Think the answer is yes along with a very odd location for the time of year. What sort of shoe would you have gone for? Not that I am likely to try one :)
For an ultra I think the answer is 'the most comfortable shoe that you have in the cupboard' anything further than a marathon and it's got to be all about comfort, even when aiming for world records!
