Im still weary about the reliability of buying a Chevy that old... I've beaten a Camaro SS in my first Mustang GT which was an 07 model.. I had some mods done to my car.. We stayed dead even thru 1st and 2nd.. When I hit 3rd, I started pulling away... Thats when I became a Ford guy... His car was twice as loud as my Mustang... My 07 GT was legendary... It was also bulletproof.. I ran from the police in that car doing 160+ mph with my headlights off.. I just can't seem to break these cars.. I also have an 08 Police Interceptor Crown Vic that is a rolling tank... It refuses to break too... But I want one of those Camaros so bad.. It was my dream car in high school and the 1st muscle car I ever been in...

I just bought my first 4th gen and I’m so disappointed. The opti is killing me! It’s a 95 Z28 6-speed hard top just like yours and I’m about ready to have it crushed! What all is involved in an LS swap? My big question is, will my gauges still work afterwards?
@CamaroRick
@CamaroRick 5 лет назад
Been there! The Fbody Opti is actually not that bad to do, odd tools you will need is a puller for the dampener and a longer bolt to help the install. As far as an LS swap it all bolts in place you have to repin your harness and adapt a few wires for the starter. I used my original fuse box for power feeds and the original junction block on the passenger side. The LS PCM has to be tuned to scale the rpm output for the LT1 gauges but other than that everything works like normal. Mine still has the vats programmed to my original key. Hardest part was matching up the different harnesses. My car came with an OBD 2 port but ran on obd1. Not sure if thats how yours is too but I am able to tune it through my original port just like factory. The LS Fbody pcm hold down is a direct swap also.
