Eating Out With Insulin Resistance: What Healthy Meals I'm Eating Today!

It's been awhile but today I'm here to share with you how to eat healthy while eating out and to show you first-hand the types of foods I order that comply with my way of eating when it comes to managing insulin resistance and pre diabetes. Due to water damage, my kitchen has been out of commission since January 2023 so I have been able to cook very minimally, and have been forced to do take-out pretty much daily. This video is a snapshot of one of the many days this year that I have had to eat out and how to try my best to fit it into my insulin resistance lifestyle.
A little bit about my blood sugar journey... I was told I was insulin resistant in 2017 after a glucose tolerance test my reproductive endocrinologist ordered for me when I was having trouble getting pregnant. And after conceiving, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes very early on. Since then, I've been diligently learning about blood sugar dysregulation and gathering data through constant finger pricks and CGM experiments since I am now at greater risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes in the future. I've learned A LOT about what works and doesn't work for my body, and how my body responds to different foods. I hope this video helps you on your path to a healthier lifestyle!

Ritz Crackers contain high fructose corn syrup and maltodextrin. You might not know this but Maltodextrin is the highest Glycemic index ingredient that I know of at 132. Maltodextrin in the USA is considered a carbohydrate but really malto means sugar and dextrin means group. So it really is a group of sugars in one ingredient that is why it spikes blood sugar so high and it has a Glycemic index of 132. Along with the high fructose corn syrup which is a deadly duo. I learned about Maltodextrin when I was eating taco bell. Taco bell has maltodextrin in its sauce, beans, beef, and tortilla. That is the reason people go to taco bell cause the 132 Glycemic index they cannot get anywhere else especially at that dosage.

I know this is an old video, and I commented before....but I still can't imagine ordering in that many times! We have a camp stove, Instant Pot, Crock Pot, rice cooker, microwave, BBQ, deep fryer...only missing a toaster oven and air fryer LOL. My inner frugalness just wouldn't tolerate ordering out. Also, all the grocery stores here have prepared meals; some you can select the serving size. Your meals did look good though! And really....I'd love to have a reason to have someone else do that much cooking for me LOL!!

I had bought Ritz crackers for my son's birthday back in March" 😭😭😭😭 Sometimes the simplest gifts are best. But - I stopped eating Ritz crackers too. I love them but something about them screws up my digestion. OMG - Those guys ARE SO CUTE! One of the most important things to manage your bodies sugar response is rest. Also many new mothers are iron and vitamin B deficient. PS, you make my happy when I watch your videos. I'm glad your A1c is better.

Hey I heard some reheated food like rice and pasta spike sugars less the than fresh ones. And another one is the freazinb bread lowers its glycemic. What are your thoughts on those hacks

I've heard this too but haven't found that it makes a significant impact on my blood sugar unfortunately.

5:55 Insulin resistance caused by carbo intake from the mouth. Just skip any bread or carbo for breakfast. Egg and avocado is enough. And your drink like tea, a green tea..don't forget liquid.

Great video. I would be interested in more information about the crackers. I grew up on them but now limit them to one box at Christmas, mostly due to calories. Just curious.

According to my research, Ritz is banned in a bunch of countries due to the partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oils, which are trans fats that are banned and limited in other parts of the world.

I have watched several of your videos and appreciated your intent, but I'm sorry, you are not a true diabetic. Your blood sugar levels are the same as a normal person. Maybe you had Gestational diabetes, but it's not the same at all. I have struggling with type 2 diabetes for several years. It's a constant struggle to keep in control of my blood sugar.
