The Ghostface effect: •People complain about how annoying a chase theme sounds •The devs change it •Ppl still complain and suddenly start loving the old theme
@iqbaalannaafi4944 chase music isn't supposed to be beautiful and engaging, it's supposed to be unnerving and panic-inducing. You only hear what you want to hear, I could argue the live version sounds like a washing machine for example but I won't because I don't choose to hear that.
No for real. PTB comes out, and everyone absolutely hates the chase theme, so BHVR listens and changes the theme, only for everyone to argue "the old one was better bruh, this is horrible". DBD community in a nutshell.
Imo Pyramid Head theme was the only one that was better on the PTB... man I just love it so much, the bell was a banger. The rest actually got better: Ghost Face, Demo, Skull Merchant, Oni (kinda), and maybe Singularity but I'm not sure, they both are kinda bad imo.
@capital_of_texas if 50% of people liked the ptb chase music and 50% didn't like it, then what do you think happens when they change it? The people who liked the old version are upset it was changed. They can never appease everyone. I personally love both but feel this one is too slow paced.
@@EnigmaticWendigo It wasn't really 50/50, it was a good majority of people complaining about it. Almost every comment section had the classic "washing machine" remark. That's why it's funny that once they change it, more people began to appreciate the original lol
i always like the noisy chase musics, ghostface's was perfect to me, but the comunity speaks louder ig... it's surprising how they haven't changed the trickster's chase music yet
I can't stress enough how epically terrifying it felt to run for the open gate with this music. It definitely made me feel like I was running for my life.
I'm absolutely blown away. I was expecting the same type of change we have been getting where the more irritating sounds are tuned down and that's it... but this is such a phenomenal re composition
It sounds very basic though… at least the last one had context and meaning to it, doing sound changes and stuff woulda been better and not to mention the TR layers suck too
@@sergioh6593 amen to that fact lmao. Seriously it’s just like the ghostface one where they coulda made it quieter, not every chase music has to be a freaking 30 second loop and basic instruments lmao
Every single chase I’ve had with it has felt so intense and extremely dramatic all thanks to the music, even if it was the second try. Another masterpiece to add to the collection.
It's generic trash, stop pretending it's good, you just wanted the loud one changed. They changed it so it's not loud but now it's generic garbage. Don't act like it's a masterpiece.
@@bigmac6750this one honestly sounds like something I’d expect to accompany Terminator (chase music wise) than Alien. It’s not bad but definitely doesn’t fit Alien I feel like
This theme actually does sound similar to music heard in the more recent Alien games, both Fireteam Elite and Dark Descent had similar music like this. I actually feel like this track is capturing that ascetic quite a bit here.
Each layer is so PERFECT. The chase theme really reminds me of the old Sci fi movies from back then around the Era when Alien was released. The layers before chase feel very cinematic and still Sci fi esque. This is PERFECT
I'm gonna be the judge of the two Chase musics: The ptb one concentrates more on the horror and annoying aspect of the Xenomorph, make you want to run for your life, adapt for playing as her. The second and live chase music is more focused on the action and wanting to fight the Xenomorph, adapt for playing against her. With this i want to say they are both very good chase musics but the real masterpiece of Micheal is this. Let's just love the osts for what they are and not for what they must be, It goes the same for us persons, we must achieve something and reach our goals but we must accept what we truly are
Good gravy, they copied Demogorgon's power AND Nurse's music!! Well, at least I can forgive the latter because as you said, it does sound much better here. This actually is perhaps one of my favorite themes recently. Dredge's is still my favorite but this is definitely *chef's kiss*.
This one is more tense and exciting than the PTB one. Also sounds more like Aliens, which makes it even better. The Nostromo alarm was a good idea but in play it was super annoying this sounds like you're being chased by a xenomorph, all you can do Is run and try to fight back but it will chase you. At least that's what I get from it.
The music itself is good but it lacks something that refers to the alien because it sounds like you're being chased by some monster from a generic horror movie
@@nathanalves3284 I really don't agree with that, it distinctly reminds me of Aliens. When I first heard it I thought" This is cool as hell, reminds me of Aliens." In my opinion it's already distinct because it's supposed to sound like the second film's score. You might say well it's based on the first alien, well you'd be right but the Queen alien is a skin and that doesn't appear in the first one.
@@nathanalves3284 Please, listen to the soundtrack of Aliens. Or better yet, watch Aliens! This music is a clear homage to James Horner's work on that film.
