Finally we the subframe refresh is here!
In this 2 part series we are going to refresh the entire subframe of my E36. This means disassemble the old one, Powder coat the new ones, install all the strongflex bushings, wheelbearings, balljoints and assembling it all back on this car.
Part 1 is about taking the old subframe and making it new. This means taking everything apart, powdercoat it and push all the new Stronglex bushings in
Part 2 is about taking the old one of my car and putting the new one back in.
Hope you guys enjoyed the video, hopefully this gives you some clarity if you want to do this mod yourself. If you have any questions please let me know in the comments!

Nice vid !!! Im looking forward to part 2 ! The plates you are going to weld in, are they preventive or has your chassis got cracks ?
@TJS36
@TJS36 3 года назад
Thank you, I welded 2 plates on the subframe to reinforce the part where the sway bar mounts. Those on the chassis are for prevention. You can see it in part 2 but the previous owner already welded those in so I don’t have to. 😂

@@TJS36 oh ! Lucky ! I wish my previous reinforced mine :( 300k kms on the clock, and to this point they hold up fine, but im scared they will crack soon... Mine is also an avus blue coupe with ap coilovers. 320i tho.

@@yaron1998 Mine is also over 300K kms, so I highly recommend taking a look at the state of your subframe. You will see it in part 2, mine was in really bad condition...

Hey! Did you use the wheel bearing press kit to install the trailing arm ball joints, lower control arm metal sleeve, and to remove the old diff bushings? Also how did you remove all of the bushings before getting the suspension components powder coated?
@TJS36
@TJS36 2 года назад
Yes, I used that tool to press all the old bushings out and new ones in👌

Looks great! Are you also going to do a cost breakdown? I'd be interested to see how much it costs, because I'd like to do it myself too

Cost me about £200 but I painted the parts myself and didn't change the wheel bearings. Made a huge difference, car feels so much tighter. I would also recommend using Strongflex bushes, much cheaper than Powerflex but really good quality.

Yeah you can do it pretty cheap. I went for the complete different path and replaced almost everything
