I have started a new relationship with CNC Router Parts LLC. This will start with me receiving a new CNC machine from them and future videos of mine will be done using this new CNC machine. Also, they are buying my old machine and removing it. This video will be about taking apart my current CNC machine. The next video will be about building the new machine from one of CNC Router Parts kit machines.

I think that’s a great example of creating your own opportunities by sharing free RU-vid content. You’ve build yourself a brand and reputation and gained lots of people who follow what you’re doing and that seems to be paying off. Congratulations. It’s well deserved.

i hope the old machine finds a happy new owner and they didnt buy it just to scrap it. The most valuable thing is the learning experience you had, and having built one yourself is the best way to evaluate an "off the shelf" machine!

is i understand corectly you are going to build new cnc. i thought if interesting idea. why not to make some kind of fiting for a hose of vacum like shopvac or something like it and place it near the router bit so vacum would collect all dust particles automaticly.

No doubt it was one of those moments when you realize *exactly* what "bittersweet" means. I experienced that with a motorcycle I had spent well over a year rebuilding, having done work on every single part. Due to a cross-country move it made the most sense to sell it, and I got a good price for it, but it was very hard to see it go.
@frankmakes

I don't know Frank, but a big part of the allure of your CNC is that you built it from scratch, and that it worked and worked well. That was both impressive and inspirational and I think many people (like me) were putting dyi CNC into their realm of possibility. A factory built machine and sponsorship kinda spoils those aspects of your videos. I am happy for your success in the vlog/woodworking world but your channel wasn't built on corporate advertising. I hope you don't lose site of that and the ingenuitive, artful Frank we follow to simply watch projects being stamped out of a "factory". Regards.
@frankmakes
@frankmakes 7 лет назад
that knowledge, story, and possibility still exist. If i start stamping out uninteresting projects than you have a case.

I agree but looking at both CNCparts.com and Joes CNC that the original was based on, the CNCparts.com is a real nice machine, even better than Joe's for around the same cost when all is said and done.

Plus it's not like this is a factory assembled machine coming from China or shopbot or a bigger company etc. It's still a great kit we'll get to see him put together. Cnc Router Parts is a fairly small DIY type place from everything I've seen. I'm tempted to go with their kit just to save me having to source a billion little parts from all over the place.

Frank, I'm curious WHY you would want to get rid of (well.....sell) a machine and frame you built from scratch and know so well, for a new one that someone else built and will probably have problems or at the least take you getting used to? Could you please do a video on that if you don't mind? All the best to you on the new and hopefully better CNC!

One thing I know about the machine Frank built. it looked to be based on the JoesCNC Evolution machine, which used v-bearings on angle iron for the linear rail system. Depending on exactly which machine Frank is getting, and from the boxes it looked like the top kit that CNCRouterparts sells, it will use true 4-axis recirculating ball linear rails which are much stiffer and far more accurate then what Frank had.
@tristanpatterson3843

Yes, I'd say the new unit will have zero backlash due to top of the line ball screws and rails. Jealous.

I have bought a 3 axis motor kit with rack and pinion from them, I live about 45 min from their shop. They were very helpful in getting the driver working. Your machine was nice, with very little truly wrong with it. I could see getting a nice spindle instead of a router, and a better rail system. But for a first CnC that was a NICE one, loved the drop table end idea.

I'll be interested to see what they gave you as a replacement as I think they got the better end of the deal. The customized bracketry that you designed and built into your machine made it incredibly rigid and I have a feeling they did the trade in part because they wanted to be able to make and sell copies of those parts. It's quite possible you just gave them patentable designs worth a lot of money while also becoming an advertiser for them without much to show for it. The adjustable angle table design is also quite unique and that very well could be in their plans to copy as well.
