DD15 with low oil pressure is just the beginning, then things go from bad to worse.

2015 Freightliner Cascadia with a DD15, problem first started with low oil pressure. Customer replaced the oil pressure sensor but the problems continued. The truck was towed to our shop, first started with draining the oil, removing the oil pan and inspecting the oil suction module and oil pump.
The problems then continued from there, did eventually find a coolant was leaking into the oil. This a liner seal that is starting to fail, with the engine having over 950K miles. An engine over haul will definitely be recommended.

I knew that oil suction manifold was a problem. Changed it at 550k. I'm at 932k now, oil changes every 20k. Going strong still. Money already saved for a new engine.

@@adolphushardy5186 I believe the 2009-2011 use the old style which is metal and plastic combination. They switched to the all plastic shortly after. I recommend to have them replaced, I have come across a few 2015 that have had issues with the original oil suction manifold. Think of it as preventative maintenance. The oil pump itself is reliable.

Me and my dad were in Winchester Va with his 15 dd15. Seen white smoke, oil pressure sensor light came on then oil pressure. Turn it off. Check the oil then try to get out of the blind spot. Then hear a grind and a squeak three times then no power. She seized up.

Do you recommend getting and in frame or swapping it for a reman?
@CarlosDieselElectric
@CarlosDieselElectric 2 года назад
A factory reman is a great way to go. 1 year warranty with unlimited miles on a long block. There are other reman options depending on how complete you want it which means more $$$$ An inframe isn’t bad, but if you can go with an overhaul where the block is completely torn down and rebuilt. It should also have a warranty but how long depends on who is doing the rebuild. Just depends on how much you are willing to spend You can save some money with an overhaul but it may take more time.

@@einstein7526 if the oil pressure switch or sensor has been replaced, then I would lean towards pump or oil suction module. But first, try using a manual pressure gauge and see what the pressure is. Could be the module, oil pump or MCM. Try the manual gauge first.

How likely is it for everything to be okay, after changing all 5 o-rings. Starting the engine without priming the oil? Seems like it could be done by jumping the starter so that the starter runs without starting the engine for a few seconds to create some prime before starting. I'm asking because it's just not realistic that everyone is going to have that special fitting and a special pump to prime the engine oil.
@CarlosDieselElectric
@CarlosDieselElectric 5 месяцев назад
It’s a chance you take when you don’t prime the system. Best you can do is prime the oil filter by submerging it in motor oil and letting it soak up as much oil as possible before you install it. I know a few that do it without priming the system and have had good success. Make sure your fuel system does take too long to start. So try pumping and use the little pump to help ensure it fires up right away.

the dd15 is bad about cracking liners after 900000 miles once it hits 900000 get rid of it or rebuild it because it will leave you by the road believe you me I know had one with 950000 on it running great when it cracked a liner
@CarlosDieselElectric
@CarlosDieselElectric 10 месяцев назад
Cracked liner is usually heat related. Oil pressure, piston cooling nozzle, injectors might be over fueling, Unfortunately most trucks are not built like they were. More maintenance is required which means injector replacement and even replacing the oil suction module. Some components don’t last 1,000,000 miles.
