I have chronic pain, depression and anxiety. I'm must say, I'm doing great this Christmas as-far-as depression goes. I have, in the past, always sunk into a very dark place in winter months. The key is not just listen to the coping stratagies, but actually DO them. That seems like just common sense, but sometimes we just listen, listen, listen and not do......duh. We just continue to stay in the dark place. Thanks for all you do. VERY HELPFUL

One of the symptoms of low vitamin D is a low pain threshold. Depression is another symptom. You can’t know, though, if you have low vitamin D unless it’s confirmed with a blood test. My doctor told me about a month ago that I had D levels in the severe deficiency range. Normal levels are 30-40, and mine was 9. She put me on the weekly little green pill (D supplement). Since then, my level of pain has dropped dramatically.

I love your jokes hehe, and thank you so much for helping me smile today :) Thank you SO MUCH for this video, I will be contacting you after the holidays for the chart you show in your videos, I have chronic pain and REFUSE to take pain medications, I do chiropractic, and would like to try acupuncture and other forms of help (degenerative disk disease and connective tissue disease, yay me!) and I am so thankful you made this video, I wish I could send you money, but I'm still waiting for disability. I really love your suggestions on re-framing thinking as well, I've tried it with other aspects of my life and it HAS helped. I currently have 2 support groups, a therapist (and in northern Minnesota there's NOT MUCH to work with up here.) We call the program I signed up for "Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services" (ARMHS for short) and if anything I could add, to anyone who reads this, try to find ways to help, try not to think a pill or a bottle is going to "cure" your ails! Getting to the roots of your problems, trying healthy ways to ease the pain if possible, quick fixes aren't the best way out. I was a horrible alcoholic, I truly am surprised I'm still alive today. I wish everyone who reads this a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy new year, and hopefully a great time finding out wonderful ways to ease the physical and mental pains we endure daily.

I just want to stop at 6:18 and post this comment about Gabapentin. I forgot mine while on vacation and was struck with major panic attacks, abdominal pain (plus what comes with it,) and a host of bad thing mentally and physically. These all subsided when I returned home and started my dosage again. I just want people to be aware that this drug can be addictive. I know from personal experience, which is why I no longer take it (against my doctors wishes.)

I use akuamma. Kratom is great, but addictive and not legal everywhere. Akuamma is a little addictive and more mild in effect, but it’s also 100% legal in all 50 states. Cannabis is also good, even with the low THC strains, but again, not legal everywhere. Also, consult with a naturopathic Dr. if you can. Adaptogens work great too! There are many available, they help the body cope with physical symptoms of stress and pain. I wish you well in your search for relief!

My combination is chronic depression, CPTSD, ADHD/INNATTENTIVE TYPE, Reactivated Epstein Barr Virus, and anoxic brain injury as a child. The death of my mother really triggered a perfect storm about 4 years ago. I find that being misunderstood is hard to cope with because I look normal. I can do. I have osteoarthritis in both knees. people who don't know any better say "well there are others in wheelchairs who cant walk at all. stop feeling sorry for yourself". But I say I am entitled to my pain. my pain doesn't lessen because someone is more misfortunate than me. that's their burden. usually I just "oh well" things. I put up with it, but every now and then I get so angry about it that I give my god a good piece of my mind. But that damned dysthymia. On top of all the other crap I have had in my life, ive got CDD underlying it. "Grant, you don't look depressed". sigh. When I had kidney disease I always heard "But Grant, you don't look sick". I try to be patient but sometimes I just wanna smash them over the head with my knee brace. the problem with exercise, is it takes enough hutchpa to get the willingness to even try it. I have been this way for so so long, I can't imagine ever being happy or content again. sigh.

I am sorry for your suffering. There’s a great man named Jon Kabat Zinn who has written a lot about dealing with chronic pain. You might want to get his book “full catastrophe living.” You might also want to find a video in the library called “healing and the mind,“ by Bill Moyers. In one of the episodes Moyers watches Kabat Zinn teach mindfulness meditation to people who are in chronic pain. This technique helps them when all the other drugs from the doctors did nothing.

I broke my back in 2 places in a roll over & lost all feeling & movement in my arms but not my legs. Luckily my spine healed & I got the use back. But coz I look just like everyone else that's healthy, people often say they don't believe how much pain I'm in. It's not that much different from the back pain I had giving birth to both my kids naturally. I want to die, but euthanasia is illegal here in Australia. But when the new laws come in, I really don't think I will b allowed to do it! Please help?💔😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I'm sorry that you're in so much chronic pain. Are you seeing a pain doctor or going to a pain clinic. My brother is in chronic pain also and he has been prescribed methadone, which she says has given him a new lease on life. Have you talked with your pain doctor and that medications? DanielJones I have only gone from feeling that way almost every day to close to 7 months of feeling much better. I know many won’t agree.... but Could you perhaps start over with a new doctor that could “refurbish”.. re-examine your meds.... but what exactly does it mean when you say that you take more and more and now it has handcuffed your dreams? I never write to people on here but what you’re writing could have my name instead of yours.. I mean... so similar! Unfortunately I attempted this after thinking so long about it. But I just wanted to say... I am better. I am even physically sick with bronchitis.. that they’re worried about going into pneumonia...and having a bunch of pain in my chest, throughout my body all the way to my fingertips! But I feel better and I am not miserable. This may sound funny but I’ve been through a lot and i have degree in psychology and a concentration in abnormal psychology with a concentration in art... and I’m more than half way through a masters degree in counseling... ironic I guess considering I’ve been the biggest mess in the world! The not sleeping alone is enough to make you lose your mind! That HAS to be remedied! I just wonder what you’ve tried and haven’t tried....as far as sleep, pain, anxiety and depression I really have tried everything. Or at least the popular stuff that they’re offering right now. I like this guy. I have tried many... most of his suggestions. He covers a lot I think.... but even if you’ve done everything he has said what I want you to hear me say is , you are not out of options! And I’m an easy person to talk to and you wanna give me a run down of what you’ve tried... what helped for a while then stopped or never worked at all or did the opposite. And I am genuinely curious about your meds handcuffing you to your dreams.. I can make some guesses but I would never wanna put words in your mouth. My name is Jennifer Crawford. You can find me on Facebook if you want. The thumbnail is me hugging my nephew. You don’t have to talk long or anything or you can write me back on here or not at all... I understand. I have just BEEN THERE!! Every word you wrote. And i was like that for soooo many years and now I’m... whew... far from perfect but better!!! And I didn’t even think I would ever say that! Would never wanna be pushy but hope to hear from ya... and happy Christmas Eve.

Chronic pain causes alexythymia in many people, which means chronic pain causes a person to be emotionless. How can someone be depressed if he is emotionless?pretty much a contradiction.Since most alexythymics can't feel anything.there is no grief actually for most of people in chronic pain. This is a missing piece of information most therapists need to know.most people can't even feel emotions when they are in pain, let alone depression.suggestion?

This is about friggin depression and Chronic Pain . Everybody is different , everybody has different tolerances to pain some are very very seriously injured some aren't .Unless you know what your talking about you better keep your mouth shut .when you're pretty much bed ridden because of it ,I'd say your in a world of shit period . I was run over by ten tons chronic pain in ten different places . Let them all fire up at once and their pain level is a ten in all ten .Now you're being tortured . I almost killed my self last year .a person saved my life . But I can't say I won't try it again .When you're in my condition you find out no one really gives a shit not even the doctors . As far that person saved my life he was there . I may say sound morbid but it's my reality unless you know what you know what your talking about and this dude talking let him be in really bad shape he'd change his tune believe me he should just keep is mouth shut .
