Incredible history of Dimash which I'm sure many DEARS from all over the world will greatly appreciate - the extra layers of context that you bring to the development of Dimash over the last 17 years (2006 to 2023) puts several foundational pillars in place which makes us all appreciate him more - the next part of the journey is going to have many departure points and destinations (and i'm talking vocally here) BUT also many, many countries and places as the world wakes up to him - wonderful video..

Very insightful appraisal, Will. I thought his first years didn't seem to indicate what was to come, but there was definite evolving of the voice. We mustn't forget that he was studying music and his singing from 5 years old and clearly he was well-schooled. Dimash came from a very family-oriented environment and musically encouraged by them and I read that he often listened and watched his Mother and Father perform on stage. Dimash was and still is a conscientious student and learns quickly. As well as the sweetest and angelic voice I have ever heard, he plays (well) 7 instruments and now sings in multiple languages. Opera Singers perform in multiple languages but I would bet it isn't in 15 of them! He is an Ambassador for peace and as humble as one can imagine, and for all his qualities, he is my favourite person on the whole planet! And he is handsome - damn it!!

SOS have a very deep meaning to Dimash. Originally this song was a song of the friendship between Dinash and Denis Teng. They had a dream to sing one day together but 2 months before the project started Denis was killed and the song become a tribute song for his friend. On the ytube, you can find nice documentaries about that amazing friendship and how that loss affected Dimash.

I really enjoyed this view of Dimash. He has worked so hard to achieve such a beautiful voice. I’m so happy I’m here to watch where Dimash goes with his career. Always enjoy your comments. Bev

I think Dimash entered into the world at the right time and in the right place in the Chinese competition,I am a singer, above all because the Chinese audience love that kind of music. It was a hit from the first note. Is there another artist in the world that has millions of fans worldwide at the young age of 28? Dimash is talent and passion and hard work put together. ❤

Speaking of vocal technique, between 2010-2014 he studied and graduated in Classical, and between 2014-2018 he studied and graduated in Contemporary, so we can trace that in his evolution. Looks-wise, well, it`s not really Igor 😄 it`s Dimash`s adequation to the public, in China 2018-2019 he was dressed more youthful and acting his own young age, as the fans were in the vast majority young, in Russia he adopted an older, broodier look and whipped out his 'old soul' to match the russian scene of singers, as the audience was much older than China. As an example, his look and spirit in "Love is like a dream", seem 5 years older. And same year, 2019, in China, he appeared different, more his own age, not broody, and with a sweet tenderness towards the public (Dimash - Jasmine 2019 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-69RSkKu7MOs.html) It`s his way of responding to the group of fans he will have in front of him :)

Dimash's transformation between 2013-2017 (age 19-23) was staggering. Not only his voice (range, stability) improved drastically, he also went from a slightly awkward looking scrawny teenager (sorry Dimash 😂) to the Adonis we know him to be today. Something remarkable happened during this period. And whatever it was I'm eternally greatful.

Wow thanks William! So happy you continue to spread knowledege about Dimash. About the first clip from 2006, in an interview where they showed that exact clip, Dimash commented that he tried to sing in a lower voice. He also said in another interview that he was asked to sing soprano in school since he kept his higher register after his voice broke so I guess at that early age being around 12-13 years he wanted to sound more mature than a boy soprano. And yes so much hard training to being able to use his voice seemingly effortless. Famous Dimash quoute: "You don't need to know how hard I have worked, you just have to enjoy the results" but yes, it is important to know it takes a lot of hard work. They worked really early with the songs Daididau and SOS for competition and of course he sang both during the Singer in China. Erlan Bechkurin has done a lot of amazing arrangments for Dimash and it would be fun if you looked into Akkuym both the video and the few liveperformances. I think it is a very underrated song by Dimash.

I ALWAYS enjoy your Dimash reactions. You bring a uniqueness other reactors don't possess. I agree that I Am Singer was a huge turning point for him. From the first performance of SOS and the reaction he got from the Chinese people, I think that bolstered his condidence so much and he put his "all" into every performance. Yes Dimash has developed a lot, he is still working on himself today. When he first performed at the age of 12, he said his classmates often asked him if he could sing in a different way than the high notes, and that's why he had chosen a piece with lower notes for it. Well, soprano notes were his thing early on, he supposedly often sang the soprano part in the choir. He was also partially criticized in the past for showing off his ability to hit high notes. His range was exceptional early on, but he was scolded for it. In 2017 in China he was still very young. He had also never really been away from home for any length of time. We could watch and see how he grew up more and more. It's very interesting and great to see it that way. Now he's a grown young man who knows pretty well what he wants.

Thank you for this compilation. I've only been a dear since November. Think how many of us would have dismissed him in his teens. But he knew he was destined for better things. Who knows what he will be able to do in 5 years when he is the most famous singer on the planet. As one who gave up on my musical dreams decades ago.. His success and talent are such an inspiration. He is a once in a century phenomenon. it's as if Halley's Comet was coming to earth and decided to hang out for a while. More than all of this, so many of us recognize his humility and simple ways. He is truly a role model for a generation.
