Oh, so the lower two discs and degeneration from aging seen in an MRI are not really happening because i haven't intergrated the whole body properly for over 5 decades and if I pay you, I'll learn how to move my body wholly, and the spinal issues will magically disappear.😂

It doesn't matter, as all people have this when aging, but the problems are related to the muscles. He is totally right with promoting exercises, as in almost all cases of back pain the problem is unrelated to what an mri might show-if there isn't a tumor putting pressure somewhere, than you can treat it with muscle exercises.

I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable. however, that's not what I am saying at all. What shows on MRIs, x-rays are real. The imaging studies are essential and can identify or rule out significant conditions. It is also true (based on the neuroscience research) that the severity of tissue damage and individual pain experience are not directly correlated. In fact, there are many people with moderate disc herniations, joint degeneration who don't have pain, while some with very mild disc herniations, joint degeneration who have significant pain. Another example is, people who lost their limb often experience pain in the limb that doesn't exist (called Phantom pain), which explains pain is not directly related to the degree of tissue damage. There's an excellent book "Explain Pain" about the mechanism of pain. My concern is that there's too much emphasis on structural cause-effect view, which is only one aspect, and not considering all other aspects. This simplistic view has become predominant, and has influenced our beliefs about our body, and that is my concern. We are not a machine. Our body functions as a whole. All our parts are connected. Our body, mind, nervous system are connected. We're also connected to the environment, so we are influenced by the environment, the surroundings, which are constantly changing. All our body systems are connected (nervous system, muscular system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, endocrine system, immune system, etc). Many people treat their body like a machine. We need to understand that our body functions as a whole, so we need to treat our body accordingly. That is my deep message.
