Wow this show has improved so much since the start. Its no longer trying to be like top gear or any other car show. It finally has its own identity. Very good and informative reviews also
Isn't every other car show that isn't Top Gear or Grand Tour like this? But it doesn't matter. The point is to be mildly entertaining and very informative. After all people may decide which car to buy after watching this (or at least get useful suggestions).
Kia is Korean product, the main feature is aimed for a user/driver friendly. I like how every thing is being thoughtfully made. Except the small legs room at the back. My sister drives this. If you want an affordable but “canggih” and safe (airbags) choose Picanto! Proton Iriz has a lot of airbags, a compact body (my car was hit by a lorry but it had not a serious damage), it has a fair room legs for back passengers, great engine sound (mine is the first edition), the riding, cruising and cornering is smooth, Perodua Myvi is giving a new look and i like how the USB ports are placed at unique places. My younger brother drives it, he likes his car, except for the sound system-he likes the one in my car better. I have experienced riding all three but i cant explained everything here for it’s going to be long hehe, every thing is well explained in the video anyway. but again, each of the car has their special uniqueness to offer.
Shalieza Ismail yes same here. it goes back to the engine i guess. Iriz is 1.6 .. i have no factual or scientific research but few things that i can share is from the speed and consistency that i drive on (I usually drive at 90km/h.. speeding only when necessary) and the temperature of my AC (the colder, the faster it combusts #iNotice) and also the formula of the petrol would play a factor too (i use petronas and it does save up) hope it helps!☺️
Azlano has better taste... That's why Iriz stay evergreen... I've been driving almost 4years... Tak pernah boring dan bosan. Yang cakap macam2 tu totally bias dan anti proton
Alsaddam Suhaimi ... Myvi generasi pertama pun masih diminati ramai disebabkan design yg senang diterima ramai... ape guna evergreen when yg tgk Iriz nie is like either u like it or hate it? yeap... big fat boy Iriz
Design itself,is way matured but yes theres nothing new to see.Iriz already 4 years in the market but still everytime i see the 1.6 on the road, its still catch my attention
Good to see that Malaysian car reviewers are stepping up their games in car review videos. Keep it up! And can sense the element of autobuzz in this video, which is a very good thing!
Wow! Paultan hired new video team to shoot this new season? This look much much much better than previous Seasons! Cinematic and Color editing is awesome! Plus, three hosts are performing well, getting nature when facing camera! Great job!
Don't agree when u guys said that the Iriz has outdated looks especially the refined 2017 Iriz. Proton Iriz still looks good from the inside and out. Picanto has improved a lot compare to the previous model in term of look but saying that MYVI looks better is clearly a bias statement. We all know and understand no matter how MYVI looks, Malaysian will still want to buy them. They buy MYVI is not because of the look or quality but simply the fact that PERODUA has successfully cemented the positive image of MYVI or Perodua a long time ago, no matter how much other brand (eg. PROTON) has improved
tony kimin ... Proton has being longer in building cars than Perodua... how come they cant match with Perodua today? I totally cant accept what u said that people buy Myvi Just because of its brand image... ur making statement SYOK SENDIRI or perhaps u own an Iriz too... recently before CNY 2020, my grandma brought an new car... we actually want to buy her the new Toyota Yaris but she insist the new Myvi as she said the new Myvi looks better... we even took her to test drive the Iriz but she Just turn her head and she hate the rear looking of the Iriz... like a big fat boys butt...
m haz sooo windows 95 bro... the Quality has been improved.. and the new campro vvt engine is also has alot of improvement... the new pesona fuel cosumption is like the old Vios maa... but yeah... still lot of work to do... and still a lot of improvement to be done... Proton had improvement we cant denied it.... #protonbuyer #notperfect #buthaveimprovement
Syafiq Khir yupp setuju... Proton bukak mata utk jenama2 kerata lain meningkatkan safety mereka kalau x perodua masih keluarkan perodua Viva yg mcm tin aluminium ajee.. skrg baru laa nampak perubahan kat keluaran baru Perodua... Axia.. Myvi 2018... generasi Perodua yg safety telah di pertingkatkan....
