It was a great use of bass. I didn’t know the sound system at the Lincoln Square IMAX could make seats vibrate like they did with this scene. I can’t wait to crank up my subwoofer and shake the house when this comes out on Blu-Ray.

Stilgar's story is tragic. He starts off as a tough, wise Fremen leader, mentor, and friend to Paul, but by the end, he's an unthinking zealot.

Yes because its so horrific to follow and have faith in something. They all literally dress the same and do the same thing. Its a desert planet how individual do you think these people are.

@@meldroc I had a similar opinion until I saw another comment someone made about looking at it from Stilgar's perspective. We as the audience know that the prophecy is manufactured and that the Fremen are being deceived, but Stilgar himself is a true believer who has had his faith rewarded and seen the promises of his religion realized right before his eyes. His messiah has returned, destroyed the Harkonnens who have been oppressing his people, and is promised the green paradise that's central to his people's hope for the future. We know he's a pawn, but all he sees is every wish he's ever had coming true.

@@thecappeningchannel515 It wouldn't of gotten far as the Harkonnen would of put a stop to it as soon as they noticed things were changing, as it would of effected their bottom line.

The rider/pilot rides the worm around in circles until it gets tired, which allows the rider to then jump off without being eaten by the worm. Then it fucks off to rest.

I think they have something to do with the way the worm is able to move through the sand which is why they point forward

I told myself that those things don’t have functioning lungs and the only way for it to breathe would be for the worm to surface. Then the air would be fed to it by its speed instead of it inhaling.

I hear you. The front facing "skin nostrils" are odd especially that they have the worms traveling mostly in the sand with a lot of sand spilling over the top of the worm. Here's the passage from the book: "Now the thumper's deep drumming blended with the hiss of the approaching worm. Paul breathed deeply, smelling mineral bitterness of sand even through his filters. The wild maker, the old man of the desert, loomed, almost on him. Its cresting front segments threw a sandwave that would sweep across his knees. Come up, you lovely monster, he thought. Up. You hear me calling. Come up. Come up. The wave lifted his feet. Surface dust swept across him. He steadied himself, his world dominated by the passage of that sand-clouded curving wall, that segmented cliff, the ring lines sharply defined in it. Paul lifted his hooks, sighted along them, leaned in. He felt them bite and pull. He leaped upward, planting his feet against that wall, leaning out against the clinging barbs. This was the true instant of the testing: if he had planted the hooks correctly at the leading edge of a ring segment, opening the segment, the worm would not roll down and crush him. I find it funny that that is where your suspension of disbelief kicked in. Space Witches you accepted, Fremen having complex technology despite seemingly living in caves you accepted, having psychic conversations with a baby in her future older self you accepted, the fact that a desert planet can even sustain a lifeform as big as the Sand Worm you accepted. Try not to get caught up on the minute details, you'll just unravel every movie in existence you intellectual.

The way the sandworms travel in the movie is by essentially aerating the sand, and making it more liquid. The skin plates are oriented towards the front because this directs the sound (the deep clicking) towards the front, allowing the worm to travel. Otherwise, the sound goes behind the worm which wont aid its movement at all.

Path of least resistance. No ground is ever really "solid", so its probably going around hidden rock faces. Also explains the drum sand as essentially compacted sandstone.

When Paul punched the ground that He walked down. That is The sound of Drumsand, it is not really a sand, but a crystalized ground which amplify the sound just like in the first part that he ran away from sandworm.

Because a fair bit of the stuff in this version of Dune didn't make that much sense. Another thing was the fcked up reverse camera angle they used when Paul slides down the sand dune into the worm, It makes it look like he's using his prong thing against the sand when it is in fact the worm, yet he descended with his back to the dune. Really shoddy editing.

They climb up with a rope the rider throws them (1984 film) and they get off by jumping (book, last chapter). In children of dune, Leto II rides the worm into exhaustion until it stops moving and dives.

In the novel they jump off. The sand cushions.

Bro, they're having fun because a guy just finished his training and he happens to be the chosen one from their religion. Real world disciplined warriors do the same, especially archaeological evidence of ancient and medieval knights celebrating tournaments and footage of the US navy partying in the USS Missouri when it was sailing to the Philippines during the 90's.

My only reasoning for this was the fremen covering their faces and staying in the dark of sietches. It's also mentioned numerous times that fremen prefer to travel by night in the open, they pretty much avoid going out in the day unless absolutely necessary, the movie doesnt catch this nor does it capture the moisture seals the sietches use. Most of the fremen were darker in complexion so it fit but Paul and Jessica definitely lacked some colour

They use a type of juicr on their skin to not sweat. Maybe it stops tanning too.

I sometimed wish I was as observant as this, and other times I am happy I'm not. Would ruin the movie for me too.

They can go on automatically, you can see it for a split second when Paul and Chani are attacking the the ornithopter
