@@TechNolli Only issue is for my other device that doesnt have ethernet... its stuck at the apple recovery mode and wont let me setup due to not having wifi. is there a way for me to use wireless at this point ? completely stumped....

Hi TechNolli, The only minor issue is that when I remove -v, I get overlaying text with the Apple progress bar.

A new version of opencorepkg v0.5.6 was released a few days ago but the config.plist has changed.

@@TechNolli How do I get permissions on opencore? I can't use ProperTree or anything now booted to Catalina. Hackintool nor the terminal commands I used in Clover work. I get that error 77 that I remember from awhile back. I give Admin access thru "get Info" and still no write access. Any suggestions? Thanks again!

@@TechNolli I probably expressed myself a little unhappy with the 15-port USB limit. Yes, the 15-port USB limit (per controller) is activated, but my mainboard, Asus Prime Z390-A, only has one controller, but more than 15 USB ports. This leads to the following problems: - 2 USB ports that are on the mainboard do not work at all. - The USB 3.0 ports do not provide enough power and so my 2.5 "HDD cannot be operated The solution would be !? - to create your own USBPorts.kext, which among other things the power properties and max. Contains 15 ports - which would then have to be activated in OpenCore. I hope I could explain it

Hi Claire! There is not real way to update your Opencore because the config.plist and x.efi files are different in each version. If yours works then you are good!

TechNolli hi how’s it going. When I got and try and boot I’m still getting hung at the boot. Varboos scramble texts, then it stops. I don’t know if it’s working or not. I’m running a omen i7 9700 with a gpu nvidia GeForce rtx 2070 super. What I’m I doing wrong? Did I mess up in the propertree? I just followed everything in the video, maybe there was more drivers I should of put in. I just put the ones from the website

Hi there. For laptops, just follow the laptop section on the OpenCore documentation on how to setup your initial config.plist. It is also a good idea to disable any dedicated/secondary graphics cards as those may cause issues with booting.

Hi mate. Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, you are going to have a problem with Catalina and Nvidia drivers. I am not sure if others have got it to work however, I have tried and have chosen to rather use on-board graphics until I get another graphics card. I no clover had an option to boot with Nvidia web drivers not sure if it would work

@@TechNolli It worked! I have now successfully installed Catalina 10.15.3. There were few things that I wanted to call out so that other people may also benefit. My computer has the following specs: Motherboard: gigabyte z370 D3 CPU: i7 8700K GPU: Rx 480 1. I followed your tutorial on making USB install and the only change I made from you is on the ethernet kext. Instead of using IntelMausiEthernet kext I used RealtekRLT8111. You can find the kext here www.tonymacx86.com/resources/categories/kexts.11/ 2. I am used to using clover as a boot loader and this is my first time to use open core. One key difference I noticed during installation is that it took much longer for the files on USB to write to my SSD drive. It took about 2.5 hours on open core versus about 3 to 5 minutes on clover. 3. Per your tutorial, once you were on macOS Catalina and you mounted your SSD drive using clover configurator, it showed that you have ca folder called EFI. When I opened mine there was nothing. I had to copy the EFI folder from the USB installer to the EFI partition of the SSD. 4. Per your tutorial, once you were on macOS Catalina, you said you need to have 3 things: clover configurator, GenSMBIOS master and ProperTree-master. a. Clover configurator - Google "clover configurator" and the click on the first results b. ProperTree=master - you can find this at www.technolli.com/downloads under 'open core files' 5. Opening 'proper tree.command requires escalated privileges. If you try to double click on it you will likely get an error message. Open terminal and type chmod u+x / drag and paste the proper tree.command file here and press enter. Now try to open it again 6. Opening gensmbios.command will result in a message that says something like it is from untrusted source. Click on launchpad - system preferences - security and privacy then click on open Overall the installation went very well. One thing you forgot to do and that is to walk us through in cleaning up boot arguments. Once again, thank you very much. I am now going and try to reboot to see if will work. I am also going to test iMessage after reboot.

Before rebooting, I checked the kext folder and noticed FakeSMC kext was missing, I added this and then rebooted and it rebooted and came back fine with no issues.

Yes if you have Coffee Lake chipset you need to make sure you are using the SSDT's and building your config.plist based on the Opencore Coffee Lake webpage.

@@TechNolli i'm interpreting your response to mean i use the opencore vanilla guide chipset ssdt's that align with the cpu lake type on the machine i'll be using the usb bootloader to install macOS and not the cpu lake type of the machine i'm creating the usb bootloader on, assuming they are different machines.

@@TechNolli Do you have a sense for which one is faster given i'm finding clover bootloader is really slow and haven't been able to test yet if that changes if one turns off verbose mode. I followed the steps in this video to create an opencore bootloader for my i7-8650u kaby lake r generation processor based x1 yoga gen3 laptop and when i booted from it things just hung without any progress being displayed. Conversely when i followed your video on creating clover bootloader customized for kaby lake, using a macOS virtual machine running on my windows host, that booted and let me into the macOS installer recovery tools and installation kickoff process. Not sure why the opencore one didn't work. I booted with thunderbolt 3 dock connected and the macOS network utility and terminal window see and are able to use the dock's ethernet. Need to wait for fast usb stick to test installing macOS as it doesn't show available space on windows disk as a viable installation target, and i'm guessing if it did macOS install would tromp on my windows created EFI partition that lives on that disk.

Try this fix: OpenCore users: ​FwRuntimeServices​ ​OpenCoreShell(Don't forget to enable this under Root->Misc->Tools) Config.plist settings: AvoidRuntimeDefrag: YES Fixes UEFI runtime services like date, time, NVRAM, etc DevirtualiseMmio: YES Reduces stolen memory footprint so we're given more options for slide values, do not use on AMD CPU based systems EnableSafeModeSlide: YES Allows us to use slide in safe mode, just so if you have other issues troubleshooting won't mess it up. EnableWriteUnprotector: YES Allows us to write to certain areas that the firmware locks, specifically the CR0 register. ProvideCustomSlide: YES Kinda need that slide to do any real work. SetupVirtualMap: YES Creates a layer between macOS and your memory map for greater support and fewer chances of insecure write access. ShrinkMemoryMap: YES Fixes issues with very large memory maps that don't fit, very useful for X99 and X299 platforms and sometimes for Z390.

@@TechNolli Thanks, but already tried that with no luck....It's odd because I can change 1 thing in bios restart and it works, then if I reboot (with the same bios) I get the error "can't allocate runtime......."