Samad Teganu ... u buy Proton cars of course u Jilat Proton lah... but u cant denied that this Iriz is very poor in sales... even in this review also stated the Myvi built Quality is even better than Iriz.. what u can talk about Iriz is handling and HPF safety which are not everyone choice compare to practicality, fuel saving, better Quality Built, good after sales service and more interior room...
Its good that u guys classified the noise by full throttle, idle and steady cruise. Both national carmakers got a lot of homework to do as the Picanto has proven to be highly refined, most comfortable drive, with the best cabin fit-finish quality.
Hi, i'm from Indonesia and i've been subscribe to your channel since 1.5 years ago. I think this video is one of the best video from your channel. The landscape was amazing. Really enjoy your video..
FINALLY DRIVEN IS BACK ! regarding the result , i was quite surprised seing perodua is actually at number 1 . few years ago , perodua is at last position when they compared the axia vs picanto and the iriz and it’s truly amazed me seing that perodua is at first place rn . perodua has changed so much in these few years . keep up the goodwork and kudos to team perodua ! and to proton you guys should learn how to make a car and profit like perodua did !
I would pick out of the trio, the Perodua Myvi. The Myvi offers an interesting design, supreme practicality, and the fact it has a built in SMART-TAG reader so it is convenient for passing through toll bars.
Awesome as always... please make more driven episodes...you guys are doing a great job. I hope we can see more episodes of driven... Frankly speaking it is a good as top gear during the days of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.
@Paul Tan's Automotive News - Kudos to this year's review - VERY straightforward, all in all but just one aspect - Matthew should have added a little bit regarding practicality, in the aspect of Proton where he could have mentioned the fact that if anyone can't get on with the lack of boot space of the Iriz can still SAVE UP a few thousand Malaysian Ringgit for the Persona Premium - keep the reviews going!
I think it would be great to re-visit these cars after say 1 year of ownership. Which car have the most issues or common issues and how difficult is it to get parts and also the cost of parts from each manufacturer to compare with. Atleast the audience have a good feel and confidence of the cars from each manufacturer.
Errmm.... Mr Singh you forgot to mention that , Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group own it's in-house steel mill to supply steel sheets for the production of automobiles. Thier latest version of automotive steel which is used in all new Hyundai and Kia cars (including the Picanto) is called Advanced High-Strength Steel or AHSS for short. This steel has been tested globally and is considered one of the best quality steel products used in the automotive industry, by a mass production company. Just putting it out there... 😉
Thanks PT for bringing Driven back this year. Super first episode, really enjoying the fresh content and Matt is a great addition. For next episode, would really appreciate a shootout between the latest CRV, CX5 and Tiguan, preferably in top spec with all the options on. Thanks in advance.
Good review..but just don't understand why the Myvi gets all the positive vibes. I have driven the full spec 1.5 Myvi. It is a good car except for the ride. It is spine shattering over large potholes. And Malaysian roads are full of potholes. Funny thing bezza suspension is much better. Iriz plus points - does come with really comfortable seats suitable for long distance travel + the really good handling.
I wonder why most people abit dislike with the Iriz look? Is it because of the brand? I think it look European design and not outdated at all. The 3rd quarter body looks abit like the A Series (not the newest launch recently)
I don't quite understand it either. It's not the best looking car, but neither was the outgoing Myvi. And the new one isn't prettier either. But it doesn't have to be, it has to be practical.
I love the look of the Iriz. Especially with the spoiler. I guess it's too bold for most people? I consider the new Myvi to be very conservative.. When it first hit the roads, I had trouble distinguishing it from the Ford Fiesta or that other Kia model, what's it called? The Rio? The new Myvi has a very generic overall shape.
