Officer Gomez, the first and nicest guy you meet when re-entering the vault, KNOWS he can't win against you in a fight, yet EVERYONE ELSE in the vault are written to be total idiots. Weird how they wrote decent dialogue for 1 NPC and forgot about the rest.
Always liked Officer Gomez. Not only does he know he can't take you in a fight, but he was always kind to you at every interaction from your character's literal childhood to the escape and reentry. One of the few NPCs in the game I felt anything for
@@zaer-ezart don't get me started on how it was all the overseers fault he cares about one kid rather then the whole vault and he killed the only other doctor almost everyone blames you when you had no choice in the matter in leaving the vault they are almost all idiots
They aren't "written" to be total idiots . . . they live in a goddam hole, forever. With outdated and often ignored education from a time long gone. Imagine a white kid at private school who is used to winning at slap fights and wrestling . . . being tossed into an inner city public school. Thinking he can still win. That's basically their mentality. If they just surrendered to you, it would be boring as hell.
@@filipinorunemaster24 Fawkes? Jericho? James? Reily? Harkness? The lamplighters? Bob? What about Gary? You heartless prick. I'm fine with stunted emotional depth in a game that predares COD 4 . . I'm not fine with boring monotone exposition from every single main character in new vegas. Show, don't tell. This game shows.
I actually resolved it peacefully originally and then after Amata kicked me out I did that . I still remember this back in 2008 when I was a teenager . Theres also a random scene you can get outside where Amata gets captured by the enclave .
If I remember correctly, she’s scavenging, they question and capture her, then she gives up the location of the vault. So they kill everyone inside and take the technology.
Fun note on that? If memory serves, you can save her in that encounter (Need to act *really* *quick* since they'll aim for her first), and she basically tells you to piss off. I swear, Stanly, Gomez, and Andy are the sole reasons I don't always opt to burn it down.
The writing in this game is all over the place. Amata is supposed to be your childhood friend, but automatically assumes you're the cause. I guess that's what happens when you have a mostly finished Van Buren game and Bethesda's "writers" get thier paws on it.
@@mikevignola4213 you seem to forget that Vault 101 rhetorics was "everything outside the vault is aggressive and vile". So of course she would assume that player did that, especially since the player also failed to put the blame on her father
Man, the overseer is taking the destruction of his life's work quite well. It's on the level of getting held up at the checkout at the airport. Annoyed instead of blood boiling-livid.
He's just used to getting what he wants, even in this incredible panic he still keeps a cool demeanor on the outside. If he was overreacting or hyper emotional, he wouldn't be the overseer. Not to mention, from the state of the vault even if you spare it . . . his life's work is already gone.
Thats because Bethesda wrote them all to be condescending moralists that are always better and smarter than the player in every way to "Add nuance to the vault".
I never realized how deep the Vault propaganda got. Amata's frame of mind when it comes to the LW in either ending can only be explained by the whole "nothing outside the vault" mentality, even when she wants to leave or open up to the wasteland.
I mean, it's not hard to make people believe it. The only exposure to the outside they have is the occasional GIANT COCKROACH. So naturally, they don't trust anything beyond the door.
i love how the NPCs in fallout games always talk mega smack before they get completely folded 2 seconds later. same with skyrim bandits. you could be level 80 master of all guilds and some dude will still try to run your pockets lol
To be fair with Skyrim, you're almost always a dude with your face covered, in a world with no tech, civil war, and hardly any ways to spread news. I'm sure most bandits think it's some rich knight in armor, and numbers normally would work.
They need to add contextual responses based on your level and equipment. If you're wearing power armour and carrying a gatling laser and an NPC is carrying a knife and wearing rags, they shouldn't even try. It's just an annoyance. The thugs in Freeside are a perfect example. I believe they back off if you're very evil, but I've never seen that myself.
@@basileusbasileon3369 yeah if you have a low reputation their like I I didn't know it was you please don't hurt me I have a wife and kids and pets and stuff
@@supergoodadvice853 "Hey, you see that traveler on the road, wearing armor made from dead dragon parts and carrying weapons of myth that even children would recognize? I'm gonna rob them with my iron dagger!"
You'd think the Overseer had enough sense to get some guys knowing you made it through the wasteland and back in one piece. Honestly, survival of the fittest is very much at play here.
I love how Amata threatens you then you immediately gun her down, classic fallout player. I would have done the same thing but with a fat man for dramatic effect.
If I remember right if you pass the speech check with the Overseer he runs off and if you leave and then return to the vault he's found dead in his office with a gun next to his body because he wanted to go down with his Vault
Nah, it's just fun to do. Just because some of the upper management of a place does not treat you nice, does not mean the others deserve to lose their home.
