This video is about A dent I call Deep Blue, deceptively deep dent, all kinds of interesting complications fun challenge. Little tolecut to finish. This kind of Dent I can use to illustrate why soft tips and glue pulls aren’t always the answer. Hopefully this sheds some light on why. PDR training to a new level!

Absolutely love that you showed the push marks. Other videos make you think that they glassed it without sanding and we all know that's not always possible. One of the best videos online right now I would say.

Thanks man! My partners and I Decided on the new name because we wanted to show what this job, and what this industry are really like. Acting like Gods that never make mistakes doesn’t really help. Seeing how we screw up and fix the issue will give people confidence who eventually make the same mistake. We may not look as cool, but we hope it helps people get better faster!

Holy cow, as a dent tech myself I am really liking your content, your thought process working through a repair most of us just do it and don't think about what we are doing, we just do it. So it is nice to kind of look over what is happening and what we would do in those circumstances. Man, you are doing some great stuff, much respect brother.

How hot do you heat the metal ?

So using the tolecut was just basically refining the actual surface of the paint. The small little amount or creases or texture in the metal must still be there. Still looks great and like you said customer definitely won't see this.

Great instruction as usual Jim! I know this was a tricky one due to the access and then the texture but how long did you take to complete this repair & how long should a beginner expect to take to finish it? should he even try it?
@RealWorldPDRTraining
@RealWorldPDRTraining 5 лет назад
I would really think this is more of an intermediate dent, and with the poor access, somewhere in the upper range of intermediate. I would say hold off on this type of repair, but I have been surprised by guys before! This took me almost 4 hours to complete. Bearing in mind I was filming it which eats up a lot of time and the shop always has people coming in and out for estimates and whatnot.... so maybe 2-3 normally? I’m slow though. I don’t rush repairs, and meticulous by choice.

In certain situations it can but, always assume it won’t. That’s just a shortcut you can use AFTER you perfect these skills. Most of the time pushing skills are still necessary

Just tried a sharp sharp dent with this technique, but it was too sharp! Have you attempted something like that and not been able to save it?
@RealWorldPDRTraining
@RealWorldPDRTraining 5 лет назад
Oh yes!!!! “BB gun” damage is a different animal. Sharp, is different than deep, which is different from big. All of which will be covered in the Pdr training series. In essence super sharp dents take the pressures exerted to a really extreme level. Using very sharp tips on that is also necessary, but at a different point during the repair.

You’ll have that one guy, “Hey. The orange-peel is missing here”.
@RealWorldPDRTraining
@RealWorldPDRTraining 5 лет назад
Lol there’s always that guy. One out of a thousand customers, one out of 50 jealous techs 😂😂. I got bad jokes. Yea, for me. I know that 99 percent of customers haven’t looked deep enough st their own cars to notice orange peel. Most of them I’d assume would rather a slicker spot then some small push marks. Either way this customer would’ve been satisfied, but I think this way looks better personally.

The name is changing to “Real world Pdr Training” and this is the reality. My two partners and I don’t intend to sugarcoat anything, just show what this career is about. We are hoping to stick with 100% real dents, not manufactured in the perfect locations, with the perfect access, etc. We all feel like seeing some of the difficulties, including the need for tolecut now and then, is more valuable than staged dents.