0:01 your alone on the ship in space trying to find a way out 0:58 you suddenly hear screaming 1:58 YOU START PANICKING WITH SWEAT AND TEARS FALLING 2:58 RUN FOR UR LIFE
Wish the the layer 4 was a little quicker paced, set the speed to 1.25 and it was much better but it is still a massive improvement on the ptb, well done BHVR. 👍 Edit: I just listened to the entire theme at a faster speed (1.25) and I think it all should be sped up a bit, it would make it more intense I find
The PTB one felt like it was more of a tribute to the Jerry Goldsmith score from the '79 film. This one is straight up a love letter to James Horner's Aliens score. Both chase songs are bangers in their own respective ways.
I think we have not, this is a significant downgrade from the PTB music which was actually intimidating, this just sounds like I’m in a slightly aggressive symphony
To everyone saying it sounds "generic"...I recommend you take a few hours and rewatch "Aliens". This is a direct and effective homage to James Horner's compositional style. Well done, Michael F. April.
The only problem with this music is how lacking in intensity it is, especially as killer it's just... boring. Music wise it's great, but gameplay wise it genuinely is underwhelming
That’s the problem. It’s taking inspiration from the wrong film. The Xeno and its role here is meant to be reminiscent of Alien. Not Aliens where the Xenos are killed on mass and the entire film is action packed. So going from Alien to Aliens seems counterintuitive
@@kaijuslayer3334 Well said. I can't fathom how anyone would think Aliens is the heart of the franchise when they removed the tension by adding waves of xenomorphs and killing them off. It's like the Dead Space 3 of the Alien franchise, catering to the action-combat wank at the time. Same for Terminator, it turned from horror into action/adventure.
@peek-a-boos Even more well said, I genuinely disliked Dead Space 3 for how they centered everything more around fighting than being afraid of what's lurking ahead and such-- they even changed the Stalker charge animation to the goofiest thing ever.
This one doesnt sound bad, but honestly i liked the ptb more, it made me felt more alert and scared, this one is pretty classic, its similar to other killers chase music.
You'll think I am trolling contrarian but I actually liked the old one better. All they needed to change was the last part to make less loud and monotonous.
I don't know why people are saying this is any better. It kind of sounds like an alternate version of the Nurses theme, and it's still just a short loop unmemorable loop which is the main criticism of all the modern chase themes.
@@SteveyTheEx-Eevee yeah I agree. don't get me wrong I thought the old theme was crap but I at least appreciated they were going for something with the alarm. this theme now could honestly go to any generic killer.
@@infectedpotato117 The music itself was fine, all they had to do was make it a tad quieter and make the loop longer. This new music is so insanely generic that I'd genuinely rather have the PTB version back over this.
@@SteveyTheEx-EeveeThis is the first time i've seen you say something sensible and i'm honestly surprised But yeah i agree. New one lacks the personality and otherwordly vibe the PTB one had.
@@SteveyTheEx-Eevee I'm pretty sure i tried doing exactly that in the past and you didn't cooperate at all. Or at least i vaguely remember us quarreling in steam over something dbd related and it was ugly. Dunno, been years by now. Also did you really just say "powertripping killer mains" and then chastise ME for supposedly villifying others..? To begin with you're the one mentioning killer players derrogatively and thus making this a "us vs them" thing. I ain't mention no side or balance issue. Suppose nothing's changed after all that time. Pity, i was hoping perhaps we could finally come to a civil agreement.
So it changed from washing machine sounds to yet another fully orchestrized ost. Much more pleasing to the ears, although it lost the Exo vibe it had...
I wish they kept they old one. The alarm was much more interesting. They should have adjusted it a bit more to make it less repetitive but nothing more.
All they needed to do was change the chase; The old terror radius was absolutely perfect and set an eerie and menacing tone, now the whole theme from the radius to the chase just sounds tropey and boring. The music isn't reminiscent of a literal alien chasing you anymore, it sounds like any old 80s or 90s horror movie theme
This is definitely better than the last one. The only criticism I have is the lack of the otherworldly feeling you got from the previous chase music. I wish they'd incorporated something spooky. Other than that it's soldif
i do like that they kept the weird sort of warbling noise and put it into layer 3, imo it keeps SOME of the vibe but definitely not as much as i would like
Yup sounds pretty good. But its incredibly quite in game and you cant hear like, half of the instruments. It is incredibly generic and could honestly fit any killer in the game with a couple exceptions. Idk why everyone is praising it I honestly thought this chase theme was a placeholder until he gets a new one
While I did like the old one because it felt more otherworldly and this one sounds more like generic slasher music, I have to admit the new chase music goes really well with the tail attack.
Layer 3 sounds similar to The one Reborn from bloodborne, i can't be the only one who's noticed that, right? Either way, this entired soundtrack sounds AWESOME The chase part sounds legitimately scary, like you're being chased by an apex predator, and all you can do is run, and hope someone else gets it's attention