@@pyry1948 Losing their home may ultimately be for the best. Vaults were never intended to house people for much longer than several decades - that 101 has gone centuries without anyone needing to go outside is nothing short of miraculous, given the consequences of food shortages and, eventually, inbreeding. Besides - it was the Wanderer's home, too.
@@xXRenaxChanXxyour literally justifying mass murder because a few NPC’s didn’t like your character. A lot of you fallout fans are genuinely terrible people; and it shows
If you truly played an evil character, I wonder if it would be possible to send her to Paradise Falls. Just how messed up would that be for the LW to be so corrupted by the Wasteland that he or she would enslave their childhood friend and everyone in the vault just for some caps and out of vengeance? Messed up to me.
There's a random encounter later on where you find her being held by an Enclave squad. You may be able to enslave her then, but I wouldn't know, never tried.
Maybe hit her with the mesmetron and find out. See if you can put her on a leash. Lol I can't stay good through this game, so if I hadn't killed her when she tried to banish me, I probably would have done that. I'm so bad in my game that I got escalator to heaven, and I'm now a devil.
Overseer: "I'll see to it myself! You may be hardened by the wasteland and equipped with heavy weaponry and combat armor, but I have a vault jumpsuit and a pistol! The Gods favor me traitor, can they say the same for ... where are my legs."
its fun to do this, while the innocents of the vault dont deserve to be exiled, amata and her father deserved to - you have the gal to ask somone to come and fix your problems for you only to them exile them from their home? i understand leaving of your own accord to find your father and them not letting you back in, but to say "hey, come fix our problem for us, great, now get out and dont come back" if i recall correctly i did indeed save the vault, but after seeing what they did, i reloaded and instead chose to destroy the vault, but then i just save scummed my way though the low % for no other reason other then to get XP she isent much of a childhood freind if she calls somone who grew up alongside her, who was freinds with her; an 'outsider'
"An outsider? I was just out for a few weeks." It's even more funny if you let her keep the gun in the opening of the game, it leads into her killing one of the Officers of the Vault, meanwhile you can exit without killing anyone. And even still she kicks you out lol
Okay, am I the only one who LOVES the Overseer, and thinks he's absolutely hilarious? 🤣😭 especially how he's like "it could only have been.... *youuuu...*"
Obsidian writing: Oh, so you murdered an entire bunker of some of the most powerful people in the wasteland? I will face you alone, with my hands only, against your power armor
There should've been a special achievement for turning Amata into a puddle of meat and bones with a minigun. Or a mod to turn her into your personal pet slave to do whatever you want to (bonus points for her developing Stockholm Syndrome the more Lone Wanderer abuses her).
everyone drank the kool-aid in the vault I feel it is the best outcome tbth (though I did a bit less killing) the fact that you can't meaningfully call the overseer out for all the wrong that he did Idk why the option to bring up that because of his orders they have no medic if he had not killed Jonas they would still have a doctor or even if they had just left it at James leaving you'd prolly still be in the vault but everyone blames you without a second thought. Even when talking to James you can't mention that the overseer tried to kill you after he left It's so annoying, so yeah destroying that vault is good closure
I remembered i glitched the game by having amata run to the vault door and attacking her and holstering right away. If bugged out leaving the vault open forever. It was awesome.
2:56 I do like Fallout 3, but... Like, can't I just say: "I really don't know, all I heard was an explosion from reactor! Let's gtfo ASAP!" I also love how everyone in the vault is so cocky, like, do they really think a guy with a power armor and gatling laser will not disintegrates them in mileseconds?
I did not know you could do that, i had to salugther each one with my mágnum and machete, i only spared the old lady who gave me cinabon roll on my 10 birthday
When I was younger I would always want to save people like Amata cause "She's my friend". Nowadays when I replay I don't give a shit. She's just as selfish, arrogant and annoying as all the other people in Vault 101. Screw them.
Ah yes, Amata, the poor excuse of a Vault GF, probably made for a nerdy holy Lone Wanderer. Bethesda's writing at its finest, she defending her father regardless of what wacky shit he does. We have the maintenance guy and Gomez, the good guys in the Vault (in the sense that they're likeable).
@@luckyducky4066 You may be right. That'd be for Lone Wanderer ladies, but for guys (i always play as a guy)you can see something of that,or at least i felt like it was
I havent found a comment of who survives out in the Wasteland if you decide to make them all evacuate. I remember Butch sitting in Rivet City and Amata being found by an Enclave patrol, but what about the rest? Did they all die?
The vault wasn't made very good if they put a self destruct switch on their reactors. All the residents going suicidal maniac on the player instead of letting them pay rent was dumb as well. But it was nice to see fallout rendered in 3D.