Yes Myvi won overall. But being mindful of the long queue though for about 3-4 months waiting list for the full spec MyVi Advanced 1.5, a major setback for potential buyers
Been using the iriz for 6 months. So far the car has been doing fine. Engine and transmission noise would definitely become louder if you drive above 120, provided this is not a hybrid or V6 car. The handling is good, but not great. One should try the Waja, old Persona, Satria Neo, Gen2, Preve and Suprima S to know the true essence of precise Lotus tuned handling. Comfort wise, it is livable. However fuel consumption is still not bad. Proper driving style without overly depending on the air con would give u smtg like 13.5km/l. But if you all are looking to buy a new Proton, get the Persona instead. The new Persona has better value of money.
Would love to know how much it costs to replace the windscreen, since the dealer organised insurance quoted RM400 per year over and above the +/-RM1600 annual insurance, which I think is a lot for an A Segment car with no rain sensing, front demisting, or AEB sensors.
Zahemi AZUL ISLAMI saga lagi sedap sebab sedan car lagi stabil. Walaubagaimanapun iriz menang bab handling sebab ianya dicipta untuk import ke Eropah. Iriz lagi sedap dari persona baru
Saw windshield crack at the picanto... Which is why maybe the car is shown with its back rather than its front as compared to the two other cars, myvi and proton...
Hope the face-lift model will look beautiful than it's previous model. I also hope they look into sound insulation while on the road as I own the 2015 product and the road noise is abit too much, plus the engine itself just roars at ya. Now, I know that it's the newest product at the time, hence my statement. Would love to see big improvements on the Iriz.
PawpawOintment ... no matter what Proton make the change on the Iriz, the Myvi will continue to be the best selling B segment compact in Malaysia for years to come... tak guna buat kereta syok sendiri
kia picanto’s fabric seat can be upgraded to leather seat, topup only rm1500. no need downpayment, full loan. bank loan includes otr price + leather seat = +/- rm52k
Comprehensive review. However, the video editor, please step up your colour grading. It hurts so much that some really good cinematography went to waste with that flat, dull and down colour.
there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that lol . this purpose of this video is to help and guide us to buy the right car not to buy a car by its segment .
This review just reaffirms my interest in picanto. It looks fun, premium interior (carplay!), and cheapest in its class. Myvi's interior sucks. Iriz's design is 4 yrs old, but it looks really outdated. Go for picanto, folks. Am considering one for myself.
I like iriz few years back. But now the picanto should be the overall's best as it has the best build quality and price among other two cars, despite losing iriz in terms of handling. How I wish I could have all the goods from different band integrated into a car.
Very informative and complete review. Myvi wins it. Kia is cheaper, smaller but more refined. And while Iriz handles the best, it loses out on the other two because of its age and the fact that proton is still finding its feet after all of these years.. 😉 Good job guys and keep it up!
Fair point..kia picanto is a close second to the myvi,no wonder my wife digg the new look so much but wait till depreciation lh as i know the myvi might not come down so much even as a used car
Picanto everything is better, solid, premium, ada Auto Cruise, Auto Android and apple car play, 4dics brake, 6 airbags, TRC, ESC ,BAS, chasis keras and the brake so padu. kecuali space kecik , picanto handling like segment D, top speed 190kmh body x goyang.
Why would the looks of the Iriz be outdated simply because Perodua changed the styling of the Myvi? Huh? When the 2018 Myvi first came out, I couldn't distinguish it on the road from the the Ford Fiesta or that other Kia model.. What's it called? The Rio? It has a very generic shape. The old Myvi may be ugly, but at least it stands out on the road as the ugly frog car.
True. Nowadays i cant event distinguish between myvi, axia & alza on first glance unless i see the label, they all look almost the same. Compare this with last gen myvi, even makcik2 can spot it with no problem.. it has unique 'siput' look like no other car. I understand why perodua has to come up with new design, but by doing so, they also lose the identity of the original myvi that make it so popular.
