Granted, the CyberTruck specs are not exactly what was shown 4 years ago. But the CyberTruck is far more than just a truck, far more than just the specs. CyberTruck represents a revolutionary design supported by next-generation engineering and manufacturing processes. Much of this is lost on the general public who just see a rather expensive funny-looking vehicle that calls itself a pickup truck. Having been in engineering and technology for nearly 50 years, I was not surprised nor was I disappointed with the specs of those in the final delivered product. Again, it's more about all the innovation that went into CyberTruck rather than the vehicle itself. If history teaches us anything, the Model Y was met with similar disdain when it came out and now it is the best selling car in the world, a title previously held by the Toyota Rav4. It is quite possible that CyberTruck will create a similar disruption in the world of pickup trucks. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few years, not just from the sales of CyberTruck but also how the related technologies and manufacturing processes develop and propagate to other automotive companies. I know I won't see my shiny new CyberTruck for another 2-3 years but that's fine because it will take me that long to figure out how to tell my wife that I ordered one😊

@@rickb.4168 - If you only focus on the specs then you are clearly missing the point. The CyberTruck represents new engineering and manufacturing techniques that are far beyond the capabilities of the legacy automakers which is far more important than the CyberTruck itself. So the specs changed from the original concept to the delivered Version 1.0 and the schedule slipped a bit. That's to be expected when you are innovating at the extreme scale as Tesla has been doing since they started.

I'm excited about the studio sound 15 speakers and 2 sub woofers in the Cyber Truck. None of the videos will demo the sound system because of copyright restrictions. I've configured my Cyber Truck in December. Delivery per Tesla is Jan-Mar 2024. I'm super excited!

I want to 6 Wheel Dr. cyber truck with 8 foot bed with a pop out solar panel man’s got a bill to haul a gooseneck trailer in a regular hitch pole trailer. You can be able to put that extended battery in it if it had an 8 foot bed in an Mega Cab type for the backseat I seen pictures of that truck that I want and it looks bad ass

Reason why I need to rig this big is I got a haul hey we have sometimes overnight 4 feet of snow and sometimes I’m out in the middle of nowhere and if he has low battery I’m screwed I have Ford 13 Arabian horses that depend on me to get her done

I say if you order today YOU MAY get it in 5 years. that is the bare minimum people with roadster orders from 2017 still havent received them. Even if they double production today it would take 5 years based on their stats of ordering today and calculating how many peopel already are ahead in line.

ICE car sales are being eaten by EV cars but the more chunk of their profit will go to investing new technology on their upcoming EV designs that will further eat more money. New tech from EV is going to be an additional burden to traditional car maker as they try to catch up with EV production. Talk about multiple hurdles that are just sharper at each jump!

engineering wise they were forced to upgrade the batteries because the vehicle is over 6000lbs. When you make a bloated vehicle you need to change the power system. Aesthetically the only reason why the CyberTruck is shaped how it is because Tesla could not figure out how to curve stainless steel hood. Just like DeLorean from way back in the 1980’s Tesla could not figure out how to curve it.. and this is supposed to be revolutionary styling? Umm seem like lazy engineering to me. The Cybertruck.. basically a bunch of flat panels of metal on a frame with wheels 😂 Now if Tesla could have created a stainless steel version on the Model 3 I could give some respect. I can’t give props to literal flat sheets on metal on a vehicle 😂😂 A quick trip to Home Depot for a hacksaw and some wood I could create the entire replica of the Cybertruck’s silhouette in 3-4 hours. Now imagine trying to recreate a wood version of a Mazda Miata… would take more skill and afford to recreate that silhouette and that’s an economy car from the 90’s 😂

The steel used is proprietary to Tesla. If Tesla wanted to use thinner or more flexible steel, they would have. The benefits are many. One is driving through bushes and branches when off roading. No scratches. Try that to your painted trucks. Paint job ruined after one branch rubs the paint.
